Come on EU stop being a pussy and stand up against Russia and confront them on the worsening human rights. Its getting worse and worse in Russia. Many Russians are applying for asylum seeker status the number gets higher every year.
Russia's human rights has sharply deteriorated last year and is further deteriorating this year. This is unacceptable that Russia can get away with such grave human rights crimes committed against the oppressed and pro Democracy activists.
Russia: Free the dissidents and let them rise against the dictatorship and authoritarianism of Russia. Russia is certain to collapse under the KGB mafia dictator Putin and his ugly henchmen. Russia is suffering under the poor misguided leadership of the United Russia Party. Russia has a sad sorry future ahead of it. Putin intends to become President in 2012 for more then 12 more years. Utterly disgraceful the EU should stand up against Russia and this madness
What a useless dying soviet dump Russia has turned out to be. The only probably good thing about the Soviets is the pussies and the hard booze that's fucking class
@68kaspar not government... idiot people. democracy is only as good as the people who make up that democracy. if you have a bunch of dumbasses in a democratic system, the system will be no good.
the people are crying out for a free society, yet the government still suppresses people and wonders why its so shit as a nation,
thats why russians are always hard bearing people, its the way that putin fashist as treated them, and they say russia is better than Nazi germany, nazi germany never treated its non-religious people this bad, motherland, your fuckin nation will be nuked in the future

i am young and i am not happy with the situation in our country, but i really think that people like Putin or Medvedev are the best possible variant for Russia.
We do need a dictator, because people are too relaxed in general.
And those who don't agree with this are just STUPID or blind.

Lol@your nickname :D Is it kind of at-home demonstration? Sitting behind the monitor and verbally fighting Putin? Go fuck yourself, if you've lived in Moscow and understood nothing about today's Russia you must be especially stupid and fat :D WW3, damn they must've been putting something very radioactive in those burgers!
BTW, do you have any evidence concerning people dead or in prison for hating Putin, not mentioning demonstrations on TV? Or is it the idea your left butt came up with?
In other words, the system has created a government that is not positive about civil liberties. Russians live under their rules and have to give up their liberties so as much as they have to detain themselves from doing whatever they want in order to express themselves. Russians have to deal with the government by replacing it with a more tolerant one by the ways allowed by the government, that is peaceful voting. Influence the public opinion, don't take on the government.
Extremism can exist in a nation state when everything is peaceful, there are no external enemies and the economy is fine. In Finland extremists are allowed to ramble about their stuff on the street as long as they deal with the police. In Russia, the situation is assumingly unstable, so demonstration is an unstable element introduced in a insecure situation. That's why no demonstration is allowed. But thinking wisely, the government hasn't disallowed verbal protest.
Demonstration activists think that as it is a custom, if the government is not giving democratic means of debate and if it is doing very wrong politics, going to the street is the only remaining way to challenge the government. It is meant to replace dialogue when dialogue doesn't work and the people need to overthrow the government. But icix1 et al think they can go to the street as a solution to anything. They don't want dialogue. In Russia, there hasn't been dialogue for a long time but
these guys seek to treat the government as to overthrow it, not to work on the problem of lack of dialogue. The government denies street protests as a part of its negative dialogue policy, but these people don't ask for dialogue anyway. They just want to pick a fight against the government for what so ever reason. They are actually not for common dialogue, but they are pro revolution. Extremists that is.
In Russia, they denies anti-government demonstrations, because it looks bad and causes unrest. This government is very unforgiving and unstreching, but they are just doing to street protestors what everybody are thinking in other western countries. Street protest is not wise, and all people doing that are just following a bad tradition. Street protest does not challenge the government, it does not create dialogue, it just bothers people, more or less, more in Russia's case
I'm just saying fighting the police in the street is stupid compared to the usual although limited ways of self-expression. Any self-expression to other people, even if its just internet chat is better than becoming a marginal group.
Is was the March of the disagreed. Some key people couldn't even come to the square and take part, because they had been trapped in their homes by FCB (KGB) officers.
Right now the authorites are introducihg a law according to which actions of that kind will be equated with high treason (12 years in jail at min).
A few days earlier they introduced a law that gives three professional judges (instead of 12 juries) the right to rule on cases including crimes against the state.

