@gherbie111 I would guess it might depend on the game, but it streams DVD's sufficient for playback so I would suspect it would be fine for most games.
@mikela486 Maybe I don't understand your question; with this USB DVD drive, a netbook with no CD/DVD drive can play, record, even boot from CD's and DVD's
@mikela486 Should be able to, check the BIOS for the boot settings, or better yet, invoke the boot menu (sometimes the ESCAPE key or F8, F12 - depends on brand) during startup
what are the system requirements for one of these? im trying to fix a friends laptop which is really old, has 750mhz cpu and about 200mb of ram, would it be able to use one of these?
@klooger28 Needs USB, preferably USB 2.0, preferably Windows XP or above. Check manufacturer specs to be sure. Sounds like it's SO old, it may not work _easily_.
@FreeCompConsultant well it has 2 usb ports taht i could find (although i highly doubt its usb 2.0), and it has windows xp. Im starting to think that its not actually that old but just a really really low end model for mabye 5-6 years ago
i love netbooks and your absouloutly right this is the perfect companion but i can't find one on the local electronics stores websites what should i do.
So with this, i can play the latest video games from DVD's? I'm getting the AlienWare 11X Notebook, then i realised AHHHH no disc drive. With this being external, will it affect the speed of reading from the disc for Video games?
Can you use it to watch Region 1 and 2 movies? (PAL and NAfTa) Or in other words can I watch a european movie and then a North American movie without running into reading problems???
can u use it for games

does it work with windows 7 starter
sheepy55894 1 month ago
@sheepy55894 I have never had the displeasure of working with Win7 Starter but I would suspect it would. All you need is USB suppoort.

Those facing problem, install codecs would help... Google around for more answers

Those using Windows 7 Starter, never ever forget! The only bottleneck in W7S is that you can't watch DVD movies with Windows Media Player...

@alexngkm so do u have to download something else to play it on
