Please could someone help me? Would appreciate any advice given... I am a young guitarist who has played for seveal years but doesnt have a clue really about guitars, I just know how to play them. I have a squier affinity and a standard mexican strat. I prefer my squier because the neck is thinner and is much easier to play but the sound isnt as good, I don't really like the feel of the mexican at all. What i am looking for is a srat with a thin neck that also sounds great. Can anyone help?thank

@abcde6409 the wood they cut best goes into deluxes then american standards then mexican standards the squiers and the stock pickups and hardware are all better on the american
@abcde6409 Better quality materials, like solid wood, not filled and spliced together pieces, better quality pickups, better factory conditions, less moisture and such, better quality control too, less mistakes make it out the door.
why'd they put gloss on the front of the neck??? seriously I just got it and it's great but why the gloss on neck front?!!?!? and the neck joint is actually an ass. I don't know what to do with this guitar...
@MrTerrormonkey I have the hss (same single coils I believe Tex Mex) and honestly the single coils won't sound any different unless you drastically make the pickup height different. I mean they're the same pickup :/. Not a big deal though and hum from the neck pickup really isn't that bad, at least on my amp. Only is noticable if you turn up the treble too much on the guitar, if you want to remove the hum it's simple! Turn treble down on guitar and turn it up on the amp if you still want it
The American standard stratocaster is not even close to the total tone versatility of a 2007 single cool highway one stratocaster it's not even an Argument.
@GuitarFreak1901 Your a little off. These are made in america, better pickups, wood etc. They go from 900 to 1050 depending on paint job. Though the MSRP on fenders sight is about 1500 dollars :).
Please help me out here. I'm buying a Fender Strat American standard pretty soon, It's a great guitar but the thing is, my amplifier isn't that great. It's an Ibanez Tone X blaster TBX30R, will I still get a really nice sound from it? Some people say that the amp is 50% of the sound and I don't know if my amp's that great. I'd really appreciate any advice. Thanks :)
@ArchieIsted he is boring, he is in every guitarworld's video and he always starts video sayinh: "hi, this is Paul from guitarworld! I also want to annoy! 8)". thats boring.
@christofa96 any thin skin or vintage model because they use nitro finishes. Basically any guitar that uses nitrocellulose lacquer will show age over time.
Why does it seem like a lot of people go for telecasters because they're "unique"? Isn't music about sound rather than appearance? I tried a telecaster after playing a strat and for me it just didn't seem as versatile as a strat. I felt like there was so much more that I could do on a stratocaster tone wise. The tele had a great tone but it was all about the bridge pickup because the neck pickup on a strat to me sounds better than the neck pickup on a tele. That plus no whammy bar.
@1con0clast Most people go for teles because of that twangy tone they give, not because of who they look. In fact, nowadays they're not considered very unique at all. Although I must admit, the tele twang is defiantly not for everyone
@mrciaran96 Well I stated that some people choose telecasters in order to be "unique" because whenever someone asks if they should get a tele or a strat someone says, "oh everyone plays a stratocaster, get a tele instead" or they'll say that stratocasters are over used and suggest getting a telecaster.
@TheJH3000 That was the most dumb ass question. Use your imagination...any solid bodied guitar can do metal. Sick of seeing this asked on EVERY gear demo--some nimrod saying, "can it can play metal?"
Gibson have a different character than Fender, i cannot compare both brands, but coming from me that i am a metal player , i prefer Gibson, but actually i'm thinking seriously to buy a Telecaster
I thought 70s Fender didn't have a thick laquer on the neck? I have two Squier Vintage Modified basses and they have no/satin finish on the neck, unlike the 60s Classic Vibe, which does.

proud owner of an american standard HSS strat! the BEST guitar i have in my arsenal. over the fernandes revolver pro 81, over the peavey EVH wolfgang, over the washburn wp80 les paul, and even over my esp h207 7 string. the only thing id change about my strat is the ability to split the diamondback humbucker at the bridge
@MsChrissummerfield lol you can never have enough guitars tho. every guitar has its own personality. but ya i lose control when i go to guitar shops! lately especially since im workin on moving out of my parents house if i find a guitar i love i have to leave whatever guitar store im at because id end up blowin all my money on it
@MsChrissummerfield for example i stopped at a private owned guitar store one day and i saw a used gibson SG doubleneck and i picked it up and i was just uncontrollable. it was like a 78 had a few dings in the body but it played and sounded awesome and i HAD to leave or else i was gonna blow 5 grand
the HSS strats sound mean. a split coil bucker would be cool . a 1275 double-neck SG would have been a nice edition to your arsenal.i have my gib les paul std. and fender c,shop '60 strat. love your guitars you have good taste .:)
@MsChrissummerfield i love my HSS i mean i can get anything from the dirtiest most disgusting and meanest metal tones all the way to the cleanest of clean tones with it. and one thing i bitch about with tone is that my sound whether its dirty or clean has to be big, real, and ballsy but having great dynamics and articulation and being able to put out as many frequencies as possible and it just works the best for me
Generally what is the difference? Like the Tele, Strat, and Les Pauls are the "American" guitars. The tele obviously has more twang to it (unless it's the effect)? And the Strat is pretty good for rock
@robbie932 it wasnt shaped like a nocaster/telecaster it was the shape of a stratocaster with the headstock of a telecaster and the pickgaurd went up both horns/cutout parts and it was thinline/ semi hollow
i have an olympic white on maple fretboard american standard strat and it definitely is one of my most treasured things that i own or ever will own... EVER!!!!!
i need some help here someone... i was at my local music store yesterday and i found a fender, it had the scratch board of a base, the headstock of a telecaster, it was semi hollow, and it was shaped like a stratocaster, and it had no name next to fender logo on the head and it didnt say where it was made on the back of the head, could someone please tell me what is is/called?

the HSS strats sound mean. a split coil bucker would be cool . a 1275 double-neck SG would have been a nice edition to your arsenal.i have my gib les paul std. and fender c,shop '60 strat. love your guitars you have good taste .:)

@trashthethrasher Strats are pretty good for everything, that's why they're so popular.

@robbie932 it wasnt shaped like a nocaster/telecaster it was the shape of a stratocaster with the headstock of a telecaster and the pickgaurd went up both horns/cutout parts and it was thinline/ semi hollow

i need some help here someone... i was at my local music store yesterday and i found a fender, it had the scratch board of a base, the headstock of a telecaster, it was semi hollow, and it was shaped like a stratocaster, and it had no name next to fender logo on the head and it didnt say where it was made on the back of the head, could someone please tell me what is is/called?
(this might sound ridiculous but im serious)

@ILLbiteURfaceCNT I don't have too much knowledge of guitars but that may be a "Nocaster" by fender. I'm not too sure though.
