Had fish and chips in Toberone harbourside a few years ago which I understood was an award winning mobile chippie. Here in S. Devon cod used to be most common, I think, However a fresh peice of haddock takes some beating. I had monk fish once at Rich Stiens Padstow, very nice of course. Rock salmon or catfish is o.k. bit cheaper I suppose and seems a bit courser but I believe Haddock to be best all rounder, most delicate and suculant in my humble opinion. P.S. Susan can sing!

Does anyone know what kind of fish is used for fish and chips in Scotland or what kind of fish is popular there in general? (ie. in the USA - Maine usually uses haddock or cod, Midwest probably uses catfish mostly, etc). Just wondering.

I would say Haddock, but in the U.K Cod and Flounder is also quite common for fish and chips :) x
