  • OMG he's using a capo...I'm soooo going to use one for this song now lol...

  • Seven people don't know perfect music when it's being played right in front of them.

  • @LightBulbxXx How how HOW can anyone actively dislike this song? Of course we all have different tastes, but I can't see how anyone can hate it. Wow.

  • I prefer this to the version on the album :D

  • My dad loves Crowded house. We used to get our broadband with Tiscali, then we changed to NTL- much faster and a more reliable connection. Dads idea. This one of my favourite songs of all time :)

  • the dude with white hair on xfactor brought me here !!!!!!! yea git on him

  • Once in a lifetime musician here, we truly are lucky to have heard such beautiful music from a great man

  • 6 people have never felt love

  • absolutely fantastic. what a performer and and song writer. just wish i had the talent to write stuff like this !!

  • ALGUIEN SABE EN QUE TONO ESTA AFINADA SU GUITARRA ??}

  • so nice i had to play it twice.... and then twice more.

  • you can really feel the words that he sings! love it!

  • What an amazing, prolific, honest songwriter. Is there anyone consistently better out there? Wow!

    ...just wow...

  • this guy is a genius great singer song writer

  • Easy on the dramatic description...just listen to it

  • All this stuff about whether he is from Australia or New Zealand? I'm not sure this guy is from this planet. Out of this world talent.

  • Neil has written so many amazing songs, and I believe this is one of his most beautiful.

  • cute man even after all these years

  • Wounderful voice, he's at TOP 5 (Elvis, Roy Orbison, ...)

  • He looks strangely detached here...

  • so nice to hear the real artist, sooooo many bad outta tune tone deaf people on here trying to do covers of this band.

  • I love this version BEST!

  • :D

  • I love, love this man....have been listening to him since early crowded house days. Timeless, beautiful.

  • wonder how many times he's sung this song....really. It would be thousands of times

  • INCREDIBLE!

  • I'm not crying... I've just been cutting onions whilst I was listening... *sniff*

  • This song is so beautiful, yet so desperately sad.

Many people think it's a mushy love song, when infact it's about a guy who's deeply in love with someone who doesn't feel the same. She's in a relationship with another guy, but runs to Neil when things are getting rough. He's her shoulder to cry on, yet he wants so much more.

These lyrics cry out with heart ache.. "Do you want my presence or need my help? Who knows where that might lead"

A stunning song, but so sad.

  • @L33woods very well put.

  • @L33woods i don't hear that she's with anyone in particular: him or someone else. how did you reach this conclusion? love this tune. very sweet!

  • @vleeann She may not be with anyone specifically, but what's clear is that she doesn't want to be with him. She uses him as an emotional blanket when things are rough in her life, but when everything is ok, she doesn't want to know him!

  • @vleeann VERSE ONE - In my opinion, this verse explains the whole concept of the song. He describes his love for her. He lies alone at night thinking of her. He feels a huge connection with her. ""let it go, i'll be there when you call"" - here I think he's asking her to let it all out and talk to him... he'll be there for her.

  • @vleeann CHORUS - He's letting us know that he's always there for her. "...I fall at your feet, you let your tears rain down on me" She's crying on his shoulder.

  • @vleeann VERSE TWO - ""You're hiding from me now, theres something in the way that you're talking"" I interpret this as her not wanting to know him at the moment. Everything is ok in her life, so she has no need for him. The last line is so sad, it's like he painfully accepts her rejection ""Go, I'll be waiting when you call""

  • @vleeann BRIDGE - This is the saddest part of the song for me, and it's where I pick up that she's in a relationship with someone else. ""the finger of blame has turned upon itself"" I imagine that she may have kissed Neil in a moment of weakness, and immediately backed off. ""I'm more than willing to offer myself"" I think here he's trying to tell her they could be a good for each other. ""Who knows where that might lead"" He's almost begging to be with her :(

  • @L33woods I could not agree with you more, Well said!

  • @L33woods Lovely interpretation. I agree 100% but I still think it's a mushy song because of the emotion behind the song of a man in love with a woman. As a woman, I have a *sigh* moment every time I hear it.

  • @L33woods .. and 7 ppl are "the other guy"

  • Amazing Voice

  • AHHH!!! Poetry...just beautiful poetry....words that even without a melody would move me. Just in love with the beautiful simplicity.

  • bloody brilliant.....

  • i got shivers down the spine...

  • Masterclass....

