  • Would like to see Himbo Jones twatted, but I agree with SM87 above that both Borwn and Holland are poseurs who imagine they are much more talented than they are. It's astonishing the claims that are made for both of them. Brown is a stoner retard and Holland is a New Orleans piano bar imitation (and not as good as the REAL guys down there). I hate the back slapping showbiz atmos of Later - it's runied as a medium for showing truly new music. We live in shallow times my friends, shallow times.

  • top work ian...

  • Very intelligent man.

  • Good to see Ian so relaxed. Steve Jones is a no mark chiidrens TV presenter. Ian should havedecked the Welsh wanker!

  • @cozener1

Intelligent questions get intelligent answers, I guess. This interview and the one with Tony Wilson see Ian relaxed and forthcoming. Steve Jones asked stupid fucking questions, had a piss taking nature about him and he nearly got sparked for his troubles.

  • yeh its obvious steve jones is a fucking reptile

  • Ian Brown, one of the greatest things to come out of Manchester along with Morrissey and Manchester United ( without the Glazier twats )

  • @peedutt where have manchester united relocated to?

  • ian's heroes where biggie smalls :O thats amazing he is a brilliant english artist :)

  • From a female fan - Ian Brown was the most beautiful man in the world in 1989 - he was my first love and now my lovely daughter sees old footage and thinks he's cute too - He's down to earth, hugely talented and crazy - The Stone Roses were a groundbreaking, amazing band that created a stunning sound and converted a generation. Freedom to Party!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Fucking legend.

    Massive respect for Ian brown.

He deserves more recognition, but in a way I'm glad he doesn't get too much fame.

Let the brain dead keep their shitty pop manufactured crap and we can keep the gems to ourselves.

    Jools Holland is chill.

  • I love how pissed off people are at Steve Jones and Topman.

  • love ian brown, MCR

  • it's all shit now, like some disco rubbish

  • i smoked a spliff with dre lol the crowd get shocked its just a spliff

  • QUE PASO?

  • Jaysus! i just watched that interveiw he did with Steve Jones on t4 before watchin this, and "Fuckin hell" it made me angry to see the way Ian was treated,

not like this interveiw, where they showed genuine admiration for each other, Gotta hand it to Jools too, he treats everyone on the show with the same respect,

  • That's the difference between someone as clever as Jools and that smarmy know-nothing Steve Jones. I hate how TV companies seem to think people my age would like to see smug knobheads in Topman shirts everywhere on the telly.

    Give me Jools Holland anyday.

  • ha yea. you wouldnt see browny wearing any of that generic topman shit. they are two completely different people arent they, and im sure steve jones went away from that interview thinking he didnt do anything wrong. some people never learn

  • hahaha well put mate!!

  • @SmithersJones87 haha, this. whenever anyone mentions topman I reply 'T4 shite'. Music these days is utterly fucked, dominated by the t4, skinny jeans wearing fuckhats who's entire humour is based on post ironic bullshit.

  • @SmithersJones87 haha about the Topman shirt, T4 are all bollocks tbh

  • @SmithersJones87

True, but Ian Brown is still another cunt, punching WAY above his weight. Can't even hold an instrument or sing in tune... But guess what, everyone... He's hailed as a genius! Typical English mentality. Jools Holland is equally a smarmy little one trick pony.

  • yeah true, there is definately some genuine sincerity from Ian that Jools draws out. Respect

  • It breaks my heart to hear Ian Brown say 'its very unlikely' but its reality. Perhaps its for the best; why ruin the memory of the Stone Roses which is a band of legend. Twenty years later their music still endures. God bless the Stone Roses.

  • "On that on that on that note" haha

  • I thought he was gonna be some cocky arrogant character but far from it, nice surprise to find he was a somewhat humble sound guy, underneath all the stage persona there is a decent fella there who I can have a drink.....and maybe share a spiff with - respect Ian !!

  • yeah Tex but I think here is more a mutual respect thing though, Jools Holland is not your avarage ` I don't know shit about music ´ interviewer ...the ones I've seen Ian take the piss out of a fair number of times

  • damn..Ian brown listened to motown, raggae and rap...thats a revelation

  • I remember watching this on Tv,... You can see the respect Brownie has for Jools,... just as Jools has respect for his guests. And if anyone has the chance of seeing Jools Holland and his band live at their local theatre you should go, it's a top evening and his guitarist is one of the best

  • Viva Jools Holland as well...

  • "I like rappers,me...smoked a spliff wiv Dre..." That'd be some session with Browny and Dre...should collaborate, modern American legend and a modern English legend...

  • He smoked a spliff with Dre? How fucking cool is that?

  • Dometick - I saw Ian Brown at Reading 2009 and he played Fools Gold, he also played I Wanna Be Adored at T In The Park last year so he does still play Roses songs.

  • jools holland is a good man. definitley been around the block . Love to Ian and the Stone Roses x

  • Ian Brown is a legend! F-off to anyone who thinks otherwise.

  • yeah mate nice one

  • jools holland picks the artists and Ian was on,so respect to jools and IAN BROWN IS THE MAN.....................

  • What is it with the lad brown. Angels, prayers, etc etc. Screwed up catholic kid or what !!!!

