Isn't there a way you can make a box trap that just traps it by falling over the top of it like they do with pheasant traps? That way it doesn't feel any pain while trapped or suffocate to death and when you get to it you can just kill it quickly... I dunno I just don't like the idea of the trap smashing the crap out of its leg or that thing crushing its chest and it suffocating a long painful death... And NO, I'm not an activist... I'm interested in hunting and trapping and eat meat!
If you are going to set the trap so that it springs forward when the animal jumps into the box instead of backward onto the neck, how is the trap going to kill it?
Anis oil works well, as for fur prices, they fell out the bottom this year. We didn't put the boxes out. I think last year they were a couple of bucks for each good fur.
Great video. Although I would put the hinge in the front where the hook and eye is and then put the hook and eye in the back.I love how you use the dog ear fence slat for wood for the box. I will keep that in mind for other projects too.

Can this box simply be modified with an hatch that closes when the weasel/Ermine pulls at the bait at the end of the box? A trigger hatch quite simply put?
OOPPS, nice catch, I guess you can use either size to build the box. We used 1/2 inch wood for the entire box. We used this because it is less weight than 1 inch boards. Sorry about the confussion. Thanks for the question!
Hmmmm, a rabbit box. I will have to check into that one. If I can find some info I will email you back and let you know. Here in Michigan we usually just hunt them, either with dogs or we simply wall the fields.
