There needs to be job creation in those neighborhood. Remember in the 80's when republicans sent millions of jobs overseas and to Latin America creating a massive hole. The fact of the matter is in many places there simply isn't a real job to be had. Also AFDC requires people to work or show proof that your looking for a job. This woman is rich do to the fact that she used welfare to get back on her feet by writing books about how harmful welfare is.

The only way to end welfare depency is to create jobs. Something republicans are horrible at. Safety nets aren't the problem but access to liveable wages. Also Star Park used welfare to get back on her feet without she would be nowhere in life. She is horrible

Its a lie this crap.. Good for her but don't go and get high and mighty putting your self on a pedestal. The lower classes have real struggles that will make them or break them. And its BS to act like everyone can make it out. Most people born poor will stay poor especially as the inequality increases between poor and the rich. Not everyone can be the president , a successful doctor, etc. and many will end up doing the grunt work becoming workaholics and still live from pay check to paycheck.

She doesn't mention that she was converted to Christianity and that is the first step that got her off welfare and drugs. She just replaced one addiction - drugs and welfare for another - religion. She says her friends told her it was ok to go on welfare, steal from stores, etc so she did it, and when she was saved the Bible told her not to have sex outside of marriage, etc. so she didn't do that. She is an Authoritarian follower, a conservative and she ALWAYS WAS EVEN AS A DRUG ADDICT.

AFDC Aid to Families with Dependent Children used to give you a form when you applied stating that if your worked or went to college you could have your check cut maybe entirely. TANF allows recipients to go to work or college and demands that able bodied persons do just that. She wants EVERYONE off welfare? Because she got off welfare? There are people with undiagnosed disabilities who can't work.

As for those who absolutely cannot take care of themselves, have no one and no access to charity, and can only live off of government support, she addressed this and said that most Americans would approve of spending for them. But the hard part about this is identifying exactly who those people are. Many of those people know how to find help when they need it and private charity is made for them.

I am able to say that after I cut myself and my five children off welfare in 1992 we where homeless several times, and for many years I struggled to learn how to live without welfare. Today I am the President and founder of SWWC relief systems, Single Women With Children Relief Systems helping single women with children from all over the world with emergency needs. In Australia we are a deeply socialist society - yet we don't have poverty like in America and our economy is the envy of the developed world. People on welfare shop, supporting small businesses. America is just a hollow shell because the poor are seen as a way to make more money for the rich.

@lucasboydjr Poor people buying stuff with money they got from the rich business owners is a non-nonsensical cycle. Those on welfare don't create any value with the work they're not doing. This leaves the responsibility for creating wealth on everyone who is not on welfare. And no, American businesses folk know you can't make money off someone with none, if they could employ those people instead of giving them money to buy stuff then profit would go up.
