  • Apache, by Ed Macy - one of the pilots, tells the story. Excellent book

  • Has anyone written about this rescue mission ? Would like to read it, thanks

  • Absolutely amazing and very courageous rescue mission in hostile territory by the Royal Marines. Is it true, they went against the higher orders and went back to rescue Lcpl Ford ?

These boys never leave their own behind. Very uplifting, but tinged with sadness. RIP Lcpl Matt Ford

    P.S

Please, I hope the the British film producers make a film about this event. It would be a hit

  • RIP Lance Coporal Matt Ford.

  • way to go!!

  • This is probably as bad ass it gets..

  • Much thanks to the royal marines. He'll of a job guys! We thank you. Eb

  • I HATE WHEN THERES NO SOUND!!!!! I love the sound of that 30mm chain gun :(

  • to all you american haters of britain.you can write a million words about how great you are and how better than us you are in everything. we smile,as you would at a little boy, marching up and down pretending to be a soldier.history, intellect and modesty, three things to be cherished.

  • That'd be quite the bar-room story.

  • @KeepEuropeWhite Excuse me man. Go read, listen, look and learn. Please, biggots are not attractive, not clever and just because you are the few it doesn't mean you're right.

  • @TheARMAProductions Yeah but first we need to teach them how to shoot straight. (sorry to my mates in the states but you lot know what I think and I always say it to your face)

  • Just checking out the comments lads and I can't believe the Yanks. Fuck me sideways on a fucking sunny Tuesday. Why the fuck do Yanks who have NEVER fucking served always troll this kind of stuff. I mean, if you don't fucking have a scooby then don't fucking comment. Nice rescue by the way, fucking deep blue. Sorry I got bailed out before this shit happened otherwise I would be have been sure and swift along with you all.

  • That was in Jugroom Fort, where Corp Matthew Ford was shot, and the Apaches boys had to land (very unusual) to rescue him. Ed Macy and Carl were amongst the first to land, leave the aircraft, use their sidearms for defence, while the other crews dragged Matthew to safety.

  • @TheARMAProductions ho ya? yeah that's cool and all.

you are clearly mad. you responded to my comment so you got mad. my simply replying does not confirm my emotional state. *snorts*

  • @TheARMAProductions interesting concept. trolls are limited to the americas. brilliant absolutely brilliant. bravo -claps-

    someone is mad. *snorts*

  • @TheARMAProductions cool story bro. now go play some video games. like i told the other guy just because you were shat out on top of soil with a specific name doesn't mean you had anything remotely to do with what other people do who were also shat out on top of said named soil. so much misplaced pride.

  • @TheARMAProductions Nope. :)

  • the Apache isn't a British made aircraft, its made by Boeing (which is an American company) the British variant of the aircraft are maintained over here by trained engineers .......................and marines don't say who dares wins as that is the SAS motto

  • @terroriser ...actually, the British Apache is license-built by Agusta/GKN Westland in Britain.

  • I wish i was British, not Commonwealth. Lol

  • @CODtheater aahahahah. You better not be American yourself, if so that just makes you a bit cocky, lol :)

  • This needs ride of the valkyries

  • Balsy as fuck dude!!

  • Be The Best! I love being British!

  • @Wooloops Too bad the Americans made it. ;P

  • @CODtheater hehehe i thought philippines made it?....i think its just collaborating :)

  • @Wooloops being british doesn't relate you to anything that the military of your country does or has done. sorry to bust your bubble but that's like someone saying they're proud to be greek after watching 300 but it turns out there family was only in greece for 2 or 3 generations and only a couple hundred years ago.

    gotta think about shit man.

  • @TheRaellz And you really have to think about how your arse would look after I fucked it with a bayonet.

  • @dwynnell someone is an angry teen ;)

  • @Wooloops Why in hell would you be proud to be British?

  • @Chiefrunningdrunk we arnt ignorant morons who dont know where our own country is on a map, and we know that europe isnt a country. you cleary know nothing about britain, thats why your saying that. and btw, britain are US allies.... get an education

  • @Chiefrunningdrunk They fact they've achieved, innovated and invented more across the board than any nation on earth in modern history? Might be a good reason

  • @Chiefrunningdrunk

because we have the best trained military in the world

  • Who dares...

    Wins.

  • @ProbablyCoolerThanU thats SAS motto not royal marines

  • @wiganerrmc Did I say any different?

Because jumping to conclusion, step back to look at what I said, do you see anywhere I say said "the motto of the royal marines is who dares wins"? did I? DID I?

    No?

    Fuckoff then,

  • @ProbablyCoolerThanU

well why would you sey who dares wins on a RMC video

    fucking muppet

  • @wiganerrmc i have a friend whos a marine aparently marines say it all the time.

  • @ProbablyCoolerThanU well i am a marine and we never sey it

  • @ProbablyCoolerThanU Right attitude, wrong motto.

