  • Very helpful vid - thanks! @wisesakura... You definitely need to chill out, there is no aggression in this guys voice but plenty to be found in your tetchy comment

  • I have many 1 quart mason jars ( I can a good deal), and I buy a roll of window screen material from Home Depot ( cheap), and I use the screens I cut in small pieces and place on top of the glass jars and secure with the metal band from the glass jar. I sprout any grain. seed, like this. Then, I have a dish rack from dollar store ( i got a bamboo one), and drain the jars at the 45 degree angle, I rinse and air two times daily, keep it at my sink..

  • Has anyone tried hemp bags? Are they better than unbleached cotton?

  • I think you would get a more effective rinse if you left the sprouts in the bag, put the bag in a container, than filled up the container and emptied it a few times. I do most of my sprouting in glass jars. Just use a sieve to strain them. You can leave the water running into the jar for a couple of minutes in the sink for a very effective rinse.

1 hour soak for buckweat: good to know. Most of us were told that you have to soak overnight. Thanks for the insight. Good video.

  • buckwheat's not really a grain

  • buckwheat's not really a grain

  • where do you buy the sprouting trays

  • omg that guy needs to chill out, his speech is like hammering nails. Think of the effect it has on human's poorly defende psyche. Speak with gentleness and kindness, less subconscious aggression please

  • "expecially" is not a word (1:08)! but thanks for the video!

  • how in the hell one can sprout oats????

  • Do you know about this "marshe method" shown on youtube? They want a ton of money but all I want is some clues to what this thing is.

  • You are a beautiful couple and look very healthy. Thanks for sharing this great info.

  • Thanks for sharing!!

  • What kind of oats are you using?

  • is it ok to soak in tap water

  • When you soak flaxseed/linseed do you need to wash the 'slime' off before eating? I heard that the slime was similar to the bulk that psyllium husk gives you. I don't know too much about eating better foods but am trying and learning, thankyou

  • I love Kevin's energy!!!

  • You look like you're having a lot of fun, love the affirmations too !

  • For the oats, is this just regular Oatmeal oats?

  • Where can I get one of those sprout bags?

  • Thanks for this video!!!!!!!!!!

  • nicely done

you 2 are awesome made me smile from ear to ear :)

  • Could you guys rent or buy a bigger house? I always feel so crowded in your kitchen!

  • ;')can you tell me where to buy a sprouting tray? great video.

  • I've been soaking the buckwheat over night and then i left it in a jar over the day, but yet none of them had developed sprouts. I'd like to know how long it takes before the buckwheat sprouts start to appear.

  • I've heard sunflower seeds have to grow in soil? Is that not true?

  • informative, thanks! A bit waffley and chatty for me. Would rather you just got to the point, dispensed with the interview format, and provided a summary of the process at the beginning.

  • super super informative. Thank you.Thank you.Thank you.

  • where do you buy seeds, all I found at the grocery store was flax seeds?? Thanks

  • @AnnihilatedByJesus try a feed store

  • Kevin, when you introduce yourself, please remember to introduce your co-host as well. Thanks for all your efforts. Love your videos.

  • hey kevin gianni, please shut up next video, we don't need some facts we need to know how to sprout buckwheat and oats thats what we searched for, not for some guy talking mumbo jumbo whole the time, if I want the facts ill just type in google ok

  • @Inflamsx they are already doing u a favor dumb fuck. accept how they act, idiot. so u please shut up next time

  • can someone tell me what oat groats are? Yes, I'm stupid but very willing to learn.

  • I hate my face!

  • Ok help me out here. I am confused. These are described as nutritionally dense foods. Lettuce is not considered nutritionally dense. Yet when comparing 30g of lettuce to alfalfa or mung sprouts the lettuce 5-7x the Vit A, 2x C, 9x K, thiamin, riboflavin etc were all pretty close. 30g of mung sprouts only had 1gr of protein. The nutritionally dense in what exactly? A carrot, by weight is even more dense nutritionally then lettuce. Someone help, cause I am confused.

  • I've got no agenda here, I am not pro one diet or another. That said if the diet these folks are suggesting is so healthy and natural why do they need all the pills? I don't think I could consider a dietary system that requires fortification or supplements. I want to get away from processed garbage not give my money to different manufacturers.

  • Tks, Ive been doing this for wrong so long

  • Why am i watching this? Damn i'm too high.

  • do you need to buy a special kind of sunflower seeds that are able to sprout?

  • @adamc404 yes.. you need to buy RAW sunflower seeds. In fact you need to make sure anything you want to sprout is raw, otherwise it is dead and will not grow.