  • ian brown in harry potter lmao i have got to see this

  • ian brown = legend

  • i cant understand shit

  • shit he's aged. when the power went out he shouts "amatures...amatures".quite funny

  • if you watch Ians early interviews with the roses and squire, and you watch his newer ones he seems a totally different guy, simpler in some ways

  • Ian ain't a dick....just respect the man and he's respectful......simple.

  • Ian brown legend

  • im so bored of dope culture-

  • Jools Holland is a tosser..Ian Brown is God

  • Later is a good show but the more i see Jools Holland you realise what a tosser he is

  • Then why are u watching it Bert18?

  • fuck off then

  • fuckin legend...

    greeting from Poland ;)

  • i cant understand manchester accent

  • it's not hard dickead

  • I heard at the time that Ian has cancelled, but didn't see this. Soon as I heard, summised that crass presenters must be at fault. Happened a few years back - shite presenters who think it's clever to b e sarky, puerile, and "smart". Bunch of twits, with their conceitied smiles, especially in such esteemd co. like this. Thank God for Peel and Radcliffe, incisive gentlemen.

  • i think ian brown is one of the most real musicians around today. a deep man. holland i find irritating. i only wish there were other hosts for such shows as these...

  • What a fookin legend

  • Please reform.

  • did you describe Ian Brown as a 'Geek'...?

  • what part did he play in harry potter?? and which movie??

  • he played in 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban', and he played 'Man in the Leaky Cauldron reading book'

  • Good music, but an absolute cock.

  • fuck off

  • bobbybingham26 you are a knob.

  • How did you know :-)

  • Like you, dream on mate :-)

  • lol what a brilliant interview, smoked a spliff whith dre ! lol that would be a laugh wouldnt it

  • scarface 2 with marijuana, haha quality

  • 'i smoked a spliff wi dre' haha wot a geezer

  • He met B.I.G? That is one lucky guy.

  • hats off to jools, i am a big ian brown fan but jools did a top interview i think. Unlike so many interviews nowadays, jools actually LISTENS to what the interviewee is saying.

  • hip hop and rock are the same genre its bout not giving a fuck and enjoying yourself, ian brown,2pac,oasis,the chillis, the game,em,dre, morrisey, happy mondays all from the same cathegorie. Then you have the fags in rock like mark ronson and the fags in rap like lil wayne its all bout being iconic and a genius and saying shit thats worth caring about but making it sound cool and beatiful rap and rock are great and can cross over but only by the geniuses.

  • i like hip hop a lot. just not the shit thats been flung into the radiostations since 2006

  • fuck hip-hop. long live Stone Roses

  • oh my god he sounds so much like Liam Gallagher O.o

  • Liam Gallagher sounds like Ian Brown....

  • Ur a dick they are both from manchester..

  • what I meant was that alot of liam's stage movements and his attitude come from the influence of ian brown... chill out man

  • Liam Gallagher may sound like Ian Brown, but the fuckwit has about 1/100th of Brown's charisma, talent, intelligence and personality

  • Seems like a really nice guy

  • Come on Dr Dre's a fan I've read!!!!

  • suprised he likes hip hop+

  • Public Enemy was his favourite band of the 80's

  • hip hop at glastonbury im not havin it haha fuck u whitey jay-z rocked all u niggas

  • im sure the roses will get back together at some point theres so much shit around at the moment, thats why all the legends are doing reunion tours. pretty cool he met biggy smalls though

  • The roses will never get back together. Squire is a painter now and doesn't even play the guitar any more.

  • how do you know? are you his mate? or do you just believe everything you read.

im sre they will get back together when the others run out of money

  • Actually Squire himself said he wasn't playing anymore about a year ago. But I think it's all part of the process of creativeness. He's now painting, and may feel the need to play the guitar tomorrow. We can dream till then!

  • How do you know they have any money? Are you their mate? Or do you just believe everything you read?

  • the interview always seemed to keep coming back to the weed

  • Im sick of seeing that f*ckin video of that power cut and I bet Ian Brown is sick of it

Real Roses fans remember them for what they did to the music scene..... not some silly rant on tv.

  • haha im from longsight born and bread.

  • is it just me or do any of the fools that watch x factor actuially know what the word 'great' means?

  • johnnie160, as the great man sang himself "I know the world is upside down".....X factor......"fo*kin amateurs"....All hail the monkey man!!!

  • Well Jools is reputable and seems to be properly interested in the music. A good interviewer, seems to be respected by the musicians.

  • he hung out with jam master jay? cool

  • pleasure to see Ian as himself....yeah other interviews he's on the defensive, but when you got a twat throwin stupid questions at yer when he knows fuckall anyway..who wouldn't

  • "to see Ian as himself" - you know him well, then???!

I agree, esp. in the Roses, he used to get loads of stupid questions thrown at him. But he (and Squire) did get off on being rude and arrogant. He does come over a bit like a thick Manc quite a lot though!

  • what does he say at 3:19 rather haha ????

  • ian says hey, qui pasa - it's Spanish for hey what's happening, but not a litteral spanish t o english translation, but that is what he means. Hacienda Club chat circa 1987, it was great

  • what does he say at 4:39 ???

