Count with me boys and girls: F1 is the half ton. F2 is the 3/4 ton...
and so on. An F8 is a large Ford truck, either a large straight truck or the tractor for a semi-trailer. Believe it or not, goods travelled by truck in 1952, and Ford was the overwhelming best seller then as now. Great big F'er.