Demonstrations are a bad way to protest for both parties. The opposition, in any country, fail to speak calmly and spread their ideas in literature and media. The government is threatened, and it is routine to end all unlawful gatherings in all countries, because the state has to have the monopoly of law making. These people are just trouble makers. In fact, I believe all of these mid twenties kids, have decided not to pursue peaceful critisism and go rave on the street.
Actions speak much louder than words. If we sat around and talked about our problems nothing would ever change. Sometimes the best way to get change is to go out there and scream about it.
Things sound different when you scream them at people. Even you think about them differently when you shout them on the street. That way is violent and will be treated as such.
No, there is no excuse to break up a demonstration just because you don't like the way they're yelling loudly. Standing around yelling at people is just making your opinions known, but that is in no way an excuse for physical violence. By having public demonstrations you AVOID violence because people feel they have an outlet for their problems. If there is built up tension you'll have a riot on your hands, something that looks tame compared to people standing around screaming. It's common sense.
No, you're just a kid who has heard that's what citizens are supposed to do when they object what the government is doing. You are too irresponsible and childish to consider yourself what you need to do to make yourself heard. You can't even separate affective aggression and rational argument. Grow up.
Also, If you think that rationale discourse will get you any changes in your government, you're not just naive, you're ignorant. The idea that things will just change because you asked your local representative or mailed your congressman is just completely folly.
Do you honestly think Putin is going to uncensor the press because
some guy had a nice rational talk with him? Real action produces real change, and when push comes to shove, what works, works.
It's ridiculous to think that a repressive regime is going to change their ways because a group of people asked nicely. Squeaky wheel gets the grease, and those who go out and make the most noise get the most change because that's what governments listen to. Who are they going to listen to more: the angry protesters with rocks or the soft spoken professor with logic?
affective means emotional. I know you can't have attention in totalitarian democracy. Look it up. Still, I will not go to the street because it denounces my individuality and consciousness. Obviously I don't forbid you to do it, I'm just trying make you see how stupid it is.
I would say that taking your ideas to the street, so to speak, would be the best way to express your individuality. But that is my opinion, and if protesting violates your individuality, then so be it.
But I do believe attention can happen in a totalitarian democracy, but not by rational argument. I believe that certain types of governments cannot be reasoned with because logic would be their undoing. If they won't engage in rational dialogue, what other option is there but protest?
Totalitarian democracy means the same as liberal or constitutional democracy, which allows participation only in name of representation and the people are out of it. For the reasons I spoke street protests are the worst way to convey real opinions. And that is not the only way to protest. If all the people in the street could make a small comment in public about their interests, the sentiment would turn against the elite. But you guys don't think, you just feel angry. That's not good politics.
But doesn't anger speak louder than restraint? Does hate not convey more than being passive? I'm talking about whats realistic here, not what is right or the best solution. It's nice to think that a group of people can calmly state their ideas and motives at large rally and change the world, but that's just not going to happen. Also, keep in mind people are not as educated as you. Calmly stating your ideas is NOT going to get the populace on your side, no matter how logical or well thought out
They ought to follow me, speaking calmly, rather than you, raving mad on the streets, resorting to violence, smash things and be otherwise a nasty nuisance for the society. We don't want people to opt for your kind of activism. Mostly people around 20 years favor demonstrating. It is a lifestyle thing. You want to have an impact, but have not yet formed an idea of different ways of doing it. They include abstinence from emotion in favor of reason. Logic and reason is the only method of debate
Do you have any idea how people work? You're pretty out of touch. First, I'm not raving mad nor do I love destruction, but I am simply arguing that logical debate is nice to think about, but in the real world it gets you nowhere fast. There's a reason politicians don't make speeches like you suggest we should, and that's because you can't motivate a group if you talk like a history professor. You're overestimating your abilities and the willpower/intelligence of the common person.
This is exactly my point: people won't follow you BECAUSE you debate logically and reasonably. You can't get people fired up about an issue if you drone on and on. Abstinence of emotion is the exact problem you have: people are emotional beings. You would be a terrible leader, because you have no idea how the common populace thinks. You have to express emotion; you have to express these feelings in order to get your point across. Without these critical emotions, your logic is worthless.
People will just ignore your rational arguments until you start getting hot and bothered about these said issues, and then, and only then, will people follow you. Not everyone is as educated as you, so it's ridiculous to think that a population is going to think hard about what you say. Chances are they'll ignore you or fail to understand what you're saying. I hate to be a downer, but the world does not work like a university. For most of the population, rational debates aren't an option.
