I had LASEK 9 days ago - no blur, no hazing, no ghosting and now I can see better than the f*cking predator. Proceedure was with Ultralase ("Ultra Elite Lasek") - I didn't opt for the LASIK because apparently it never heals and can get knocked out if you play contact sports. - as we say over here in the U.K - I'm totally stoked!!
Going for this in 4 days!! - like u i think i could write a paper on this stuff already,1 quick question though - in the vid you said they told you to wear your shades for a month?! - seems like a long time - Oh and I just watched Final destination 5, if your going for any laser eye surgery don't watch it.... seriously.
@Ronin2828 Hahaha, yeah I don't think I would have gotten it soon after seeing that movie. eek! Anyways- I had to wear the shades they gave me for a month and then I could buy my own shades, but had to wear them for at least 3 months every time I was outside. I lived in Florida though, so it's probably more necessary there than in the UK. How are you now, a month after your surgery?!
@SimplicityLoves I'm awesome, thnx. To be honest I was awesome 3 or 4 days after it - its been a really great experience. they didn't give me shades but i do have to wear these aviator style goggles to bed for a month which makes me look like vin deisel in that movie chronicles of riddick. i think its just to stop people rubbing their eyes in their sleep. And Oi!, it doesn't rain here all the bloody time! :), just about half the year, but we make up for it by starting riots.
The 3rd day after PRK Laser Eye Surgery is supposed to be the most painful, yet as I awoke this morning---moderate soreness & pain...perhaps everyone has a different pain threshold; Sensitivity to light has certainly increased today. And objects seem to be hyper-layered: Somewhat overlapping & distorted.
@seekperfection so you should be 8 days in by now, right? Is all of the pain gone now? My pain had left by then but my vision wasn't anywhere near stable/great. Hope all is well.
@SimplicityLoves Yes, all the pain is gone now. Indeed, stable is an understatement :) @ this point the my vision is actually a lot better...still fluctuations throughout the day for vision, yet it's a letter better and more adaptable.
Thanks for sharing, but isnt LASEK safer than LASIK overall since it dosnt leave a permanent flap in ur eye?? I think i would be willing to suffer for an extra week to avoid that,..
@0dour I think when it comes to success rates, they are probably comparable. However when something does go wrong, it tends to be much worse for those who got LASIK. Infections and improper healing are issues that I've heard are more relevant to LASIK than PRK. However, it's not just a question of suffering through the pain for a week - your vision improves much quicker and stays more stable with LASIK surgery. The flap heals quickly as long as you have a healthy cornea and immune system.
@wailabanda I'm not sure I understand.. do you mean that they are in such pain that they can't speak? Two of my siblings have gotten LASIK done (in different states and different years) and I assure you that they could. But I am really thankful for the experience I had.
Yup..the term pain is hard to describ..its more of an irritation..something that really test someone patience..
