  • Qin Shi Huang was cruel but he did stop the hundreds of years of wars that plagued China.

  • Ancestors worship is always the Chinese ture religion

  • subba

  • i really wonder who would win: china vs. rome.

its a question i've been wondering for a while.

but if i have to choose, unfortunately, i'd choose rome cause their army is a lot more organized than the chinese....although they're lacking quite a bit in numbers..lol

  • @CHRISTIANSOLDIER101 by conscription,,, also Qin military sistem and culture rather different than Han

  • Only the Han are destined to rule the Middle Kingdom.

All other barbarians have failed miserably.

The Great Han, by mandate of Heaven, will forever be the rulers of the Middle Kingdom.

  • The Middle Kingdom was so much more advanced the any other civilization it's not even funny!

But thanks to the barbarian Mongols and Machus the Middle Kingdom crumbled and were defeated by various other barbarians.

Good thing that the Han have taken back the Middle Kingdom and are currently rebuilding it and the path back to being the number one civilization is being paved!!

Long Live Middle Kingdom and the Han race!!!

  • @Shaolinkungfucat long live the land of the 2 inch penis. all it would take to conqer china is 100 scotch men to pull out there cocks and the chink armys would flee the field of battle and there women would rush to get a taste of the highland white snake

  • @johnyjoe2

Typical homosexual thought process. Always concerned with other males' genital size.

    HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

If you love penis so much. Why don't you go suck your Dad's?

Faggot barbarians. Stay away from my penis.

  • @Shaolinkungfucat you aint got one you fucking ken doll

  • @johnyjoe2

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH stop staring at my penis you faggot.

  • @Shaolinkungfucat u aint got 1 u plik go eat some flyed lyce

  • Rome's 80,000 to Chin's 1,000,000...let's do the math and see who would come up

  • @PebBleishRock It depends. The Romans lived in an area where the population couldn't grow too much, and it was also likely that their government didn't have the time to adapt to the needs of a giant population. With China, a civilization that was much older, they had more time in ways and more land to adapt to, though...I wouldn't say that numbers alone defeat the other side.

However, you're right on one thing: the Chinese are not weaklings.

  • @PebBleishRock it's up to many factor beside number,,, yeah i agree normally a unified dynasty will have minimal 1 million army but the exact number going to battlefield probably between 100000-200000 coz more easier logistical supply than 1 million,,, but qin and successor dynasty sure have many reserve

  • China will never claim to be Number 1 but we will not accept being second

  • 3rd Deng opening China to Capitalism. "Its good to be Rich" "Doesn't matter if it is a black cat or if it is a white cat, if it can catch mouses it is a good cat" took only 30 to turn China from having nothing into the richest nation. Fastest economic growth in human history.

    40% Communism + 40 Capitalism + 20% Democracy = China

People can have rights but not too much because it gets out of hands just look at the US. In maintain Orders you need Laws, if it needs to be enforce then be it.

  • Chin Emperor United all 6 warring states.

Establish 1 ruling family first dynasty, 1 system

Chin Emperor = King of all Kings

2nd is Mao Uniting a crumbling China after 400 yrs of wars and invasions under the weak Qing dynasty. Breaking the old traditions and superstitions moving it towards the 21st century. Uniting 56 ethnics groups, regaining our lost territories and rights to stand as equals in the families of Nations.

  • @iamXAW then i think it is show superiority fajia (legalism) toward rujia (confucianism), right???

  • If some have the full clip they should uploaded it

  • the dislikes on this are probably from racist fucktards

  • where's the rest of it godammit.

  • Personally I agree with ancient Chinese scholars Qin Shihuang was nothing but a tyrannical despot who killed millions. His sweeping away of the feudal system was undone by Xiang yu after the fall of the Qin dynasty; it was liu bang and his successors who did away with the feudal system. His great wall was completed by the Han and most of it is gone today.

  • @SaveChinaTiger Not really. Qin Shi Huang was portrayed as a despot by the Confucian scholars, people who wanted to split China up so that they could enjoy their lives in wealth. The Great Wall was completed after the emperor's death, but...keep in mind of this: If it wasn't for that wall, the Huns would have destroyed the Chinese society millenia ago. Liu Bang was a weakling who actually supported the feudal system. It was Han Wu Di who destroyed it, not Liu Bang.