I'm not going to argue philosophically anymore here. I'm just letting you know that there is an opinion against demonstrations, which is not against free expression. You're in a collision course with the society.
No, I think you're on a collision course. Talking about being a revolutionary? You act like they won't repress your free speech. Just because you do it in a non-demonstrative manner doesn't mean they won't beat you just the same. They don't play by the rules, even if you do.
The lesson you fools need to learn is that the establishment doesn't coerce on smart and peaceful protest. You can challenge any dictator, except if you're the wrong color, as long as you don't threaten them with coercive methods, which they see as a criminal and violent conduct that threatens their cause. Demonstration is a bad habit of acting like animals where you should be articulative. And most people agree any aggression in demonstration is ridiculous. We laugh at you on tv.
And thank god for it! Democracy is just a meaningless word, it doesn't exist. Don't believe all you told on TV, think for yourself, maybe there is a hope for you yet.

Influence the public opinion, don't take on the government.
teemuruskeepaa 3 years ago
Extremism can exist in a nation state when everything is peaceful, there are no external enemies and the economy is fine. In Finland extremists are allowed to ramble about their stuff on the street as long as they deal with the police. In Russia, the situation is assumingly unstable, so demonstration is an unstable element introduced in a insecure situation. That's why no demonstration is allowed. But thinking wisely, the government hasn't disallowed verbal protest.
teemuruskeepaa 3 years ago
Demonstration activists think that as it is a custom, if the government is not giving democratic means of debate and if it is doing very wrong politics, going to the street is the only remaining way to challenge the government. It is meant to replace dialogue when dialogue doesn't work and the people need to overthrow the government. But icix1 et al think they can go to the street as a solution to anything. They don't want dialogue. In Russia, there hasn't been dialogue for a long time but
teemuruskeepaa 3 years ago
these guys seek to treat the government as to overthrow it, not to work on the problem of lack of dialogue. The government denies street protests as a part of its negative dialogue policy, but these people don't ask for dialogue anyway. They just want to pick a fight against the government for what so ever reason. They are actually not for common dialogue, but they are pro revolution. Extremists that is.
teemuruskeepaa 3 years ago
In Russia, they denies anti-government demonstrations, because it looks bad and causes unrest. This government is very unforgiving and unstreching, but they are just doing to street protestors what everybody are thinking in other western countries. Street protest is not wise, and all people doing that are just following a bad tradition. Street protest does not challenge the government, it does not create dialogue, it just bothers people, more or less, more in Russia's case
teemuruskeepaa 3 years ago

In fact, I believe all of these mid twenties kids, have decided not to pursue peaceful critisism and go rave on the street.

oh wai- Media in Russia is state controlled, thus defeating both arguments.
It's the only way you can grab the public's eye there.
Vitaminous 3 years ago
Demonstrations are fanatic and dangerous. You should learn that the only way to solve problems is to sit down and talk calmly about them.
teemuruskeepaa 3 years ago
Actions speak much louder than words. If we sat around and talked about our problems nothing would ever change. Sometimes the best way to get change is to go out there and scream about it.
Icix1 3 years ago
Things sound different when you scream them at people. Even you think about them differently when you shout them on the street. That way is violent and will be treated as such.
teemuruskeepaa 3 years ago
No, there is no excuse to break up a demonstration just because you don't like the way they're yelling loudly. Standing around yelling at people is just making your opinions known, but that is in no way an excuse for physical violence. By having public demonstrations you AVOID violence because people feel they have an outlet for their problems. If there is built up tension you'll have a riot on your hands, something that looks tame compared to people standing around screaming. It's common sense.
Icix1 3 years ago
No, you're just a kid who has heard that's what citizens are supposed to do when they object what the government is doing. You are too irresponsible and childish to consider yourself what you need to do to make yourself heard. You can't even separate affective aggression and rational argument. Grow up.
teemuruskeepaa 3 years ago
Its "effective" not "affective"
Also, If you think that rationale discourse will get you any changes in your government, you're not just naive, you're ignorant. The idea that things will just change because you asked your local representative or mailed your congressman is just completely folly.