  • Recently read the book "Apache" by Ed Macy who is a British apache pilot. The clip is Mathew Ford rescue mission explained in details in the book. Highly recommend to read it. Well done Ugly 50

  • These guys need all the support we can give them.

  • @Madhamish1 what do you mean

  • First they were the british ahmk1 apaches and the heroism was coming from mostly ...the pilots

  • @chomper96 no the heroism was comeing for all of the but the RMC more straping them self to the wings of the heli

  • Hats off to anyone brave enough to do this for ONE fallen comrade.

4 Marines, 4 Pilots/Gunners. "Leave no man behind"

    Brave, heroic.

...but still.. they must be nutters... I'm very glad that they are OUR nutters!

  • @jphardcastle I could not agree more with you brother. Fucking true blue shit.,

  • Assange is a c*nt who releases dangerous information at in-appropriate times.

yes we need to know what our Govt is doing but FFS wait until the war is over or at least at a time when the release will not endanger lives.

There are SOME things we should NOT know about.

  • @TheARMAProductions You know Julian Assage when asked about should they reveal the names of informants working for NATO who infiltrated the taliban he responded that if they shouldn't have became informants in the first place, obviously not caring if they were executed, I agree Wikileaks are little more than anarchists, freedom of speech only for them we use F.O.S against them and they shout us down and attack us.

  • Didn't the U.S. Army do something similar a few years ago as well? I could be mistaken about that though. Anyway, heck of a way to "improvise". I bet the soldier had a death-grip on what ever he was holding onto. I know I would.

  • they weren't strapped to the heli on the way back, not enough ropes which is funny. pure heroism.

  • its not fake -- i know two of the guys who took part. also, the details in the books arnt exactly ryt, but there are books bout it.

  • This is what wikileaks wont show to the world

  • @kloikrules it was on the sun website when iit happened.

  • Look at that gun a-swinging, fucking awesome

  • Churchill said it best: one people separated by a common language...God Bless Old Glory and the Union Jack.

As a former Armor Officer, I take great joy in seeing what this video shows: apache pilots doing something extremely risky and Royal Marines TRUSTING those pilots with their lives...As amazing as this seems, you'd find this kind of amazing feats among the free armies of the world (the few that are left)...it seems that only free militaries understand the necessity of service to others...

  • Fake.

  • @jonnibiscuit are you on drugs?

  • @jonnibiscuit its not mate, it was all over the British news when it happened, i remmeber seeing this actualy footage on the BBC

  • @jonnibiscuit its not fake it happend in 2007

  • @jonnibiscuit It's not, google jugroom fort and you see loads of articles on this it's a famous commando rescue!!

  • god bless you all , keep you safe and able to return home heros one and all .

  • @simcardsokl

I am 15. I am from Scotland and I am a total internet bad ass.

Maybe the irony of helping someone by bringing yourself into the exact same situation the one who needs help is in will occur to you some day.

  • ill be flying with the US army in a few years. i promise no friendly fire.. Brits have courage and id love to fly next to them.

  • @ApacheLongbow1225 il wear a flashing beacon on my helmet so you know who i am feller ;) good luck

  • @pirateman1 thank you sir :)

  • met the guy who was strapped to this Apache about a year back at a 'meet the marines' day. Fairly nice guy actually lol

  • @ddredeve idiot. we only invole the Uk for diplomatic cover. how many other countries are involved about 20. so your not so special.

  • @ilovebrasilful Yes alot of countries are involved but apart from the US only the UK has sent alot of soldiers there, the other countries have been criticised for actually sending very few troops and generally not pulling their weight.

  • @ilovebrasilful bullshit!!!! we are the best!!!!

  • The English way baby!!

  • @simcardsokl im the exact same as you then lol ! Per Mare Per Terram!

  • nicely done and ballzy!! those RM's really are tough and they can fight. Very good allies.

  • 3 commando

apache dawn are the books with this event!

    R.I.P Ford x x

  • Yeah the book is amazing, you should try 3 commando brigade aswell it us their side of the story

  • Just finished Ed Macy's amazing book about this incident. I can't believe they pulled this off. What amazing bravery! Reads like a real life James Bond movie. Makes me very proud of our British allies.

  • A great act of bravery. Also a great book by Ed Macy

  • I read the book about this, it was written by the gunner of the apache. Can't believe how brave the men were who did this, SO much respect for them.

  • @95Gokey123 "ED" is a pal of ine mate they take it in turn to "pilot" or "gun" the Apache. He is a top bloke.

It was a skin of the teeth operation. very brave all of them.

Just remember they are fighting to help stop terrorism over here, the uk is full of muslims so watch this space they are hell bent on attacking us so it's when not if we are attacked again.

  • @traw63

Do you wear that tinfoil hat at any time of day?

