Bokosuka is incredibly outdated, but that doesn't make it a bad game. Back in 1983, it was actually a hit in its time, but has just aged really badly.
Not many people know this, but Bokosuka was in fact the game that laid the foundations for the strategy RPG genre. Games like the Fire Emblem and Shining series, and all the "Tactics" games, are descended from Bokosuka.
In fact, Bokosuka Wars is quite easily one of the better games from 1983. After all, that was the year that E.T. was made, and tons of other crappy games were coming out and caused the video game market crash.
Back in those days, Bokosuka would have been like the Demon's Souls of its day: challenging and rewarding. Today, that means it's unplayable, and we'll probably be saying the same thing about Demon's Souls 25 years from now.
I'm surprised the AVGN nor the Irate Gamer have reviewed this yet, as it was pretty infamous among gamers back in the early 2000's and is absolutely perfect for their reviewing style.
this is by far the best and most complex strategy game ever! its just a shame that 90 % of the people misunterstand the game totally. the basic strategic idea of the game is absolutely brillant, and the guy in the video obviously has no idea what he is talking about..
basically it is a turn based game in which you have to position your units wisely. the possibilites you have are just infinite, like in chess.
in difficult situations like in the castle, ive spent HOURS just to think about 1 turn..
well... a couple ways to possibly win is... get your king to 320 power, than dodge like mad alone, or get knights like mad, with pesants to escort your king, but, still this game is THE WORST GAME EVER for NES

I didn't really find a point in this thing at all. And the music wanted me to smash the game after a few minutes.

There was a hack of this in a mario multipack called "luigi wars" and it has the same stupid "wow! you lose" screen! I hate it so much!
