  • the lyrics are still more meaningful than the average Rush song

  • This is a truly beautiful composition. Listen to it.

  • i love the part where the tiny stonehenge comes down and the dwarves start dancing! I practically couldnt breath from laughter.

  • Those stones dont look to be 18 inches high !

  • @sevewone Maybe if they did heavy metal in doubly...

  • @UniformConfusion. Yeah, "This Is Spinal Tap" was a movie about a "fake" heavy metal band put together by Rob Reiner (of All in the Family fame) to mock heavy metal in a comedy skit for the "The TV Show" pilot episode (that didn't become a series) in '79. It turned out that the band was good, so "This Is Spinal Tap" came out in '84 as a mockumentary about the band that sort of never was. Except they were, and sometimes still perform (as of 2009).

  • @davidl9999 rockumentary*

  • Saw them in 1645 at Stonehenge with Pans Pious Pipers. Changed my life

  • @louiscfc93

haha.. you must be old as shit :)

  • Is it just me, or is this making fun of Rush and the prog rock scene?

  • @UniformConfusion

My vote goes to Jethro Tull. Sounds just ike Ian singing, and the Tullian moats and castles mythology....But like all good Tap, it is a combo of many funny refs

  • @UniformConfusion Rush had their heyday a little later. In my opinion, the song was intended as a parody of heavy metal interest in the occult / paganism as well as the glam scene (hence the silver glitter eyeshadow that Nigel and David wear in the movie)

  • @UniformConfusion I hear some Rush, some Tull, and a little bit of Uriah Heep circa "Demons and Wizards." And, just to make it better, the drummer for most of the film (Ric Shrimpton) was played by Ric Parnell, the drummer for Atomic Rooster.

  • @jackal59 I hear some resemblance to The Oath by Kiss

  • Wonder if this will get me a copy right strike if I use it on my videos?

  • spell it urself ELF.

  • listen, i really really use to like this song, then i peeled back the layer off the onion, this song is about , stone the little kids. this is bad taste. this band should be dropped by they label, the shower of jam rags, have a smell of choc finger,

  • @superlolski episode 5 Saison 02 lol yes!!!!

  • @superlolski Love that show. Great soundtrack, hot guys too

  • I hear some Iron Maiden influance in this song.

  • @PohatuJr

    Spinal Tap influences Iron Maiden

  • this song is amazing

  • Every folk rock band and prog rock band under the sun has been parodied in this song.

  • Its nice to listen to this song with adequate size pieces of bread that doesn't break when I fold it.

  • Wow. How stone is that henge? It's like... it couldn't be none more stone. Y'know?

  • @AnnaGoesToThePark its stone as death

  • That fucking mandolin solo is the most bad ass thing I've ever heard

  • @AddEmergency I couldn't agree more

  • @AddEmergency I couldn't agree more

  • This song is so great that it should have been on the rad-ee-oh.

  • The most epic song ever.

  • @ubercreep You almost had me worried there, prick.

  • gotta love the little folky tune they go off into at the end...it reminds me of elfs dancing around on mushrooms :)

  • @ubercreep too much typing not enough getting ur point across for youtube XD

  • I think the funniest thing about this song is how good it is. Crank up the Spinal Tap!

  • Spinal Tap is good, but Massacration is better

  • who dislike this?

    justin beiber maybe?

  • i know its supposed to be a parody but the melody and the instr. parts are fantastic!!

there not just great comics but very talented musicians!!

  • can i raise a practical question?

will we be doing stonehenge tomorrow night?

  • @fleezerboy No we're not going to fucking do Stonehenge!!

  • Is tthat an RF7 shag pig promo?LOL

  • I am slightly put-off by the lack of midget druids in this video :p

  • sonds a little like ian anderson

  • midget hoe-down @3:21

  • "and what would they say to us if they were here tonight"

they'd probably say "Carraigeacha Beartaíonn Dromlaigh" (assuming irish gaelic is what thye spoke).

  • @Jimmy666Vengeance Which they did not, they spoke Brythonic, whci is close to Irish gaelic I would have thought.

