When yo sing in studio (maybe it never happened to you) and you're singing low notes (like Rihanna does), in the live performances it's difficul singing like that because those notes need a lot of breath and if your moving and dancing your voice becomes not so in pitch... but that's her voice and her tone is REAL! I'm a rihanna fab and I have to admit some of these live versions don't sound the same, however I also know that rihanna suffers from very bad nerves before live performing and if you watch her AOL live performances they are just as good (if not better in the case of russian roulette and take a bow) as the studio versions
That's why there's a thing that they called auto-tune where they can change her voice either soft, hard, etc. And just so you know most of the pop singers in this world can't sing well in live, especially when you are dancing you can't really sing well.

this video is so dumb, im not gna bother giving a million reasons why. the gist of it is that it is rare for a singer to sound identical to a studio recording. it does not mean her voice is edited in studio. studio recording enviroments are VERY different from live recording enviroments. yes rihanna can sing. can she sing live very well? no. does this mean her voice is edited? no. she may be autotuned in the studio from time to time but that does not mean she sounds NOTHING like studio

Her voice is edited and its edited very well because her voice sounds really nice with respect to the studio versions of her songs. Every time she sings live she sounds very different - bad >.> But hey, what'cha gonna do. Nowadays, mainstream is more about entertainment. Music is not about lyrics or meaning anymore. Just pure entertainment, sadly =/
well... you're right her voice (like most other singers' voices) is edited in the studio... actually I don't think that anybody sounds live the same like they sound on CD etc...
She sings in a different key live and she moves around alot, you can here the bounce in her voice from all that movement
