As a steel welder this is why they recommend a lower heat so you don`t over burn the material this way will break again right beside the seam weld SORRY but it will
Seems to work. Personally I have used mixture of acetone, super glue, abs plastic with correct color(melted into acetone) . probably isnt so good like plastic welder. But still no problems.
Hi matey, Good vid ! Couple of Qs, Is bondo a plastic filler or a nick name for Bodyfiller ?? soz im English so not heard of Bondo lol , Also What grade of paper do you use when Rubbing dow ?
If im correct, bondo is a bodyfiller and shouldn't really be used on plastic, however I do use it. I often use 300 grit then gradually work up to 800.
He is right.. typicaly Bondo is a bodyfiller used for filling metal. There are similar fillers though which are polyester based. Just like bondo but it sticks to plastic quite well. Hope this helps.
so other than the light or lack of light that was very informative. Question, does the welder get the plastic hot also so the rod and plastic fuse together, or is it just kinda a filler process. I want one. Thanks for the video.
will this work for a atv fender?

Also for anyone interested this can be done with a soldering iron with a flat or 'spoon' type bit on the end.

Great vid, just some advice you need more light when filming than you do just for your eyes.

@HeyBeyBay bondo is just a brand of filler, much like cresent wrench, or timkin bearings, not all are by that brand but that brannd is best known

It actually melts the rod and plastic together forming a bond, but it has to be hot enough or it will just flake off. hope this helps
