i finally tried this the other night. i'm a huge fan of this brewery, being about 50 miles away from them. wasn't as sweet as i thought it would be, but this was still very good. a dessert beer, by far.
I had this a few weeks ago, and although it tastes great, I still wouldn't regard it as a beer. Like you mentioned in this video, the chocolate taste is extremely overpowering and I completely agree with you. As a result of this overpowering chocolate taste, it tends to "block out" the other flavors in this beer (such as the hops, etc.). I just think Southern Tier may have used too much chocolate in order to produce this beer, perhaps it would have been better if they had used less or something.
@ranchy888 Yeah I also regard this as a beer. Yeah the chocolate dominates alot of the flavor and aroma, but it is how it was meant to be, a chocolate bomb, you can also pick up other notes in the beer but yeah mostly its chocolate. Cheers!
@dorf68 Seriously! I thought it was amazing, sooo chocolatey. But I guess its a beer that isn't for all, because of the intense chocolate flavor. Cheers!
@BeerDisciplesSpokane a stout that didn't taste like a glass of sugar. have you had Great Divide Oak Aged Chocolate Yeti? i've had plenty of chocolate stouts and Choklat was a horrible mess in my opinion. but it's just that: my opinion. somebody has to drink it, though. enjoy!
That looks really good, still havent reviewed a chocolate stout im probably going to order a Sam Smiths Oatmeal Stout. Another top review Peter Cheers!!
@JoeHell67 Hi! AC/DC, one of the first ''metal'' bands i started listening to, around the age of 14. Cool i would love to see them live sometime, they have been to Denmark this year and last year, but i didn't get any tickets they were sold out instanly :-( Sure it counts haha :-D Thanks man i will! Btw i reviewed a German beer yesterday, it was the Kapuziner Weissbier. The review will probably be up tomorow, cheers!
I really enjoy this beer as well. Easily the best chocolate stout on the market. I wish they just made it in 12oz bottles. Youll have to get a bottle of Pumking when its released.
@BeerGeekNation Yeah that also what i thought! Oooh i hope i do, i have heard so many good things about it. But my beer store didn't carry it last year, so i don't know if they will get it this year, but i hope they do! Cheers!
I feel special since I got a sneak preview of this review the other day ;)
Definitely my all-time favorite dessert beer. The only problem is it's hard to drink an entire 22oz bomber alone, it's the kind of beer you want to share with a friend. It's so rich, it's like liquid fudge.
I'm adding this video to my favorites! Will you be doing a "best of 2010" video in December? This will probably be my #1 or 2.
I actually peeled the label off the bottle and put it on my car!
@Chad9976 Oh yeah, haha :-D It is awsome. Yeah would be nice to get it in 12oz or something. Cool, im pretty sure i will, and i do have some beers in mind ;-) Cool, i belive Matt (Matts Beer Reviews) something like wise with ST beer labels. Sure! Cheers!
@qchome Well, southern tier makes both mediocre and good beers. The ones i have had that weren't from the ''Imperial'' series wasen't exceptional in any way. But alot of their ''Imperial'' ones are, i really liked this one. Cheers!
Was lucky enough to have this on tap at Southern Tier Brewery. :) Sooooo good.

This is a fantastic beer. Its liquid crack. This and the Rogue Double Chocolate Stout are the cream of the crop in the world of chocolate stouts.

@BassAssassin9 Yup its pretty darn tasty! Yeah, I prefer this over the Rogue one though. Cheers!