  • wow im such a fan of Neil Finn and billy joel. A difference between them that in my opinion Billy's voice has aged and got deeper as Neil's has barely changed at all. I love Neil's distinctive voice.

  • wow, that put me in a trace. totally blocked out what was going on around me at the time.

  • Love the voice and song. The man is a living legend!

  • This is absolutely amazing! :)

  • Fantastic. So beautiful with just accoustic guitar-one of best song writers and artists of a generation...Really underrated performer.

  • omg! love it so much!

  • Neil is a badass. What an amazing songwriter. Thanks for the amazing songs you've given us Neil!!!!!!!!! Crowded House forever!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • R. WIlliam Murphy - NZ music

  • Brilliant!

  • One of the great songs of the last 30 years.

  • Perfection !!

  • why is the beginning So f'ing loud

  • The 5 people that dislike this have no soul and don't deserve to listen to this!!

  • I want to play it exactly like that. Such a beautiful acoustic song (:

Does anyone know if this has been tabbed?

  • @TwistedBeyond21

i too wouldnt mind if this was tabbed :)

  • Breathtaking. A pure wordsmith.

  • thank god for crowded house. many road trips have been blessed with their music.

  • Tears in my eyes...my heart burst with joy when I hear this... so pure...so deep....amazing!!!!!

  • He can howl with his soul open full aperture. What a talent.

  • heard it on triple j

  • Such a clear and pure voice.

  • Who the FUCK gave this a thumbs down????? as at this moment there are 5 people who dont know theyre BORN!! Anybody not recognising the sheer talent and brilliance of this guy.......is just an oxygen thief!

  • @Neanderthalmanny I think those five idiots that gave this brilliant performance a thumbs down are James Blunt fans. They did not know that Crowded House was the original...and James Blunt version is not interesting!

  • @romallivgf lolol, what are you two, the opinion nazis?? fuck sake grow up and realise that not everyone has the same taste as you, yes its a great song but there are others just as good...wankers....

  • this is just awesome.

  • the perfect perfomance

  • God, I absolutely love Neil Finn's music. He's one of the finest songwriters of our times.

  • lovely xx

  • @ferlbahoo Amen. What a beautiful song. The composition, voice, melody - all about as perfect as can be. I love how Neil perpetually finds new arrangements of the old classics that sound as good as, or better than, the originals.

  • like there sining

  • Boy and bear have done a great cover of this

  • yeah heard it on triple j the other night...nothing compares to this though...just the clean, crisp, unaltered, simple sound of neil's voice and the one acoustic guitar...brilliant...

  • Hell, i'd be happy if i could write a song half as good as Neil's!

  • One of the best - true talent unlike so much garbage nowadays!

Standing for over three hours at the House of Blues Chicago ruined it for me. I was so happy to see though. Wont even go back to the House of Blue ever again.

  • It makes me wanna smash my guitars and tear up my note books....sort of...I'll keep reaching for the brass ring which is this song.

  • I love this song. I dislike that introduction music at the start. Wish it started when Neil starts playing.

  • @SuzLa1 AMEN - I really hate overblown amateur intros from hack editors.

  • x3

    I love it!

    very beautifull...

    (e ele tbm)

    xD

  • Nice acoustic version of a classic.

  • An absolute genius.Words cannot describe the way Neil Finn can get a simple harmony, melody and hook all in the same song.As Paul McCartney once said:Fall at your feet is the greatest song he never wrote!!Never a tuer word spoken.I too can't wait to see Crowded House next month in melbourne!!

  • I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE THEM NEXT MONTH!!

  • love this song

glad i put my cover up!

  • Very nice. Saw Crowded House at Bowery Ballroom in NYC in July. It was even better than I thought it would be They are really good live Check 'em out!

  • @angelotus what do you mean perfect cover? He fucking composed the song

  • beautiful song , great singer, great bloke

  • /bravo ... nice

  • neil finn fall at your feet

  • This is one of the absolute best singer song writers ever and this version of his own song is spectacular. Moved to tears.

  • Did any1 of you noticed that some1 helps him keep voice on some sounds :?

    Same as choir Oo

  • @FUbiber

It's someone doing a harmony, they're working from his melody...not keeping him in tune.

  • still got an amazing voice

  • Wow this song is awesome. His voice is so calming. Not to mention his hair is totally B.A.

  • Just saw him open for Paul McCartney at Hyde Park in London.. he was amazing!