  • @Teruame i can't agree more,,, beside that many standarization by Qin brought progress for chinese society back then

  • @SaveChinaTiger LOL history about Qin Shi Huang and Qin Dynasty written during Reign Emperor Wu of Han by Sima Qian,,, of course Han want Qin look bad to legitimized their rule as better benefactor toward Chinese people,,,, History is very subjective and written by winner,,, so better to take history as pitch of salt,, in the truth Qin give strong example and ground for many their successor about how to rule all under heaven

  • If china was ruled the day it was in qin dynasty today , military enlistenment would be compuslory and china would have 318 million soldiers and a single assualt would definately smash those ignorant americans or whites.

  • I dont see why some people would comepare the Qin Dynasty Empire and the Roman Empire, both were incredible in their technology, tatics and styles. Both fielded armies that shook the earth with a step and both excelled at fighting their battles. Tho as an asian I cant help but feel immense pride=D

  • @TheLeafDragon The Roman empire is taken as a standard to compare other civilizations, because it represents the very foundation of Western culture. Seeing as most people who watches these documentaries are mostly influence from the West, it gives them an idea of how an alternative civilization is like, such as China, India, Persia, etc.

  • @Graymoths Roman empire is not the foundation of western culture. The foundation of western culture is the ancient greeks, roman were heavily influenced by ancient greeks.

  • @canadianfirzen Yes, but the Greek city states were eventually conquered by the Romans. And the Roman empire is the one that unified most of what we call "Europe" today. So it's safe to assume that it was the basis for Western civilization. Besides, I was talking about the size of the civilization in comparison with China. If we were talking about the Greek civilization, the smallest Chinese dynasty could easily outmatched that.

  • @Graymoths Not exactly. If you're talking about the Classical Period, then yes, the tiny Greek city states were outmatched by any of the Warring States in China during the Eastern Zhou period. If you're talking about the Hellenistic Period, after Alexander conquered much of Western Asia and Central Asia, along with Egypt, then the Greek world was an easy match. Not even including all the Greek Mediterranean colonies in Sicily, southern Italy, France, and Spain.

  • @EricMetalGuitarist Can't argue with that, but during the Tang, China held much power over the silk road which is quite alot of territories, and especially those near Central Asia (which explains why Xinjiang is a part of China today). Also, during the Mongol Empire, China (Beijing) was considered the capital and it took over most of Asia.

  • asian pride!!!!!!

  • Some linguists suggest that ancient chinese 2000 years ago may not have tones, unlike the modern mandarin. Here is the reconstructed ancient chinese pronunciation of numbers from 1 to 10: qlig (one) njis (two) suum (three) hljids (four) nga (five) rug (six) snhid (seven) preed (eight) gu (nine) gjub (ten) Sounds quite different from modern mandarin pronunciation, right?
  • I did a lot of researches on ancient chinese pronunciation, and it turns out that ancient chinese pronunciation is very different from modern chinese pronunciation.

  • China was once a great nation, it fell into disarray and now it's rising again.

  • I still can't figure out why the chinese "ch" sound was romanised with a "Q" in english....

  • @j4allen

Actually, the ancient chinese pronunciation of the word "chin" is probably "dzin" or "zin", so maybe you should call Chin Dynasty as Dzin Dynasty or Zin Dynasty.

  • @TheXanian

Exactly. I just don't get why in English there is a "Q"

  • simple Chinas greatest military genius... Qin Shi Huan Di the Greatest one

just comparable to Julius Caesar, Napoleon, Mao tse tun and Alexander the Great

    or Pachacutec Inca.

  • The Qin army is nothing but continuation Zhou, Shang, Xia army..... Yellow Emperor army.

  • The Chinese and Romans never saw each other as enemies, they regarded each other as equal regional powers. Don't believe me? Each end of the silk road is connected to the two empires, and cultural exchanges had been recorded. Some sources even claim that some intermarriage had occurred, as researchers had found that some Chinese people in Liqian to possess Caucasian features.

  • @CHRISTIANSOLDIER101

The link between the Xiongnu and Huns has been alleged for quite a long time, but scholars are still divided over the issue. They were most likely one in the same, but unfortunately there's just not enough solid, conclusive evidence to say for sure. The Huns were a huge threat to both the Eastern and Western Roman Empires, but their empire was broken apart by the Ostrogoths, who eventually conquered Italy after Odoacer toppled the Western half of the empire.

