Not trying to be a jerk here, I know not everyone speaks English as a first language. In English we use 'are' for plural expressions. "There is $1" is correct as it is singular, and "There are $10,000" is correct because it is plural. :)
I love my mbed. I just might have to enter this and I never do this sort of thing.
