I can't get enough of British TV and movies, and I absolutely love the southern accent. lol. But I do understand where you are coming from with that statement because there are a lot of people who do have an superiority complex.

@EJLSWE hey now i've got a bit of a new york accent I hardly think that qualifies as "monotone un-alive robotic sounding drivel". Each person from all over the world has an individual, interesting voice. Most Americans, in fact, do not dislike English accents and dialects so I don't know where that came from, and the only reason northerners despise southern accents is because after so many years of ignorant Southern presidents (not naming any names) it makes the person sound uneducated.

I dont know how many americans you know but I don't find that the case at all. I actually find english actors to be sharp and witty, and in many cases they're fantastic actors.
I can't help notice that you are actually fulfilling all the criticisms of americans that you've listed. PS there are tons of accents in the US as well. Friends of mine from college were from New York, Boston, San Diego, Chicago, and they all had different accents. They even would comment on my philadelphia accent. Ignorant people are the ones who judge based on stuff like that, its not limited to a nationality. @EJLSWE Living in the United States myself, I've never experienced any sort of accent prejudice. Most of the people I know and talk to like British culture, films, music, etc. My favorite band is from England, as well as some of my favorite actors and movies... I just don't get where you're coming from. Who did you talk to that made you feel the need to write this generalization? I'm currently dating an English girl and I adore her accent.