  • @CHRISTIANSOLDIER101

[Continued]...of course, it was rare when more than about ten to twenty thousand of these troops would see any real action or fighting during their service. Some battles between the Han and Xiongnu, however, allegedly involved tens of thousands of casualties on either side. Those are gargantuan figures for premodern times, especially before the battles of more recent conflicts such as the American Civil War in the 1860s.

  • @CHRISTIANSOLDIER101

No, at times the Han Dynasty could have maintained up to a million conscripted soldiers throughout all of China, especially during Western Han when conscription was mandatory for commoners. Notice that I said 100,000 to 200,000 were utilized during single campaigns against the Xiongnu, a conflict which would have taken place exclusively in Northern China, not all of China. That is, modern Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Gansu, and Xinjiang provinces.

  • @CHRISTIANSOLDIER101

...and the Qin conscripted army was not counted in the "millions" plural, don't be naive. It was perhaps roughly a million soldiers overall, with a smaller standing army. Think of the financial burden of paying for such an army in ancient times, let alone the logistics of supplying it. The subsequent Han Dynasty could muster 100,000, sometimes 200,000 conscripted soldiers in single campaigns against the Xiongnu, with a small, professional standing army of about 10,000.

  • @EricMetalGuitarist actually Qin army didn't get payed by money,,, but by food according rank of soldier,, and the reward for merit in battlefield by noble rank, tax exemption, labour exemption or reduced penalty for a family member who get punished by government,,, one of these

  • @CHRISTIANSOLDIER101

And? I explicitly said that was the Roman Empire's population at its zenith (1st-2nd century AD, early Imperial era); Rome during the Second Punic War (i.e. late 3rd century BC) ruled a much smaller Republic. Compare Rome's ability then to muster 80,000 troops to Rome's later standing army in the 2nd century AD, which hovered around 400,000 troops. Of course, this was contemporary with China's Eastern Han Dynasty, not the earlier Qin Dynasty.

  • @CHRISTIANSOLDIER101

If you have access to JSTOR, you could start by reading "Size and Duration of Empires: Growth-Decline Curves, 600 B.C. to 600 A.D," Social Science History 3 (3/4): by Rein Taagepera (1979), particularly page 125.

Is this a surprise to you? The only comparable enemy to Rome after the fall of the Seleucids was the Parthian Empire of the Near and Middle East. Regardless, a direct military confrontation between Han and Rome does not make sense geographically.

  • @CHRISTIANSOLDIER101

But how much larger would China's population have been? The earliest known census for China was taken in the early 1st century AD (late Western Han), counting over 57 million people. At its height, the population of the Roman Empire is estimated to have had a population shifting between over 50 million to over 80 million people. So your assumption is wrong, thus victory in war would have more to do with tactics, training, and technology.

  • @EricMetalGuitarist although some of ur arguments is too exaggerating 80million ppl in rome? It is almost next to impossible, but still better than Chinese Rome supporters who always like to say Rome had about 170million pop

  • @canadianfirzen 170 million is outlandish for one empire in antiquity. But 80 million certainly is not, since the concurrent Han Empire of China is estimated to have fluctuated between 50 to 60 million people. The Roman Empire not only controlled all of Western Europe and huge parts of Eastern Europe, but all of Mediterranean North Africa, all of Asia Minor, all of the Levant, and Egypt. Ptolemaic Egypt alone had a sizable population.

  • @EricMetalGuitarist But now that I think about it, I see China and Rome as completly equal. After doing a bit of research about sino-roman relations, they actually considered one another to be equals during their time. Apparently, the Romans had an obsession with Chinese silk and even used it as some form of currency. Also, there appears to be "descendants" of Roman legionaries in Liqian, China, where Chinese people foster blue eyes and blond hair .. Interesting ..