  • @GodwinCarpenter meh i was close xD

  • I'm going to turn it up to 11.

  • I found this CD at my library

  • This spinal Tap!!!!!!!!

  • Meh, Stonehenge was nothing. I mean, it was in danger of being crushed by a dwarf.

  • Badass ;)

  • This is an excellent song regardless of the movie being a satire. I love the movie but this song rocks on its own.

  • 3:00 - 3:50 greatest song ever!

  • Whoever hits dislike on this vid will be crushed by a dwarf.

  • @gnrct Well, they might be, but if we helped the dwarves with the coreography, they won't trod upon anyone

  • @gnrcr im not surprised,no1 the mandolin bit is a levellers rip-off,no2compare these to maiden et al...i wouldnt, and no3...well there isnt a no3 because 1+2 were so good.

  • @gnrcr And then a stonehenge set, which was even smaller

  • No dislikes. Thats how awesome this song is.

  • sounds familiar.. check band called Pallas...

  • Hoorays for random mandolin part YEAH!!!!!!

  • The mandolin part is a work of musical genius.

  • sausages

  • @moonwatcher1967 inside of pancakes.

  • Definitely has a Jethro Tull sound. Especially the part sung by David(Michael McKean)....it sounds so much like Ian Anderson its pretty uncanny.

  • Comment removed

  • This is a clear send up to all the prog rock bands of the 70s, Jethro Tull, Yes, King Crimson, Rush, ELP, and Pink Floyd amongst others. Truly brilliant and funny as hell.

Funnier still is that Black Sabbath inadvertedly did the same thing (albeit with a different approach) and got widely ridiculed for it too.

Heh, as many musicians would say, Spinal Tap WAS a true story. ;)

  • This song is awesome!

  • lmao

  • LMAO, so many people coming here after that Supernatural episode.... including me XD

  • sounds like those old neoprog bands. check out youtube for the band PALLAS. aah it is so stonehenge.

  • the problem with stonehenge is that it doesn't go to eleven.

  • Big time Jethro Tull parody.

  • @dharmaseed Jethro Tull was never even close to being this awesome

  • @SarajevoKyoto And they never had a model of Stonehenge that was in danger of being crushed by a dwarf!

  • @dharmaseed jethro tull were doing exactly this with thick is a brick but they accidentally made it so good that it's one of the most popular prog rock albums of all time, big time irony

  • Scientists, using the latest radio-carbon dating methods, recently determined that Duncan did indeed build Stonehenge.

  • Long live supernatural!!!!!!!!!

  • hehehehe .... ST not SH

  • My wife just started at university in Salisbury, which is near stonehenge. Whenever I see the regular tour buses going there, I chuckle and think of this song.

  • I play a slot machine game called Stonehenge, and I usually hum this song as I play it, and most of the time, lose my money, at least it makes it fun lol.

  • TIS A MAGIC PLACE WHERE THE MOON DOTH RISE

  • Comment removed

  • @Snugglefoots WHERE THE DEWDROPS CRY AND THE CATS MEOW

  • What do you get when you take the top stone off each of the Stonehenge tryptichs ??????

    Eleven, eleven, eleven......

  • @TomthatiscalledTom I learned that earlier today and my mind was blown

  • @TomthatiscalledTom 11 11 11

    1+1+1+1+1+1=6

And since it says it three times, 666?

    STONEHENGE IS SATANIC.

  • @mfighter96 Ah yes, but Spinal Tap are protected from the influence of Satan (two hooves) by the divine influence of St Hubbins, patron of quality footwear

  • @TomthatiscalledTom I JUST got that. LOL.

  • @TomthatiscalledTom i would have said dominos lol

  • @TomthatiscalledTom

    THAT is hiLARious!!!!

  • @TomthatiscalledTom I don't get is :S

  • @Darathath (Confused pause).........Stonehenge goes to eleven

  • @TomthatiscalledTom AH XD Spinal tap joke :D i get it.

