man i still cant wrap my head around the fact that you guys are on the left side of the road, my brain keeps telling me your on the wrong side of the road lol
Just seen video after 4 years lol. I have an factory standard SV650S SK9. Great video I will do some myself and will be delighted if like yours. My bike is my ONLY transort 24 7 365 so no fair weater talk here please. December harde core ride man. I know a lot of those areas and am often out that way is lets say Derbyshire Cheshire and Staffordshire. Ride safe mate.
Ironic advice @0:54. I use these roads every day & 95% of dickheads are fair weather bikers who use the roads as their own personal race track (and then squeal and blame a 'cager' when they come off, while doing 120mph).
have just bought a 2005 sv650s with a blue flame exhaust (which sounds unbelievable). Extremely pretty bike. Picking it up 2moro so wont be getting any sleep 2night. upgrade from 2 years of cbr125r so the torque will be lovely im sure
Ive got a 1999 SV650S. Love it. Only problem I have with it is the clunky gear changes. It doesnt happen all the time but when it does its annoying. Just a loud clunk like when you go from Neutral to 1st. Except this can happen going from 2nd to 3rd r 3rd to 4th. REALLY annoying but still love the bike.
Road: a640 (from outlane to denshaw) > a6052 (denshaw to delph) > a62 through huddersfield and back towards mirfield where I used to live... The roads are pretty good round there, but there's just not enough of them. Holmfirth to Glossop & then glossop to ladybower is one of my fav routes - recommended :)
camera was a dogcam pro 520 (google dogcamsport co uk) linked into a 10 year old miniDV camcorder.. They do full setups with recorders which use memory cards :) thanks for watching!
Thanks for the comment, luckily for us in the UK, filtering through traffic (I think I've heard US riders call it lane splitting) is legal as long as you dont cross and solid white lines on the road. Broken/dotted lines indicate it's legal to cross over as long as its safe to do so. There's also a precedent in some UK courtcase which suggests you shouldn't filter at more than 20mph, and should stop filtering once traffic is moving at over 20mph (20/20 rules)
@paulthe6th Sorry, guess I shoulda realized the laws would be different haha. You should definitely be careful doin that though bro. Also, I'm not from the US xD I'm Canadian
oh canada, oh canada... sorry I couldn't help myself. Aside from the speed of modern bikes and rider error, I think filtering accounts for a large proportion of road traffic collisions in the UK, from wreckless filtering on the part of the rider, through to dopey car & van drivers getting fed up and performing a u-turn to get out of the queue, only to end up with a biker through their drivers side window.
erm, the sv650 will hit around 140mph indicated. I once had about 147mph downhill with tailwind etc... but loads of people told me that was physically impossible because the sv isn't geared for it. I know that's what it said on the speedo but I never ever got near that sort of speed ever again. All the power is in the mid-range with the v-twin so the engine has already run out of steam by the time you're trying to hit max speed...
this is over saddleworth moor near scammonden, delph and slaithwaite (all proper Yorkshire names lol)..
Up in the pennine hills between huddersfield and oldham. Nice roads but not very many of them to be honest, the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales is the place to be :)
I try and get over to peak district as often as possible mate - awesome roads and even better scenery... Holmefirth, holme moss, across the valley and over to glossop then left down the snake pass, stop at the snake pass in for a steak sarny, onto the strines moor and back into huddersfield :D
gonna do a video of that route as soon as the weather is better :D
Hi Paul, I've been thinking about getting an SV650 S. I was wondering if you could let me know how it feels for pillions, as it looks a tad high for them.
yeah there are probably better bikes for carrying pillion to be honest. Having said that there are loads of people from the sv forums who attend the big rideouts with their partners on the back.. (some of these are big weekends away to scotland 400+ miles and they seem to manage)..
But yeah it is quite high on the back end for pillions
I think the perception of whether a bike feels slow or not is quite a subjective thing. My sv1000 felt quick when I got it, I'm looking for more now though lol
Just watch out over the Nont Sarahs road (A640) during winter - many people have been killed down at the 90 degree bends at the dam, including a good friend of mine who worked in Shaw.
the sv650 is somehow slow... compared to any other sport bike around 600cc. Its a lovely bike for any kind of trip, comfortable and fast enough. Its not a naked tourer-like bike, not a pure sport machine.
I'd have to agree that it's not a supersport rocket like the cbr, gsxr, r6 or ninja 600 but it'll still crack 60 in around 3.5 seconds with a nice early kick of torque at around 7 thousand revs, whereas with the supersport 600's you constantly have to thrash them to 9 or 10 thousand revs to hit the real power = sv is much more useable for new riders. I'd recommend it as a first big bike :)
Pretty cool m8.I need to do sum videos, i already have my cam /helmet set up.The ole v570.Ride safe .Ignore the haters .Theres less hateing on livevideocom.
I agree with tn21beer, the garage bit at the beginning was a good touch, very humurous.
I no longer ride (four wheels these days) but you have got me thinking about getting a cam fitted in the car! the scenery round here is not too bad either (but not as ruggedly beautiful as Yorkshire).
Over here we say always assume that there are three dickheads round the next bend, and two of them are probably pissed!
I love the start of this, with you getting rdy and going to the garage! good touch. Im tempted by one of these for my first bike, might get the gs500f though for a start.
thanks for all the comments guys, the song is Mark Ronson feat Paul Smith - Apply Some Pressure (originally by maximo park)... love the string section :)
I was planning on heading out this saturday from Leeds to the east coast via the moors but the metoffice weather report has just turned turd for saturday :( ah well
oh and the next vid will have a better camera angle.

is the ninja 650r faster than the sv650s?
im trying to decide between the two.
also ive heard the sv650s has a awkward riding position with the high pegs and the reach for the bars. is it true?
i live in spain so advice welcome. thanks
