  • Just changed out my capacitors and all is well again with my vizio, this was surprisingly easy to do and for less than twenty dollars my tv is fixed.

Thanks for posting this video beast!!!

  • I have a vm60p that was given to me free today. It was sold to them by best buy. It started turning off they said so best buy eventually replaced it. I got it home, removed rear panels because it was dead. Found a wire harness loose and plugged it in. Tv turned on, watched movie for 2hrs. Started turning off then on randomly when I put the back panels on. What could this be? Runs till heat builds up obviously. Please help???? DN

  • I have a VIZIO VO320E. The screen went blank. No prior problems and a good picture before. It still has sound and can change channels. How can I repair it? Is it a capacitor problem?

  • Just called Vizio, the tech support number, 877-698-4946, and they emailed me a "release", and they are sending the proper parts for free, but its up to us to repair it. Or, they will send a repair guy to your home to do it for $125.

Wait, new email this moment...they are sending the entire board with capacitors on it for free...!

  • Very many thanks for this video! I'm taking this project on, I will let you know how it goes.

  • i wish i knowed this a year ago

  • Hey how did you get the back panel off!!

  • I got a Vizio of the same type. It works fine and at random times, it cuts off, like the screen is the problem, the "VIZIO" is white for about 3 minutes, and it shuts of to its orange. I saw two domed capacitors and replaced them with axial lead capacitors. It has the same problem.

  • Stupid Q:

Where is the best online place to get assorted capacitors, etc.

    Thanks!

  • @jimhale777 assorted? I don't know of many places that do that anymore, but Radio shack used to at one time. As far parts go, digikey (dot com) or mouser (dot com) are probably two of the best places to get parts.

  • @beast6228

Thanks. I need to replace a 470 uF that was not included in the eBay VP322 repair pack. (It was outside of the red box.) What's a good brand? I'm assuming the ones Vizio chose were no so great. I think I'll also go up one voltage rating level and use the 105C rated ones.

    Thanks again!

  • @jimhale777 Panasonic caps are a good choice

  • @beast6228

Thanks for the advice. I already ordered the bulk of the caps from a repwir kit on eBay. I was only missing a 470 uF 10v., which I picked up from Radio Shack. Replaced them all and had it up and running in under an hour, thanks largely to your video.

    THANKS!!!

  • @jimhale777 I replaced the capacitors yesterday, the TV powered right up, was on about 15 minutes and one capacitor blew, then about 5 minutes later the second blew, the TV was turned off and on several times with no problem but now is dead again and the tops are blown out like the previous set, I installed the same 10amp, 3300 105c type that was in it, any suggestions, bad solder joints maybe, something else, it ran for many many hours after they popped but went back out this morning

  • how do we replace the capacitors? If I have never done any kind of electronic repairs will I be able to do this or should i take it somewhere to get fixed

  • @1191shannon Desoldering iron, you have to heat up the solder on the backside of the circuit board and suck the solder off, it will then come loose. On a capacitor there is a plus side and negative side..make note removing the capacitor and replace it in the same fashion at it was removed. If you mess that up, you will end up ruining the board.

  • @beast6228 Do you think I could just buy the part on ebay, a new board? So I won't take the chance of ruining anything with soldering? Would a main board work?

    Thanks for your help :)

  • on my power supply board the 470 uf are 25v not 10v beacause I had 2 3300 uf 10v and 2 470 uf 25v bulging.

  • Ok so i check my Vizio and same problem as yours BEAST6228 , Now my second problem is how do i figure out what kind of capacitors they are for ordering? Please help

  • Are you familiar with the Vizio VW37L HDTV20A? I am having issues with the screen acting like a strobe light. Can still see the images on the tv from my provider, and also have sound. Just strobes after it heats up or when turned on for awhile. I have the back off right now, just trying to figure out what needs to be replaced. Thanks

  • @MasterNatetor There are so many models I couldn't tell you about that exact one. However if it's strobing after it has been on a while then it could be the ZSUS board. As I tell everyone, check the capacitors because if they are weak or bad then the rest of the television's circuitry is lacking proper voltage which will cause things to not work right. As far as the ZSUS board goes, You'll have to do some of your own research locating one. They run about $100 bucks.

  • @beast6228 Thank you! And yes, after it has been on a while. I checked all capacitors, and they all seem fine by me. Also, if you don't mind, which one is the ZSUS board? Thanks again for your info! Greatly appreciated!!!

  • @MasterNatetor They differ from model to model, but go to google and search for Vizio zsus board in image search and it should bring up a photo. Once you find it, look for a model number on the board and begin your search for that exact board. Just a fair warning you might not find one, you might also want to think about how much the parts cost before you actually buy a replacement. If for some reason you start buying parts and they don't work, you're out of money, they don't return parts.

  • @beast6228 I again thank you!!! Been much more help than some forums I have been to!

  • yea the screen is broke behind the glass... theres one on ebay with a good screen i was just wondering how to test the internals cause its gonna be like 100 for the whole tv.... 2 of the caps on the power supply are bulging, so i know it needs atleast 2 caps... anymore adivce you can give me could i make a video for you to look at?

  • @ntddannyboy The tv should have ports or jacks for other video outputs, you could try hooking up a computer monitor or similar to it. But still, before you spend 100 bucks on it I would replace the capacitors, it might give you a better idea to see if it's totally broken. Make a video if you want.

  • just below the power supply board on a smaller board i see a flashing light, any help with this one?

  • i just pulled one of these screen out of the trash in my appartment complex.. it has a cracked screen on it.. i plug it in and seems like the screen is making the noise.. the visio light gose from orange to white, i hear the power supply click, then i start to hear the buzzing, i think its comming from the screen, remember it has a crack and a piece of the glass is missing, anyway to check and see if the guts are good and the screen is bad or what could i do to check the internals?

  • @ntddannyboy Well the screen itself is covered by a thick piece of glass, it's possible that the glass is just broken and not the screen itself. It's also possible that the screen was broken by the person who threw it out, they probably got tired of it not turning on and threw something at it. Check the capacitors before you worry about anything else. BTW: If the screen is bad, it wouldn't be worth it to fix it, it would cost you more than what a new tv costs.

  • This brand of television is quite popular here in the United States which is sold by WalMart and other retail chain stores. This problem with bad capacitors will probably affect all models of the Vizio line, not just the VP322.

  • very useful, i just have to order de bad capacitors now, thanks