  • the reason it's so funny and good is because the filmmakers had enough genuine appreciation for metal to do a really accurate and fitting parody.

  • Love the double thumb flailing...If only we were here tonight !

  • even it's a very funny song for a very funny scene,i find it's one of the best Heavy Metal song i ever heard!

  • The mandolin part in the middle break was almost in the movie. It's superb!

  • I love the breakdown on the lute in the last part of the song.

  • I can't believe that I like this song so much. Its so good even though its supposed to be a parody of prog rock.

  • eleven

  • I've always wanted to see Stonehenge :D

  • A classic. Much, much better than Tommy or Sgt. Peppers or Houses of the Holly.

  • stonehenge^^ i love this place:D:D

  • Spinal Tap clearly wrote that song to make fun of all the pretentious prog rock acts of the 70s, but in doing so made a damn great prog rock song!

  • Making a big thing out of it would have been a good idea.

  • @EvelTwinOfSlogmaster hahaha, yes!!!

  • EPIC. Noone can touch this song I can take my barbarian war axe and massacre villages in a single swipe nothing but devastation.

  • this song is new to me. what movie was it in?

  • @cfcoll SPINAL TAP YOU DUMBASS! i hope you were kidding

  • @1JAT1 There's no need to be rude...

  • @1JAT1 what did he say?

  • The Minstrel Solo is the best part

  • @AddEmergency It was on a madolin, funnely enought i only went on this vidieo to learn how to play it off my mandolin :P

  • @keith81081 Now we have a clue as to the day God created Spinal Tap...

  • hahah "where the dew drops dry, and the cats meow.." !!!! classic!!! how else would rhyme meow with how!

  • haa classic

  • And oh how they danced... the little children of stone 'endge :)

  • When I first saw this scene in the movie, I fell off the couch laughing so hard my abs hurt for a week. Well done.

  • " And the cats meow"..... WTH

  • This song is acturally really epic! im gona do a cover of it:p

  • It was. A robot head.

  • IT WAS A ROBOT HEAD

  • No we're not gonna fucking do Stonehenge!

  • Part of the humor of this song is that, as the opening lines say, no one really knows anything about what the people did at Stonehenge. Then, all of a sudden, Spinal Tap has it figured out.

  • Their wisdom surpasses that of renowned scholars.

  • @holisticaltruist Verily.

  • can i raise a practical question at this point?

    what!?

are we gonna do stonehenge tomorrow?

no we're not gonna fucking well do stonehenge!!

  • Lol the stones look like the number 11 :P .

  • are those stongehenges spelling 11!?

  • The song is really good, lol.

They are a real "comedy" band after all.

  • What do you get if you remove the top stone from each of the Stonehenge triptychs ?

    Eleven, eleven, eleven....

  • Forget this!

    Fuck the Napkin!

  • Spinal tap...the best band to never exist hahahaha

  • I have one question. Are we gonna play Stonehenge tommorrow?

  • @ironcross2010 No we're not gonna fucking do stonehenge!

  • @derkzukenval

what are you talking about you loony?

    on second thoughts...don't tell me.

  • some tune

  • I still don't see how a few midgets could trod upon such a monument.

  • @8BitTehGameMasta No...these were giant midgets who roamed the Earth in those days....

  • After listening to this, I listened to a lot of Yes, King Crimson and other prog rock bands.

Spinal Tap got them spot on!

  • @66richardson

Indeed! I hear a lot of Tull in Stonehenge.

  • As funny and weird as this scene in the movie was, I actually really liked the song. It's actually pretty good.

  • @SUPERTHEORYxOFxPUNK1 I know its kinda the point, but this song is totally Iron Maiden!!

  • @Joebo3 I don't know man, it's got more of a Jethro Tull feel to it.. To folky-prog to be Maiden!

  • @MetalChewdleg Ya, but with a hint of Boston. Some of the quiet parts remind me of "Foreplay/Long Time"

  • @MetalChewdleg I strongly agree! McKean was definitely doing an Ian Anderson riff when he sang this! I wanna be a druid!
