What is this play about? I know the title comes from a "crime" a student commits when he runs up the "down staircase"....but is this a comedy or drama? How long is it? I'd love to know the storyline...I can't tell if it's like "Dangerous Minds" or "Freedom Writers." Thanks!
The play is about a young teacher who is about to teach her first class at a tough, inner city high school in New York. She is completely unprepared, and has to deal with drop-outs and delinquents.
It is actually a dramatic comedy, and it is a little over an hour long with two acts.
I am going to be Sylvia Barrett in my school's production! I'm so excited!
