It started with Twisted Metal 1 and then Twisted Metal 2.

Twisted Metal 3 and 4 were intended to be sequels but the company that did them fucked up them SO bad that most people ignore them and dont consider them as legit Twisted Metal games.

Twisted Metal:Black and Small Brawl are alternate universes. They have NOTHING to do with the other games.

Twisted Metal: Head-On is a direct sequel to 2 and is considered the TRUE Twisted Metal 3.
