take the fuel plate out and a good set of injectors
marine injectors give you a LOT of smokey, but are very inefficient, they run too high of EGT and really smoke too much. a good set of DDPs or SDXs will still smoke, but be more efficient.
but if you do plate work and injectors, you will mostly likely have to eventually upgrade your turbo also, stocker prob wouldnt last too long in that scenario

had a 99 superduty, and a 05 dodge 2500 with cummins....both trucks were great but the dodge had more usable power and torque, backed with a 6sp manual it was awesome but i didnt like the front end...steering was easier but i prefer fords firmness

"Torque" this and "Power" that- the truth is they usually make less power than the base model gas engine. Audi is playing with diesel technology with their race cars only because their gas race cars couldn't be stopped and they scared off the competition with them. When the competition comes back I am sure you will see their R8 back on the track.
Germany is a big tree hugging place and they're exploring more bio friendly means of powering cars. They've been talking about regulating the speed on the Autobahn due to emissions (cars revving higher produce more emissions).
They already do because of the high volume of traffic near urban areas where there are posted speed limits, only between cities are there no speed limits. By the way the US is by far a bigger tree hugger than Germany!!!

I managed to score a 98' 12valve myself. Drooled over them for long enough and found one in Oregon. I flew out and drove it over 700 miles home! That's how much I wanted one. I've just put a DDP Fuel Plate, AFE intake and 4" to 5" tip MBRP exhaust. I can't wait to get it running on veggie oil and upgrade the tranny. I could easily blow $50K in all the upgrades I wanna do to it!! :) God knows how I'm gonna convince my wife that it's for our future! Haha.
if you got a 12 valver, your good to go for veggie oil. that old mechanical masterpiece will burn combusted spit if it comes to that! id highly recommend a fass pump - good filtration

With every possible upgrade, a namebrand 47re (ATS, BD, NADP etc.) adds up to MAYBE $8000. There are benefits to both. I drive mine like a manual by using the "O/D OFF" (3rd) + 2nd and L. It's fine. In 3rd the T/C locks @ 30MPH so it PULLS!
$60000 tranny?! I hope that's a type-o. I spent about $3500 to have a friend build my 47re. That thing's a BEAST! I have the Dunrite Transbuddy valve body so I can get lockup in all forward gears with a manual lockup switch. The 5 speeds are incredibly strong but only work for pulling. If you ever wanted to put that truck on a drag strip I would eat you alive no matter how much power you were making. I get to just hold my foot down and flip a little switch.

Its interesting that Audi is competing against only 2 other manufacturers this yr Aston Martin and Peugeot both of which produce some of the worlds fastest sports cars right??? Diesels suck balls. The old codgers and limber-dicked suburban cowboy wanna be's that buy them like the way they rattle and stink like a Semi. They probably like to sniff their own farts too. "Torque" this and "Power" that- the truth is they usually make less power than the base model gas engine. By the time you hot-rod them to make decent power they get shitty mileage and are less reliable than the gas motors.
Diesel engines are used because they are more efficient, not more powerful.

I managed to score a 98' 12valve myself. Drooled over them for long enough and found one in Oregon. I flew out and drove it over 700 miles home! That's how much I wanted one. I've just put a DDP Fuel Plate, AFE intake and 4" to 5" tip MBRP exhaust. I can't wait to get it running on veggie oil and upgrade the tranny. I could easily blow $50K in all the upgrades I wanna do to it!! :) God knows how I'm gonna convince my wife that it's for our future! Haha.

Anyway, I was in traffic yesterday & thought: "maybe I'll hold off on that 6-speed conversion I've been dreaming about." And whaddaya mean $60,000 tranny? With every possible upgrade, a namebrand 47re (ATS, BD, NADP etc.) adds up to MAYBE $8000. There are benefits to both. I drive mine like a manual by using the "O/D OFF" (3rd) + 2nd and L. It's fine. In 3rd the T/C locks @ 30MPH so it PULLS!

$60000 tranny?! I hope that's a type-o. I spent about $3500 to have a friend build my 47re. That thing's a BEAST! I have the Dunrite Transbuddy valve body so I can get lockup in all forward gears with a manual lockup switch. The 5 speeds are incredibly strong but only work for pulling. If you ever wanted to put that truck on a drag strip I would eat you alive no matter how much power you were making. I get to just hold my foot down and flip a little switch.