  • @EricMetalGuitarist 170 million is outlandish? Ya, I think so too but some Chin Roman always say that, and I don't even know where they get that from... but still I don't think that estimation is correct. You do know China has richer soil than the places you talked about right? Even though you control a big land, I still highly doubt the efficiency of agriculture to support such a huge population. I mean Europe can eventually get to that point, but 2000 yrs ago?I still think it is outlandish

  • @canadianfirzen And that is exactly why you are wrong: you're only thinking about Europe. Any historian specializing in the Greco-Roman world will tell you that Rome's greatest grain supply was fostered in North Africa, garnered especially from the fertile Nile of Egypt. Even before Octavian conquered Egypt, the Romans were importing massive amounts of grain from the Ptolemies. Otherwise there would have been a shortage of food and riots in Rome.

  • I is a grave insult to say Qin Shihuangdi a "warrrior king", which probably suggests that he was kind of a "barbarian chieftain". Ying Zheng was the first EMPEROR of our civilization, whether you foreigners believe it or not.

  • @Hanueberalles

??? I was unaware that someone didn't believe the existence of Qin Shihuangdi. I would say his gigantic Terracotta Army, coupled with the overwhelming historical source information and archaeological finds including weapons, documents, luxury items, grave goods, etc. dating to the Qin period would surely be enough to change anyone's mind! Lol.

  • where is the whole movie?

  • Rome? LMFAO...

A State of of the Empire of China would be enough to crush the entire Roman Empire. The population would be simply too massive for the Romans to handle.

  • wait why dose it say rome had 80 thousand troops to counter hanibal that was from punic war ar the battle of cannae

  • @abawi19 They are just comparing the two civilizations. Essentially that at a time when Romans could only muster 80,000 men to deal with Hannibal, Qin Shi Huang Di had an invasion force of 1 million men to crush his neighbors underfoot. It gives the Western audience an idea of the size and power of the most powerful of the six kingdoms of China during the Warring States era.

  • china is better than rome

  • @SeriousSam505 my dad could beat your dad up!!

  • you don't know my dad, how do you know that?

  • @SeriousSam505

Hmm. I would say Qin and Western-Han China were more powerful than the Roman Republic before 146 BC. But by that year Rome conquered both the Carthaginian Empire of North Africa, Spain, and the Mediterranean islands and the Greek city-states. By the time of Rome's first emperor, Augustus (died 14 AD), Rome had expanded into what is now modern France, western Germany, Egypt, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, and made Armenia a client kingdom (the Parthians did as well).

  • @SeriousSam505 [continued] ...not to mention the Roman conquest of what is now modern-day England and Wales of Great Britain during Claudius' reign (41 - 54 AD). In contrast, Western Han and Eastern Han had control over China proper, northern Vietnam, northern Korea, and the Tarim Basin of Central Asia leading into what is now Afghanistan. I'm not sure which one was actually bigger in terms of total land mass, but "better" could mean many things. Please specify!

  • @SeriousSam505

We Chinese believe that Rome was a great empire and respected them deeply, both Chinese and Roman shared the same greatness.

  • @SeriousSam505 Literally. By population, by the measure of occupied lands, by its influence. Ancient China surpassed Rome in many aspects. However, one thing that I don't agree with is both of their cultures. No one can say which culture is more superior. :P I love Chinese culture and Roman/Greek mythology. :)

  • @SeriousSam505 Actually, that depends. It depends on the time period, the settings and the situation if the two nations were to war against each other. The Romans had their chance to do well, as did the Chinese, and even as a person of Chinese descent, I have to admit that the Romans are quite capable as well.

  • That giant ball battering ram seems so cool.

1 million soldiers of Qin? I think that is a bit too much, accumulatively I believe that can be true but the most Qin gathered in one battle was in the Battle of Changping, no more than 500 000 to 600 000 soldiers.

  • it's in the entire war not just in 1 battle

  • @BlloodRayyven Qin sent 600000 soldier and losing half of them,,, Zhao defend with 500000 and only 286 remains

  • The burying of 400000 surrendered soldiers from the Zhao state had nothing to do with the First Emperor of China. It has to do with his grandfather, then King Zhao of Qin. The general responsible for the crushing defeat of the Zhao, Bai Qi the Marquis of Wu'an, was given the death sentence latter on.

  • @sephodwyrm I read he committed suicide. Bai Qi the butcher committed suicide. He was force yo but it is still suicide.

  • @sephodwyrm Certainly one of the best chinese general if not the best

  • Xiang Yu(项羽) saying "剑一人敌,不足学,学万人敌", 项羽跟项梁一起旁观皇帝出巡,羽说彼可取而代也

  • 刘邦也说过,大丈夫当如此!

