I was on the USS Proteus docked at Polaris Point on Guam in 1975 when a Cyclone hit. We were rockin and rollin but a passenger attempted to come into our post and was broken to pieces at the enterance. It is a submarine base and the chanel is not only crooked but it has obstructions to keep enemys out. What passenger were on it had been taken off. We had to send a crain barge out to blow it up and to remove what ever was in the channel. You can still see the bow sticking out of the water!

Well, if I were a passenger in that ship in that storm, I wouldn't be on deck. Most people are @ least smart enough to go inside in a situation like this. I'm sure that's where they are.

Well, I've seen footage from security cameras on board & they are all inside, in the mess hall, sliding back & forth along the hardwood floor as the boat banks left & right. But capsized or not, you're still safer inside then out. If it were to capsize, then cross that bridge when it comes. But in hindsight, it didn't capsize, so they were right to stay inside. The waves & wind are very powerful in a storm like that. Outside on deck is just asking to get swept away.
