I love both True Blood and the books, but they are so different, I have just gotten to the point that they are two complete different things. But, I love Eric either way, even though I feel like they villanize Eric a lot in the show, he is much more gentlemanly in the books.

Please, dont kill me if i say this. But True Blood is better than Charlaine Harris's books. Sookie Stackhouse (from the Books) is a kinda slut, True Blood's Sookie is more caring and romantic character. Bill from the books is a totally ass, True Blood's Bill is more complex and a tragic character. Eric from the books is the ideal love for Sookie, but True Blood's Eric is a complete bad guy but he is more interesting character and always has a secret agenda.

@efenege2 although i love alan ball's interpretation of th books, i can't say i agree with your comment. how do you think she's a slut? the shows up until this point, have portrayed her the same way as she is in the books. there are additional elements to the show that aren't in the books, ie- layfeyette dies on the first page of book 2! and there's no "V" or Jessica in the books, but i think maybe you need to re-read the books, or wait and see how the show plays out before you start labeling

@efenege2 personally I love the mix they created, I like Pam more form the books, but I like True Blood's Lafayette he's an amazing tv character, and in the topic of Eric and Bill... well I'm totally partial to Eric ever since I've read Dead to the World, besides I think Bill just screw everything up I just don't get him.

And Sookie, well I kind of get why she wants to sleep with everybody, I mean the poor girl had to hear the minds of creepy guys trying to her into her panties... so I get her.

@efenege2 well, obviously, the sookie stackhouse novels only has one author, while true blood is the collective effort and brainpower of at least a dozen seasoned writers, so yes it is better written. i believe when HBO took this original story into their hands, the screenwriters improved an already great story. so now its spectacular. :)