Do you honestly think Putin is going to uncensor the press because
Icix1 3 years ago
some guy had a nice rational talk with him? Real action produces real change, and when push comes to shove, what works, works.
It's ridiculous to think that a repressive regime is going to change their ways because a group of people asked nicely. Squeaky wheel gets the grease, and those who go out and make the most noise get the most change because that's what governments listen to. Who are they going to listen to more: the angry protesters with rocks or the soft spoken professor with logic?
Icix1 3 years ago
affective means emotional. I know you can't have attention in totalitarian democracy. Look it up. Still, I will not go to the street because it denounces my individuality and consciousness. Obviously I don't forbid you to do it, I'm just trying make you see how stupid it is.
teemuruskeepaa 3 years ago
I would say that taking your ideas to the street, so to speak, would be the best way to express your individuality. But that is my opinion, and if protesting violates your individuality, then so be it.
But I do believe attention can happen in a totalitarian democracy, but not by rational argument. I believe that certain types of governments cannot be reasoned with because logic would be their undoing. If they won't engage in rational dialogue, what other option is there but protest?
Icix1 3 years ago
Totalitarian democracy means the same as liberal or constitutional democracy, which allows participation only in name of representation and the people are out of it. For the reasons I spoke street protests are the worst way to convey real opinions. And that is not the only way to protest. If all the people in the street could make a small comment in public about their interests, the sentiment would turn against the elite. But you guys don't think, you just feel angry. That's not good politics.
teemuruskeepaa 3 years ago
But doesn't anger speak louder than restraint? Does hate not convey more than being passive? I'm talking about whats realistic here, not what is right or the best solution. It's nice to think that a group of people can calmly state their ideas and motives at large rally and change the world, but that's just not going to happen. Also, keep in mind people are not as educated as you. Calmly stating your ideas is NOT going to get the populace on your side, no matter how logical or well thought out
Icix1 3 years ago
They ought to follow me, speaking calmly, rather than you, raving mad on the streets, resorting to violence, smash things and be otherwise a nasty nuisance for the society. We don't want people to opt for your kind of activism. Mostly people around 20 years favor demonstrating. It is a lifestyle thing. You want to have an impact, but have not yet formed an idea of different ways of doing it. They include abstinence from emotion in favor of reason. Logic and reason is the only method of debate
teemuruskeepaa 3 years ago
Do you have any idea how people work? You're pretty out of touch. First, I'm not raving mad nor do I love destruction, but I am simply arguing that logical debate is nice to think about, but in the real world it gets you nowhere fast. There's a reason politicians don't make speeches like you suggest we should, and that's because you can't motivate a group if you talk like a history professor. You're overestimating your abilities and the willpower/intelligence of the common person.
Icix1 3 years ago
This is exactly my point: people won't follow you BECAUSE you debate logically and reasonably. You can't get people fired up about an issue if you drone on and on. Abstinence of emotion is the exact problem you have: people are emotional beings. You would be a terrible leader, because you have no idea how the common populace thinks. You have to express emotion; you have to express these feelings in order to get your point across. Without these critical emotions, your logic is worthless.
Icix1 3 years ago
People will just ignore your rational arguments until you start getting hot and bothered about these said issues, and then, and only then, will people follow you. Not everyone is as educated as you, so it's ridiculous to think that a population is going to think hard about what you say. Chances are they'll ignore you or fail to understand what you're saying. I hate to be a downer, but the world does not work like a university. For most of the population, rational debates aren't an option.
Icix1 3 years ago
I'm not going to argue philosophically anymore here. I'm just letting you know that there is an opinion against demonstrations, which is not against free expression. You're in a collision course with the society.
teemuruskeepaa 3 years ago
No, I think you're on a collision course. Talking about being a revolutionary? You act like they won't repress your free speech. Just because you do it in a non-demonstrative manner doesn't mean they won't beat you just the same. They don't play by the rules, even if you do.
Icix1 3 years ago
The lesson you fools need to learn is that the establishment doesn't coerce on smart and peaceful protest. You can challenge any dictator, except if you're the wrong color, as long as you don't threaten them with coercive methods, which they see as a criminal and violent conduct that threatens their cause. Demonstration is a bad habit of acting like animals where you should be articulative. And most people agree any aggression in demonstration is ridiculous. We laugh at you on tv.
teemuruskeepaa 3 years ago
Agreed/ There is no democraty in Russia.
