This is the old Daito Ryu method..good stuff, but modern Aikido is a differnt esthetic .... perhaps attaching the word Aikido to it is to attract unknowing students....sad really

Sorry I've been practicing aikido for 3 and a half years and that is not aikido, I think is more like a jiu-jitsu or Krav magna style, if you like to see the real aikido go on search and type AIKIDO MONTEREY, see it, thats the real aikido of O'sensei with a real sensei. ;)

ive tried it against brazilan ju-jitsu, ive been doing aikido for years and it works pretty well if you know how to move out of there way i actually shocked the instructor with an arm bar standing up.

I would say it's a good art marsial. although that is more jujitsu that aikido. the difference in jujitsu and aikido is that aikido is learned to use the same techniques tradisionales just that without the use of extreme force. real aikido is jujitsu applied with a little fluid. and focused on the actual combat. only that I think great force is not necessary. I want more movement of the hip to achieve the techniques. we must continue to train

I like krav maga. Instead of having me go on about how it's based on your movements, you should look it up. you can't always get out of a situation without applying some force. Check it out, or look up krav maga wschod. It is one of the best demos.

Depends on where you train. At some studios it is taught like a martial art, but it's really self-defense. It translates from Hebrew to English as "Close Combat" It is rough as hell, and that's what makes it realistic.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think you will find that there was Jujutsu with Hakamas before there was Aikido.