  • if batista can wreck chinas whole army, then bruce lee would kill off the entire western society, including the mexicans

  • Batista can't even do push ups with one finger. Bruce Lee could do push ups with one finger, and break someone's pressure point

  • Batista should shut you up for being more stupid than he is

  • if u could break someones pressure point it would be called breaking point.

  • @magma3000 i can do a cock push up 9 inches of the ground id like to se bruce lee do that

  • Batista is a joke. WWE is fake.

  • I love Japan AND China, the war was 70 years ago, it's time to move on.

  • hey why the fck did i say your mad cus japense pll owne du r family wtf o.o i can't rmemeber and theres no comments sayign anything lol i love national geographic :D!

  • Qin Shui Huangdi, his methods were harsh, but effective. China wouldn't of existed without him.

  • At that time, every kingdom in China was connected by blood realtionship. Zhou tianzi was the leader of every kings. However, the realtionship would fade because the time went. Kings respected Zhou tianzi at first, but with the time went, no king repected Zhou tianzi again.Every king wanted to be the next tianzi. Qin was the successer!

  • that is just a thin connection between every kindom, they just kept some intermarriages between the royalties, large diffences of their origins, life styles, business and so on activities were between diffent kindoms. even kids also know even if it is in mordern age you cant completely infuse 2 different groups of people, then say nothing of diffrent kingdoms of acient times. what you siad is just some pre-time recordations which r not very factual. dont be so superstitious

  • with books. so curtly introducing china's complex acient history, you seemed to be so sloppy.

  • not many differences, evrybody can move to a different kindom if they want to, and without any preparation of learning "other" culture. the best example is Qin shi huang's chancellor, Li Si, he is from kindom of Chu. so many ministers who are from other kindom to help Qin shi huang to reunited China.

ps. TianZi in dynasty Xia, Shang, And Zhou are known as King(im not sure about the tile), but Qin shi huang is the first emperor of China.

  • @squallgzy well that what happen when you give too much power toward your own vassal

  • At that time, Zhou tianzi which means "the son of heaven" was still the leader of whole China, although he lost his power very early. It was duty for leaders of every kingdoms to protect Zhou tianzi together when other ethnics attacked him, although the leaders attacked each other very often.

  • @squallgzy yeah if only King You of Zhou didn't playing with watchtower probably prestisge and power of Zhou won't suffered so badly

  • whos batista?

  • really? i never heard of him. wait that WWE dude?

  • wish i could meet you in person. :-)

  • sry didn't think wa si was saying just ignore that comment insanepeng is just another white redneck talking shit

  • even the japanese didn't do that. burried their enemies alived.

  • oh yeah but they used some prisoners for bayonet training 60 years ago all over asia and some they burned alive...much less cruel

  • O__o???? okay you people lost me.

  • i just find all this amazing and interesting. those who don't under or doubt can just stay that way as far as i can see.

  • comon' spartan is a myth, just like jesus.

it's the LOTR of their time.

  • sparta was NO myth the place exist where 300 spartans killed over 20,000 persians includin the persian king's brother n his nest 10000 elite troops "the BBC the spartans" b4 they where surrounded n all died its the greeks that stop the persian empire invading europe n allowed demogracy to flurish for all our benefits as for the chinese been cruel that for me is very hard to believe as chinese are usually peaceful loving people but i quess in so many u do get the nasty ones too

  • so u really believe that each spartan slaughter 10,000 persian back then?and xerses actually send his entire population half way round the continent to conquer greece?chinese also have a legend of a single man killed 10,000 enemy back in the 3 kingdom period.but i don't believe on that crap.

  • oh please~ 300 is a fiction my friend. the true history is actually like 2000 greeks, whichled by the 300 spartans, stood against Xerxis. Battle of Thermopylae is the true name of this battle. i can't believe you use this as a example.

