Nitro is very unpredictable. remember seeing this happen to the late Gordon Mineo at Columbus Ohio back in like 93 or so when his car ran into Eddie Hills dragster. Scary shit definitely not Mel's fault at all.

@VGMurders I was at that race and remember that. It hit Eddie Hill's yellow van tow vehicle and banged them up pretty good too.

That was scary. It's unfortunate that it happened, but at least nobody was hurt, and at least it didn't happen in the more crowded area of the pits (near the Fuel cars and Pro Stock and Pro Stock Bike). Equipment can be repaired; it's harder to repair people.
