When Chicago's Very Own Channel 9 began broadcasting the King Features-syndicated Blondie series at 7 PM on Tuesday nights in 1966, they soon owned that time slot. It was a big hit, something to take our minds off of Vietnam and the simmering rebellion that characterized the USA around then--although, personally I was having a blast at age 14, when high school was fun.
Do anyone know what episode where the whole theme song is the one when Dagwood runs into the mailman? It's just an instrumental. It usually plays during that segment.
@1876alamo In the town of Seville, in Andalusia, in the south of Spain. The Blondie movies have not arrived to my country (at least as I know), but all I've watched in youtube is funny and marvelous.
@CadillacL Yeah - I'm about to be 39, and we watched these shows growing up! A Blondie & Dagwood feature would be a Saturday morning treat for us back then!
@kincaide67 I'm about to be 39 m yself. They were great weren't they? :) If i remember, for me, every Sunday afternoon it was either Blondie/Dagwood, Charlie Chan, Pippi, etc. SO many memories.
@CadillacL Yeah - usually sometime before noon one of those would come on. All those old great black'n'white comedies. I recall Pippi as well! Quite a change when you get up and look at weekend programming now-a-days with your 600+ channels that basically show nothing. But then, I guess that's progress!
@kincaide67 Yeah, there "are" some watch-worthy shows & movies, nowadays, but nothing like escape, which seems, to me, the purpose of TV. Today, it's a load of garbage (sur)reality shows, & for lack of a plot, they fill the screen with special effects, violence (even I'm complaining about it, being a fighter) & facetious stuff. Nice, that we can find something in which we can forget the horrors of a decadent society, huh?

I love these movies! The set for the house is my dream house, and I'd love to find a 'thoroughbred mongrel' like Daisy:)