  • In the Battle of Thermopylae (as detailed almost entirely by Herodotus), which occurred in 480 BC, an alliance of Greek city-states fought the invading Persian Empire at the pass of Thermopylae in central Greece. Vastly outnumbered, the Greeks held back the Persians for three days in one of history's most famous last stands......(1 OF 2)

  • A small force led by King Leonidas of Sparta blocked the only road through which the massive army of Xerxes I of Persia could pass. After three days of battle, a local resident named Ephialtes is believed to have betrayed the Greeks by revealing a mountain path that led behind the Greek lines. Dismissing the rest of the army, King Leonidas stayed behind with 300 Spartans, 700 Thespian volunteers, 400 Thebans that had been pressed into service, and 900 Helots.

  • these are direct copy from wiki. according to it, the last stand of the battle of Thermopylae is over 2000 greeks already. should be more if you count the dismissed.

  • the mountain path was manned by a 1000 thebans but the run when they saw the vast number of persians coming at them yet they could have prevented then passing through as it was also a very narrow passage that's how the spartans where surrrounded n died in the end the shepperd betrayed his country for persian gold, ty but still the greatest battle in history

  • that's not the point. the point is on that narrow passage which they made their last stand, there are more then 300 spartans there. and that's just the last stand. the grand total of the greek forces in this battle is estimate to be somewhere around 5000~6500 ppl. and i have to say. i don't think that is not the greatest battle in history simply because they DID NOT win.

  • it was NOT 5 or 6000 greeks wik. does not tell the truth like hollywood n troy just BS n the greeks beat the persians n send them back saving greece n europe maybe wik. takes is information from hollywood too, without the 300 spartan persia would have won BUT they lost lossing half their navy in the naval battle of salamis b4 they retreated never to return n attack greece ever

next battle was on persian soil Alexander the greatest commander ever not to wik. or u maybe

  • com on man~ the info that wiki has is based on Herodotus of Halicarnassus the greek historian. some others count more then he does actually. Alexander is one of the great western commander. but he's an half ass compares to ganghis khan.

  • piss off man my mate studied in the Royal Military Academy Sandhurts n he told me they study all great commander n their tactics n Alexander was by far the best so did the BBC on their excellent documentary about the great commanders BUT of course wiki said different so it must be as hollywood wiki said good thinking man by the way did u try genghis ass? am sure u also know more than the classical historian professor Michael Woods

  • lol!!! you and your BBC documentary. oh well~ what can i say. good luck and have a nice day

  • you too n ty yes i do trust the BBC good night

  • what the hell does this have to do with the qin and chin army?

  • @polygamous1 actually they have support from another 2000 greeks mercenaries and battle it self happened on narrow valley,,, if it happened on open battlefield we know the rest of story

  • Also you know what avatarion, maybe this is why Virginia Tech happened and don't act dumb like you don't know. That guy gave a bad name for asians, but look at what happened. He killed over 20 people or more because of dumbfucks like you. See my point?

  • Also what if I'm smart? It's better than being a dumbass gangster wannabe with your dam cult. I know everyone isn't the same, but go ahead and be a stupid racist cause you're the one who's gonna look like bull crap. Oh yeah and what do you guys do? You throw chickens into walls and electrocute them ALIVE!!!!

  • What? You think all asian people eat dogs huh? Well, you're dam wrong. I OWN a dog and I dun eat it. Also you dumbass kid you think white people are better than everyone else? Are you dumb? You're insulting everyone with your dam ego including your own race. This is why some people can't stand you REDNECKS.

  • redneck scum so damn are so damn ignorant .. you sure made him shut the hell up

  • LETS BOIL COWS ALIVE OR SKIN THEM ALIVE ...fuck all dog & cat eaters (SCUM)

  • batista would own their whole army

  • Batista is an actor.

  • Che if all Chinese died what do you think will happen to your stuff. Almost everything we have, including computers, come from Asian companies across the sea. Also not to be rude, but would you mind looking at what you did to other races over the past few centuries or so? You guys, in the past, had tortured and killed millions. Remember WW2 and what racism, ego, and power does to people?! Well?!?! Besides not EVERYONE is the same as your dumb stereotype beliefs. Get more smarter before you spazz

  • hell i dun care how many downs i get from agreeing with u...u white dogs racist to black people

  • Yep We skin barbarian racist like you too in a more brutal way.

  • yennymariel, I think you need to know first if there's no fur order from the western, the fur farm won't run in any way because the local demand itself is very low. I think you gotta hate your people before you hate Chinese after you know the whole truth. See from your comment, are you just 12 year old?

  • Confucius says: stfu.
