  • I heard some people say some pretty bashful things about this synth. It sounds pretty dang good though, I dont know, maybe its not the synth thats good but the guy thats using it.

    GREAT JOB, MAN!!!!!

  • I see you still use tapes... Thumbs up!

  • A friend of mine had this thing. Bought it voor 25 euro, sold it for 400, hehehehehe

  • Amazing!

Did you use any external effect?

  • Wow!

It seems to have the best sounding filter of the Sh series. Maybe is it different from the other Sh brothers?

  • Amazing!!!

How did you get reverb and delay out of the dep 5 at the same time? Don't the two effects share the same processor?

  • there is no delay and reverb at the same time...

  • Yes! I also have a SH-5 and the filter sound different. The SH-1000 seems to have a 24 dB filter - a bit Moog-like.

  • @AnalogAudio1 was that the same filter that was the source of the lawsuit involving the SH 3 (Moog vs Roland)? I have a SH-1000 and it has an amazing ethereal sound to it that I haven't encountered on other SH's.

  • @travisrlel you are right, the filter sounds different from the other SH's, more Moog-like (unlike a SH-5 for example). But I don't know if it's the same issue like with the SH-3, because I never had one.

It's a fact, that it's not a real Moog filter - it has a Roland-sound, but with a strong tendency to sound "moogish". In fact, such percussive, fast envelope settings I never obtained from my SH-5.

  • @AnalogAudio1 The filter in question is a 24db/oct ladder filter (like Moog) but with diodes instead of transistors (unlike Moog).

  • @myrmur

    wow

that's exactly what i wanted to type

  • Brilliant Demo. Well done. I can just imagine, some dude back in the early 70's. flairs long hair, droopy moustache, Keyboard player, in a clubbing band, amazing the audience, with the out of this world weird sounds. groovey. LOL .

  • Great demo of the SH-1000!

I bought mine used at a musical flea market for $50 sometime back in the late 1980's! I enjoyed it for several years and used it for demo recordings and jam sessions! It was accidently knocked from its stand and busted up in the early 1990's! : ( I eventually sold the pieces to a neighbor for $25!

  • love the sound of those klaus schulze-esque leads. great video.

  • haha! best 135 i ever spent ! a guy comes into my lawnmower shop and was talking about his band . .i mentioned i play and record everything but drums .. he laughs and says "have you ever heard of this stuff called "ambient music" and "there was this guy who started it all called brian eno'.. i held back my laughter and the he says.. "hey maybe you want this synthesizer i got in my garage .. it looks like an organ but its a roland" leaving my "cool card " at home has paid off.. great demo.. ..

  • thanks... yes, it's a very cool synthesizer!

  • yes and you show it off well..

like hearing but not seeing "godsyntha" coming to destroy your town.. godzilla's musical cousin ..

  • I have this synth. Believe me WITHOUt the DEP-5 it only sounds GOOD. As demonstrated here, WITH the DEP-5, good grief, it sounds FANTASTIC! I'm off to EBAY to get me an DEP-5 to use with mine! Thanks analogAudio1!

  • Hi! You are right. It's not only the SH-1000. But also it's not the DEP-5. It's me, who is fantastic! :-D

I can really recommend you the DEP-5. It's very cheap, it has knobs like analog gear! But note, it has 32 kHz sampling frequency. Despite of this, it can sound great. Sadly, you have a little display and you can't name your own programs.

  • Beautiful! What an incredibly versatile little synth.

  • What kind of effect (I guess the DEP-5 FX is a multieffect) did you actually put on that?

  • it is a simple delay program from DEP-5, which I modified. I modified it in that way, that it sounds like an analog delay (the signal becomes more and more softer/darker).

  • Hi,

Amazing demo ! I actually have a SH2000 I work on repairing... But I also got a DEP5 and would like to ask how you modified it for high-cut on the delay returns ?

  • I modified the factory delay program, not the DEP-5 itself :-)

  • nnnnice demo

    like a tangerin dream!?

    :)

    roland 1973 synthesizer

    very nice!

  • thanks!

  • Nice demo!

  • thanks! :-)