  • @Onie3 well, the ones i bought were labeled raw in a health food store, but that doesn't mean that they weren't heated above 115 F, it means that they were not roasted or anything. but do i need to buy sprouting sunflower seeds? do they sell them anywhere?

  • OK ... I know you did not mention trying to sprout FLAX seeds in this video, but I tried it anyway. After the soak, I wound up with soooo much of the SLIME stuff. It was IMPOSSIBLE to rinse off the slime. IMPOSSIBLE. Are Flax seeds not supposed to be sprouted? It was my first time trying and it was a disaster. Anybody know what to do with Flax?

  • holyblizzz - Those tiny sprouts should be safe to eat. It's primarily buckwheat greens that contain the toxic substance and should therefore be avoided. Buckwheat greens are more like a leafy veg for juicing, etc. and have little to do with the tiny sprouts you see in this video.

Don't be discouraged to put quick-sprouted buckwheat into your granola! :)

  • I strongly advice NOT TO sprout BUCKWHEAT, when it is known to cause severe sensitivy to light in quite a few people. google sprouted buckwheat and you will find out. It is fine to eat buckwheat as a dry food.

  • That is sooo much work just for some granola. I'll just have to by mine! LOL

  • Do we not obtain benefit from these foods without soaking/sprouting? What is we only soak, but do not sproat? Is that better than nothing at all?

  • I HAVE A BIG DOUBT, is it allright to eat oat sprouts? Because there is a myth about raw oat is associated with cancer, how is this true?

  • AnnMarie made me sprout a boner

  • tell me about it

  • Yes, thats usually happens, but FDA considers that this natural reactions could be harmful.

  • I like to soak my nuts in my nutbag.

    ZING!!!

  • First time sprouting.. sunflower seeds and buckwheat are sprouting great, the oats nothing. Not sure what's with my oat groats.

  • You can use naked Oats. It's a hull-free variety.

And it's sprouting better than ordinary oats, because the sprouts are often getting damaged when hulled by maschines.

  • My oats are like, slimey and mushy and giving off white water after soaking for an hour...

  • you need oat groats - or full grain oats, same thing

they will stay hard after like even 12 hours soaking

rolled oats are not the stuff

  • im feeling the love through the screen

must be something within with the hearts of good people

i believe in the power of realisation also, bless your food by being humble to the grace of your very creation

self empowerment is real. i have moved from being depressed to feeling overwhelming love on occasion and its comes more frequently the more i focus, we generally all are or have been in a trap of bad practice. brake the mold show others in the way which you have self realised upon.

  • you guys roc

  • I thought that oat groats wouldn't sprout unless they still had the hulls on there. Are yours with the hulls on them?

  • Can you eat buckwheat right after you soak them or do you need to completely sprout them?

  • "Ton of....." Salesman Kevin

  • Thanks for the video :) I do have a few questions though.... if it's left out in the open, what are the chances of the sprouts getting bacteria? What would happen if you put the soaked buckwheat etc. in the fridge.. would they still sprout?

  • Kevin,

I just bought buckwheat sprouting seeds and they are not hulled. Will they sprout. I don't see how they can sprout if the seeds are in hulls.

  • Video is great some comments are appalling

  • very clear. many thanks xx

  • i am having aqua oats

the first person ever to have aqua oats

    haha

  • That is no longer a vegan meal :(

    lmfao

  • ...you should make a video!

  • the idea is that it is alive, and eating bean sprouts is one of the best things to eat cause its like eating fresh babies. mmmmmm babies

  • I thought Raw Foodists only eat fruits veggies and seeds? And not grains?

    Please answer.

  • raw (green) food comes from grains (sprouted seed)

  • they never said how long you soak the buckwheat for.

  • Comment removed

  • you soak them for an hour

  • where can you get big size sprouting trays like the one(s) in the video ? I found a german brand with 3 'sophisticated' trays at my health food store but it's 30$+... The trays they use in the clip looks very basic and simple... Any ideas for the Canadian folks ?

  • Staples sells desk drawer organizers. You could hand sew bags with a trip to the fabric store. Mason jars with cheese cloth and rubber band?

  • the way he said that sprinkling seemed effective makes me suspect him of doing something with that spray bottle.

  • Wow thanks, very informative. I already knew how to sprout from growing wheatgrass, but I only recently took an interest in eating sprouts. I'm glad you guys said not to put them in the fridge with any water on it. Cause I thought you had to rinse them off again before putting them in.

  • so where should you buy seeds?

can you buy the little bags of seed from gardening places? the bags you use to grow your own veg//fruit in a garden?

  • Do I use Buckwheat Sprouting Seeds or Hulled Buckwheat Sprouting Seeds ?

