It's just a matter of intelligence. And yes, the air in NYC is relatively clear compared to Beijing. I'll agree though, US cities like Los Angeles and Houston have pretty bad pollution problems, but as bad as Beijing. At Beijing got a little bit cleaner for the Olympics.

Every country is different, and it's very hard to control the weather or fix air problems, if you know what I mean. A lot of news stations are talking smack about China and how poorly they are doing as olympic hosts. But China isn't perfect and does have a lot of problems. But they are trying their best to make the world and the 204 countries happy and satisfied, and that's pretty unfair.

My goodness, China is killing it's own citizens with all that pollution. Check out the other videos of their pollution. Niagara Falls used to be like this. Still is, its just buried now. Water is polluted, ground, but air is better there now. Cancer rates are extremely high in that part of our country. I wonder why that is never reported.

The air quality in China is horrific, to be honest Bejing isn't even close to being the worst. I think it was Wuhan where you couldn't even see the sky because of the pollution, a constant permahaze. I have travelled extensively and China has the worst air quality of any nation I have been. China deserves all the negative press it receives around the Olympics. The IOC must have been bribed large to allow China to host the Olympics.

Why was China awarded the games? Surely, someone in the IOC noticed there was a problem w/pollution. Why wasn't cleaner air quality a requirement before China ever be considered for the games? I don't understand how athletes can compete if they cannot breathe due to affects of pollution. It's a very different situation than breathing difficulty due to altitude, I think. Or is it? It's really hard for foreign athletes to even train in China because they are not used to so much polution.

Remember that China is the number 1 polluter in the entire world.

Complaints from athletes and their comissions are thousands and some countries are delaying their athletes arrival, fearing they may get wear out with that dangerous air.