  • brownie is the MAN

  • Fuckin legend.

    smoked a splif wiv Dre..?

    JEALOUS lol

  • wEll, Jools is a musician too, so he has some common sense, and they can talk on the same level as each other.

  • hollad ya media bitch --doesnt know who hes supposedly interviewin obviously --mr.brown has more integrity than the price of your licence fee people -c him live

  • he lived in timperley with his parents then moved to the flats in longsight you thick twat. look at wikipedia or summat you dumb fuck before you put gay messages on you tube trying to question the lyrics in a song. MUPPET

  • Big up the Longsight crew.I was born and bred there. King monkey is from warrington but has fond memories of longsight.

  • god

  • Smoked a spliff with Dre,classic

  • he's a genius

  • That'll be SQUIRE then..... the man that put a band together from buskers..... think King Monkey is doing OK on his own... anyways the Roses could function without Reni anyway

  • you mean they couldn't?

  • ohh really mmm interestin

  • legend, pure and simple. Just wish he would swallow his pride and get back with Squires

  • "I like the rappers man..." yeah your wife likes em too you prat

  • He seems a really decent fella, easygoing and interesting too. I'd like to meet him

  • i met him backstage at V festival 1998 for some reason he and i found ourselves in alittle ante room we shared a spliff while everyone went off to watch oasis/robbie williams... nice bloke...

  • Oasis never played V98!!

I met him too that year, quality bloke!!

  • hmmm... then why the fuck were robbie and noel backstage then? i know i saw them there... iggy pop too.... maybe it was V97?

  • Iggy pop played and Robbie, but it was Charlatans and The Verve who headlined.

Noel was probably just chillin out watching the bands! This was one of my favourite festivals, from what i can remember, apart from gettin really freaked by PJ Harvery! (Who i actually like)

  • yeah after doing so many festival interviews its hard to remember so many details!! i was working for "festival tv" ... we were the company that does all the live video... aaah happy days!

  • knew he'd show that arcive footage pity they did'nt show it to when brown keeps shouting "amateurs" in the backround -mad bastard

  • he lives there now, his kids go alti grammar, posh school full of tossers

  • he syas que pasa...spanish for whats happnin

  • what does he say at 3.18 when the sound goes? something like gip-lass or 'eeh git lass'

  • He did go Alty Grammar!

  • altrincham

  • he need to stop smoking it makes him sound really dopey

  • Im glad he likes rap too. I like alot of Brit pop and Indie music but i also love early 90's gangster rap. Im a skiny white guy so im not your stereotypical g rap listener. It just goes to show anyone can listen to it. It's all good music.

  • he's a legend and all, but he's from fuckin altringham, where all the rich boys are from, not rough at all, unlike longsight, so he shouldnt claim he's from there, he's a cheshire boy.

  • He doesn't claim to be from Longsight if you listen. They regularly played and rehearsed in Longsight and when he was in the nick his fans daubed "free Ian Brown" all over Longsight. So that's his affiliation with the place. BTW he's from Warrington not Altringham! Long live the genius that is King Monkey!

  • nah mate, he's from altringham, he was born in warrington but he lived in altringham, altringham is full of rich boy wanna be mancs.

  • At least Reni and Mani are Mancs.

  • Altrincham is in Greater manchester NOT Cheshire.

  • Only recently it has changed to Gtr Manc.

  • actually 1974 mate

  • If he was talking about older stuff he would have mentioned Eric B and Rakim. He's proved he's just a bum licker with no idea.

  • Yeah you didnt really listemn to what Jules asked him did you. Anyways he mentioned rappers he liked maybe he doesnt like Rakim. Stop judging the man he's done some good songs. Icon

  • RAP is shit, bad taste Ian. he should at least of had mentioned Derek b

  • all hail to king munky

  • The rap bit is a disaster, but what a treat to have him perform Where Angels Play. Great clip, thanks.

  • Manc9387 paints a lovely picture of longsight doesn`t he.

  • The Stone Roses will do a gig-the complete Stone Roses,it will happpen.

  • Stuck Up Cunts, Longsights The Place To Be, Go Back To Bramhall You Posh Fucks!

  • RAP?!?! How can a musical-genius have such shite taste???

  • I think you'll find he's talking about older rap music. granted the modern day stuff is marketed shite made my white fellas in suites but the older stuff before big corps got their hands on it is genius...

  • that would be a class collaberation Doc Dre and the monkey man Ian Brown it can be done bring it on

  • King Monkey!

  • I fucking hate Longsight. No offence Ian. No one round there can fuckin drive. Twats.

  • Not as nasty as Wythenshaw - I needed anti-depressants after staying there! Seriously, what a shit-hole!

  • hey! Im from longsight! Oh, wait minute I actually cant drive.

  • ha ha brilliant! You can see that Brownie holds a lot of respect for Jools as he isn't as arrogant as in other interviews. They're both legends!

  • Well spotted. Jools is also a good interviewer in that he talks to people with a level of respect as well - no condescending behaviour etc.

  • many thanks for this from across the pond

now if only Ian would forgive John