  • you said you want your sprouts to be "very very clean"so why do you use tap water which has flouride and bacteria and what not? you should use drinking water only

  • If you pay attention you will see that the water is coming out of a very thin faucet. The water is filtered. They have an under the sink water filter. The larger faucet that is next to the filtered water is just tap water for doing dishes and even there they have a clip on filter.

I love the energy of this couple and their honesty.

  • Oh... thanks mate for clarifying

  • Glad I could help. :)

  • Oh I am so gonna start sprouting more often, just so many benefits.

  • a final product wud have been great

  • @dancenijas Great rewards come from paying attention

  • I want to plant the sunflower seeds.

So how deep should I put them in the ground?

And how long will it take for them to grow?

  • Are you making soft granola??

  • what if you dont have sprouting tray?...can i use a jar?

  • @StrawberryBigMac fo'sho. A jar works well for sprouting also.

  • @SageRiley first time sprouted. I dropped the seeds last nite.

  • Grains are the essence of life.

  • i think you mean fresh fruit!

  • Deer and cattle are Ruminants

    see Wikipedia

Ruminants have a fore-stomach with four chambers. These are the rumen, reticulum, omasum, and abomasum. In the first two chambers, the rumen and the reticulum, the food is mixed with saliva and separates into layers of solid and liquid material. Solids clump together to form the cud (or bolus).

  • The cud is then regurgitated, chewed slowly to completely mix it with saliva and to break down the particle size. Fiber, especially cellulose and hemi-cellulose, is primarily broken down into the three volatile fatty acids, acetic acid, propionic acid and butyric acid in these chambers by microbes (bacteria, protozoa, and fungi). Protein and non-structural carbohydrate (pectin, sugars, starches) are also fermented.

  • I would be very careful about eating "Sprouts"

Nature intended to make sprouts inedible and indigestible to grazing animals, including humans. To do this, sprouts contain toxic and evil tasting components to deter. This should be enough warning to anyone.

IF IT TASTES AWEFUL, DON"T EAT IT !!

  • The deer and cattle where I grew up must not of got that memo from Nature.

  • and nature definitely didn't want us to eat the unsprouted seeds, but we do, in the form of processed flours. Or cooked beans. You can and often should cook some sprouts. Even some raw foodists recommend this. Even just soaking the seeds long enough before eating will remove enzyme inhibitors. The sprouting process also activates nutrients, eliminates gluten, etc. Sprouted grains can eliminate the problem of allergies for many. Just be sanitary. Often the problem is mold.

  • If you haven't can you please consider doing a vid on the suppliments that were on your cabinet? Thanks!

  • yeah cool, i know you are making granola, but i did the semi sprout thing with sunflowers and added cayenne pepper salt and italian spice, the ground kind, while they were sprouted and drained and dehydrated them very addicting and cheap too. i tried wasabe, want to try chili, taco, tamari. any other ideas for a diabetic? i will try the same with buckwheat. mahalo

  • A lot of water being wasted. You could at least have a pan or bucket underneath to catch the water to reuse in the garden. Agitating in a bowl of water also greatly reduces water use. Sprouts ain't so green sometimes.

  • Thank you thank you thank you for posting this video and for being so thorough! I am trying to switch to a raw vegan diet and I keep reading about people sprouting but had no clue what it was or how to do it. Now I do! Keep up the good work! :)

  • great video u eally think about the viewer giving information n a reap at the end of the video..great work thank you

  • I successfully sprouted using a pizza pan with holes for my sunflower seeds and I used my dehydrator trays with parchment paper for the buckwheat. I just put them on a shelf singularly and rinsed every twice (8 hrs) and they sprouted just perfect. so i'm living proof that you don't have to buy expensive "sprouting" trays. $25??? i don't think so. I also don't have an expensive dehydrator and it works just fine. so if you don't have a lot of money, theres a few tips.

  • Hi, I went to my local co-op and they didn't have whole oats, only steel cut. Where do you buy yours?

  • Try a health food store or a natural foods store.

My local Kroger grocery store doesn't even have lentils by them selves, so i know how u feel.

  • A video of all the wonderful products on the shelf above your sink would be great.

  • I tried sprouting buckwheat, but I guess I didn't rinse enough because it got moldy. I will try again. Whole grains and oat groats especially are high in silica!

  • OH.. On your last video I asked where you got the square food dehydrator but I found them online. There a little expensive. But, I must have one. hahaha. Looking forward to next weeks video.

  • AHHH COOL... So the next video will tell us how to use them? :)

  • i'm still learning on how to do that!! thank u for the video.. this will help.
