So ist basicly this : the fuel is sprayed into the plunger, the plunger presses it to the limit, that makes an exlosion that gives power? If I made some grammatical errors then I am sorry :D

there is a spark plug right between the two things that open and close. A mixture of fuel and air is injected. When the "plunger" comes towards the top, that mixture of gas and air gets really close to the spark plug. The spark plug then ignites the mixture which makes the "explosion" which pushes the "plunger" downwards to spin the crankshaft. The second thing that opens allows the fumes from the "explosions" to escape. Thats the smoke that comes out the back of your car.

is it just me, or does it seem like the 2nd stroke seems like a wasted stroke? there's got to be another way to get rid of the exhaust and make use that of that extra stroke.
