Listen to Jackie McMullen when she talks about Bird and Magic. Why not call black people "African Americans" and white people "European American"? Or just say black and white? Up until 87 Bird and Magic were equal. They had 3 championships a piece and were tied at one to one as far as going head to head. Bird won in 84 and Magic won in 85. Nobody knew who was going to win the battle of the decade back then but the Lakers just managed to hold on a year or two longer than the Celtics. Also Bird was winning MVP's in the mid 80's because he was putting up big numbers, when Kareem took a back seat in the late 80's, that's when Magic was putting up big numbers for MVP's..

If the lakers were better it is because Magic made them better. His impact on the game from the point guard position was greater than Larry's was as a small forward. Later in Magic's career he started scoring more. One season he avg 24 pts and over 12 ast. Thats insane production!!!!

You may think McHale and Parish were great....and they were..... but compared to Kareem who could dominate entire teams..... come on. Bird had to do more with less.

@Flipper79able Your right, McHale and Parish were nobody until they played with Bird, in college Kareem and Worthy lead their teams to NCAA title(s), won player, tourney player of the year, etc. McHale & Parish were nothing in the NCAA. Bird won in 81 with a starting 5 that included Chris Ford & Rick Robey, mchale only played a little over 13 minutes a game in that finals. In 84 finals McHale avg only 13 ppg, Worthy: 22, Kareem 26. Magic had the better players, just like in college.

Kareem won the MVP Award six times, not seven. And he was what would be considered "old" during most of the time he played with Magic. Kareem needed Magic a lot more than Magic needed Kareem.

Kareem was one of the runner ups MVP all through the eighties. KAREEM IS THE LEADING SCORER OF ALL TIME. Nice try. The Lakers had two superstars and the Celtics had only one superstar.
