wow, at first this compeltely tells what the OA isnt. im in Talligewi Lodge 62 from Kentucky. I just i did my brotherhood this past weekend. I got several tick bites. we host Conclave next year. wish us luck.
my ordeal was cool i didnt care what the cost was i wanted in cause my spl at the time was in OA i look up to him still even for geting my brotherhood and camp geronimo i love that place
wow! you guys are pathetic. I had fun at my ordeal. we didn't get ANY food all day or the night before and we were fine. a lot of hard work but no real problem!and you who say that the OA is stupid or a cult have no idea what you are talking about.
OOOOHHHHHH........ Got on wikpedia today! Sorry fellas! WARNING ALL LDS FAITHS! Many of the ceremonies in the OA come from freemasons and masonic traditions! Secret Handshakes-signs and passwords are all involved(Sound familiar)! Must maintian complete silence, sleep alone, recieve little to no food, and complete camp projects! Then you get inducted into the OA! There are area chiefs, regional cheifs and national chiefs! You have a song Firm Bound in brotherhood! Stop OA!
The lake, cabin, torches, food, and spiritual tought! I am sorry, but I feel we were at a spiritual platue, that many OAs failed to reach! To learn it all from a man, Cheif Lemhi! A true Native American of the west! I went back to my camp with total fullfilment, caring nothing for some OA that was more like a popularity contest, picked by other scouts and in my case, a scout masters son who was always picked for everything, and because my troop had like 30 boys and only two could get picked1 HUMM
I was part of the, "Keeper of The Cabin". In snake river moutains in Idaho! Only those who proved there understanding of the spiritual part of scouting first, without having to go through some ordeal to learn it!(OA) One must prove himself by his deeds and service first! Then he gets the honor to sleep in the cabin with others of said worth! The cabin where cheif lemhi a real Native Amercian lived! We made pouches that we put stuff from around the lake in that represented ourselves!
The order of the arrow is not a cult. We are not a secret organization and by lordy lordy the Elangomat's who don't care if you talk aren't doing their job.

The Order of the Arrow is a cult. And nobody actually spends the whole time in silence; the azamas usually don't care if you talk.
