Although this is a classic irish song much older than rock'n'roll it's pretty obvious that it's Lizzy's (phenomenal !) version they're playing. Still it's a great piece of music because the audience does'nt give Bono a chance. No live footage but I bet that the whole band just stood there smiling as fools and playing. Great !

U2 and the crowd sang the TL version and it was fantastic. i love both versions, they are great and it is fantastic to see U2 resuurect a song popularised by Phil L. But as someone else said this song is an old folk song and there are 100's of versions?? the best one happens to be the one being sung in the bar you are in at the time. This is a good version of a Traditional song it dont matter who it sounds like you can do with it as you will.....The song's exact origins are unknown.
