think its not very useful to show how to teach thsi trick with a dog, which is able to do the trick. ànd not with one, which learns the trick at this moment. sorry.
I would rather shape this without the dog following my hand with treats... Click and treat for the dog making moves towards the goal by him/her self. In that way u don´t have to work to remove the helping hand later, and the dog is more aware of what he/she's doing with her body - not just following the treat...
Of course! Clicker training works based on what is known as conditioned reinforcement. You have to stablish the click as a reinforcer first. Click and present a little amount of food when your pet is hungry for about 80 times. Then you can use the clicker as a "sign" of "well done". If you want a more detailed explanation you can send me a message.
I don't see why it wouldent work. It can be trained like anything else. Just make sure to use really small treats lol. Btw, how is having a pet rat? I always wondered. =P
it did work onmy rat, he eventually learned 15 diffrent tricks includeing comeing when he was called, sitting up, spinning, fetching, climbing on comand, and others : )
Great videos. I have an Aussie too. I trained him to bow really fast based on your video. Only problem is he'll sit down between bows, then he's "stuck". I have to prompt him to stand before he can bow again. He can't seem to go from sitting to stand then bowing. Suggestions?
Great! Can you do a short video on the basic "stay and wait" for a border collie. I'm working towards hin walking on a loose leash with full attention on me! Thanks!
This is sooooooo good!
Is this an Aussie or an English Shepherd?
Thanks
Kim

when ever i click the clicker the my dog skippy walks away

@bayliew83 you first need to teach your dog what a click means :) Just click and reward your dog. Then move to the tricks.

Oops. When I try that Lucy goes into the down position. The way she drops down, that's not working for me. Have to figure out another way I guess.
