i thought 'The Big 5' were Cindy, Naomi, Linda, Christy, and Tatjana Patitz. Claudia came after and was still considered one of the 5 (or the big 6 now). Kate Moss had similar or close to their success but was not considered as one of them(well in my opinion it depends on who you ask eh?). I didnt know Tatjana was one of them had to google to find out. But i would say Cindy, Naomi, Christy, Claudia and Kate are more popular to people who dont know fashion all that much.....lay people like me :)

Great video!! Great time for fashion and certainly the best time for models. Personally Linda is my favourite and IMO the most versatile of the 5. She looked stunning totally made up or without a stitch of make up. Claudia was my least favourite, but you can't deny her appeal.

Oh and how nice that the ladies, while fit and trim, still look like women, not sticks.

I think these were definitely the big 5 of the late 80's and early 90's, no dispute. I think Claudia was able to make her way into the "supermodel" category on the strength of her Bardot-like looks on Guess? ads but she was definitely the least natural and least "high fashion" of the 5.

Just seeing all those ads, pictorials, and catwalk clips took me back, I still find a lot of those models from that time and even through the early 80's fascinating, and love to see what they are up to now a days. She moved on to more men's mag/commercial work, Sport's Illustrated, Victoria's Secret, etc... I'm sure she had great commercial success, and made a great deal of money. But, she didn't have nearly the kind of importance in the high-end fashion market that these girls did.

I thoroughly agree with isingjazz83...Christy is a truly spiritual and self-aware person. She chose to give up the fame and fortune of modeling to further her education. She is a beautiful example of how to balance a career and being a mother/wife. She now only models when projects truly appeal to her, or if they benefit a cause she stands behind. This supremodel also holds a degree in Comparitive Religion from NYU, and is completing her Masteris Degree so that she can further help her causes.