  • You made it!It is perfect!Mayby you think it is not,but let me nomwif any other song make you this way!

  • Yas!You made it!It is one of best songs ever! Thanks

  • Who are the three blasphemers who didn't like this video?

  • amazing

  • Thanks so much for the upload. Exquisite. I can tell you as someone who likes to play and sing that every once in a while hands and voice come together so perfectly to where even the artists thinks " that was pretty damn good". I believe this was one of those times for Mr. Finn.

  • the most talented musician ever! His voice is so soothing and relaxing.

  • I will always love this song - just as much 20+ years later -

  • very nice

  • brilliant...awesome song, awesome band, simple as....

  • Someone once told me there's no such thing as a perfect song - i think they're wrong, and this is it.

  • classic tune and performance from the tank top clad legend that is neil finn

  • That's crazy, beautiful

  • I want to smash my guitar and forget that I ever tried to write a song....perfection

  • @eng1871 right with you there mate, right with you.

  • I drove from London to Glasgow one night listening to the album from which this song comes.

I arrived early in the morning, filled up my tank, turned around and came straight back. I was on a ''journey'' at the time. It was great to live at a time when an ordinary guy could affort to buy a car and enough juice to take days off work and just drive his blues away. Yeah, it was fucking great to be free for those weeks. I'm over her now......hahahaha

  • beautiful

  • I am an American redneck from the south. I don't really have a dog in this fight. I think Crowded House, and especially this dude, are better than the Beatles. And Neil Finn is more talented than McCartney. The Beatles simply came first and put out such well crafted, well written, and well performed music that this kind of music is not as revolutionary, but it is superior in my mind. It has certainly been more of a blessing in my life.

  • @asvmulch

you may be an american redneck but you appear to have some insight!

Now gown and git the dawg offa the porch

  • this gets better every time i hear it

  • Love this song so much.

  • IMPECCABLE!

  • Neil,

It is about "connecting" with your fellow human being.

Some try to buy it, some pray for it and others try very hard and never succeed.

You my friend, have that "connection".

    God Bless you.

    The UTE!

  • He seems to be quite uncomfortable.

  • Good cover.

  • @MelekBetul Neil Finn wrote this song

  • @CaptainAmerica2006. i apologize for my ignorance :-)

  • I didnt say he is Australian I said Australia claimed him as our own because hes a gun. You wankers need to stop rooting your sheep and learn to read.

  • A Kiwi Paul McCartney.

  • Whatever Australia claimed him. Like we do to all the good artist. No one wants to admit they are from New Zealand.

  • @mathewlukethomas Whats wrong with you. Why would you think he is Australian????? He was part of Split Enz, a totally kiwi band. Also crowded house. Part Kiwi and part Aussie.

You ausses need to fucking get over yourself. He's a kiwi not an aussie at all

  • @mathewlukethomas Hahah im kiwi but fair play

  • @teaj84 sorry bit too far... but i do admit we steel all your good artist Niel, Evermore and more recently Ladyhawk shes a gun and hot as. Good work New Zealand.

  • @mathewlukethomas Hahh nah its all good mate a bit of banter never hurt anyone..NZ is dope but its to small to sustain musicial career...my mate is in The Midnight Youth and there album blew up in NZ went plantium two number 1 singles and they havnt made a cent.. he still live with his folks..hahha

  • cette chanson est toujours aussi ennivrante!

  • He is such a great songwriter. His songs haunt me...I wish I could write like him. Just a huge talent!

  • Go New Zealand!

  • he's a kiwi actually.

  • A lot of people give lyrical genius credit to the Bryan Wilson, Leonard Cohen or Bob Dylan but Neil Finn is right up there with the best of them.

  • The Lyric Master!......beautiful!

  • his voice has only bettered and matured with Age.. lol like Diesel and Mark Seymour. can beat a good aussie song like this one

  • @SgtKendick Its a New Zealand song. Not Australian. He is a New Zealander

  • @BPOPINGTMO what you may well find, is he was living in aus, he recorded in aus, with an aus recording company, toured with a US/aus touring company, the songs are claimed as bout. but Crowded house used to change their mind as to where they were really from to suit them... Bass player and Drummer were Aussie too :)

  • what a voice amazing

  • makes you want to quit strumming along he s so god damn good, sounds like an orchestra

  • TOP OF THE RANGE

  • great tune

  • I'm a grown man but Neil's voice can have me in tears. Amazing.
