  • Is this model ok for doing industrial?

  • @avalontvgirl I used it for industrial, but that was a while ago. The industrial I've heard lately seems to lean more heavily on layers of VA synths and guitars.

I was a Skinny Puppy fan, the ES1 was great for odd ball samples and distorted/bit-crunched sounds typical of the early era of SP.

I mostly used it as a percussion device (I used a lot of 606 & SK-1 samples in addition to noises from movies).

  • nice!!

  • i actually had the pleasure of trying one and i did notice that the Reverb and those other effects do control all the pads. the only thing u can control on each pad is the level, pitch and filter...the others effects control all the pads. The only thing you can do for each pad is turn the effect off or on but i cant have reverb on 1 pad and phaser on another pad.....if there's something im missing here, please post.

  • @rhampton1914 If you notice in the video I have different decimation ratios on each sample. On other kits I have l had some individual pads with distortion and other pads with a slap back echo.

    Cheers.

  • can u used those effects like reverb and all those others to effect each pad or doies those effects control everything. im thinking of getting one.

  • @rhampton1914 YES, the FX are set for each pad. The FX are not global.

  • makes me wanna learn how to use mine =]

  • very cool!

  • you know they take 128mb ;)

  • Lets go to somit else!

  • what are some good sounds to record to get the scratch effect?

  • "so fresh" is the classic, but anything with gritty mid range frequencies will do.

I sampled sounds from Wizard of Oz and Time Bandits (wicked witch laugh and minotaur screech).

  • how do you sample and record ?

  • there is a 1/4" TRS input on the back and menu for sampling.

  • @bbow73 really so would you reccomend this over an MPC ?

  • The MPC is a very professional machine, but the ES1 is instantly gratifying... more fun. An ESX-1 is probably a better contender for an MPC.

  • COOL!!

  • yea, the ES-1 is actually better than the ESX-1 for motion sequences because the knobs move faster, they're too stiff on the ESX-1.

  • thats really good to know actually, I was debating which to get, thanks a ton.

  • Man i want an ES-1 so badly. Thinking of pairing it up with my microKORG

  • @Phobia017 i was thinking the same thinking,
