Bump Top has been acquired by Google as of June 2010. The free download of this desktop UI has been discontinued according to their announcement. Just search Bump Top for the latest. I like the way this looks...but since I keep my desktop 'empty' I don't really need it. I love my wallpaper photos (hi res~wide screen)...and keep all my desktop folders hidden. When I do use them I keep the along the bottom...kind of the way a Mac has it's desktop.

I don't mind the old-fashioned way of computing. I goto the start menu for stuff I need and voila! I'm good to go.

BUT I really like this for photos...too bad I couldn't have it just for them!

Nothing new in here, you still have file names i see, your piles (aka "folders") are extremely similar to a macs folders when you hover and see the contents etc. Linux did the 3d desktop thing on a cube and a room about 7 years ago, it got mostly dumped because people wanted to be able to USE the computer rather than look at pretty and slow stuff all day.

For some reason, this sounds a lot of work. I think I will stick with the Fences app. It organises my files and hides them from view when not needed. I like a clean pristine desktop at all times; this, on the other hand looks messy.

What shoudl be on your desctop should be icon like computer security, antivirus, recompose computer, create memory date, and some major programs, put into folders by what they are about. But no files. I never thought that nowaday, there was still people being so messy that they put all on their desktop!

For those with too many files, make mega folders by theme, then underbig folders by subject or date, and then under forlders with files by similarities. but still just put oyur docs where they shoudl be on your computer and kee short cuts for what you use most daily.

I am not riskin' my computer for a fonzie softapp that i dont need anyway.

If i really want the room, (microsoft got that picture as stsandard on Vista btw) I can take a pictur of a room, and put pictures on it with a standard photo program, and use it as background, and put all my usual folders on it.

Make a combination of this and usual Microsoft desckboard, and you got a winner. Like a usual desk, where oyu can activate that application onto when needed.

If I had loads of files on my desktop I usually delete those files or if there is some files I need later I greate new folder so I get clean desk so that pile thing is useless... That Bump Top smells like it will eat computers resources alot? "New" thing is only that 3D effect and some unimportant features that slowdown computer. But this is my opinion about this program and yes i tested this DumpTop program.