Like some brown people with soviet aera small weapons really pose a threat to world peace.

It is a 1000 times more likely to be run over by a car than to die in a terrorist attack. You could save 100 times more lives by investing just a fraction of that military spendings in traffic safety.

  • These supposed Islamic courts only deal with divorce and family disputes . You break the law in Britain you answer to British laws , in British courts . So what if more ppl attend mosque than church , there are more ppl here of many religions , plus the secular part of the population. You could however believe the propaganda about the muslimisation of Britain propagated in the states by fundamentalist Christians who have never set a foot in these hallowed isles and just be one of the sheeple :)

  • There are more people that attend mosque every week in Britain than attend church. Britain has even set up special Muslim courts because they refuse to be judged by your laws. I guess the Muslim invasion of Britain is almost complete.

  • @MrJJackYT dont be so bloody stupid, Britian is is something like 85/90% white British, the reason islam is becoming one of the biggest religion is because nobody else gives a fuck about religion here, most people are either godless of dont go to church. Just because they, not Britain, set up what they deem a seperate court does not stop them being taken to a real court if a crime is commited, it is not their choice. You need to know what you're talking about before posting such crap.

  • The pilot/gunner of ugly five 1 which was one of the apaches (Ed Macy) wrote a fantastic book about this called "apache", i recommened everyone reads it its fantastic!

  • @Mikefoot1 VERY GOOD BOOK

  • You have to have big balls to formulate the plan of strapping yourself to the side of an attack helicopter, fly into an enemy compound, land, recover a team mate then get out again. Seriously. Even special forces would have said Fuck that shit.

  • Nerdxcore It was in the news because the guy survived!!!

  • Nerdxcore. Are you a fanny it was all over the news because he survived and was take back on the other apache!

  • the people bitching about usa/ britain, whos better etc arent servicemen. they are just silly kids who play to much call of duty. real soldiers respect each other and dont get involved in stupid name calling and who's the hardest games!

  • Comment removed

  • the royal marines go in hard unlike the pussy americans

  • Did they find the lad? D:

  • @IIxPstylesxII Afraid there was nothing they could do for him. Brought his body back for burial though. This was quite a while ago

  • Comment removed

  • @mickystormont The English are NOT hard bastards but the BRITISH who are hard bastards!

  • who is ed macy

and how was that a rescue

    i didnt see much

  • @theRAFrule Oi you sad Twat ! Ed macy was the Army Pilot that flew on this mission, He also wrote the book,,,, Apache

I see your only a very young Boy, so I will curtail my Language at You

when You grow some Ball s come back, until then F Off

  • @keirfree fuck you, just cas i dont give a shit bout army or apache's, no need to be a twat. go fuck yourself you fuckin army nerd

  • @keirfree and as i can see, you comment alot sayin get your facts right, its you who needs to get your facts right and get a fuckin life

  • That`s wild. I`ve read the excellent book by Mr Macy about the event but never thought I`d see some actual footage.

  • just finished ed macy's book... tells the story of this in great detail. big up respect to the pilots and the marines that risked their own lives to bring back the body of mathew ford.

  • read the book by Ed Macy. he was one of the pilots. very good book!

  • Its very much British!

  • I have just finished the book, very good, I'm guessing there will be a few people who did not want it written!!!!!

  • no one ever metions us aussies we are always brit soldiers......

  • @cadam007 Dude im British and its because British soldiers are dying every week along with the Americans because there are tens of thousands of them however Australia being weak on man power has had just 2 or 3 deaths ever i believe. If we mentioned Australia we would have to mention about 11 countries before, sorry bro. Basically USA and UK are the most powerful countries out there

  • @hurro67 Dude Australia is big land mass, fucking low population. We are the worlds obese toddler :D

  • @WTFworldtankfed hahaha good way to put it ! But yeah as i said they just arent that poweful :(

  • @hurro67 Australia isn't a very powerful nation military wise (coming from an aussie) but the troops that we do have are VERY highly trained and probably the worlds best trained and equipped jungle fighters... but i guess the middle east aint a jungle... but just for the record

  • @cadam007 according to the UN the Aussies have the 3rd most well trained troops after Britain and Russia.

  • @cadam007 I got Respect for Aussies, esp in Hot wet or dry,,,,, But when it comes to the real Ulu leave it to the Brits,..... oh Ulu try Bahasa Malayu

  • @hurro67 11 but most deployed combat troops are commandos special forces and SAS so i guess that might effect the number of casualties sustained

  • @cadam007 massive respect to the aussies mate not just afgan but ww1 and ww2 you lost a lot of men i always think of the aussies as are brothers and nz respect from a brit mate

  • @cadam007 There were little aussie soldiers sent, I think thats why. But the UK,US,Aus,Can,Nz - are always seen as our own.

    Red white & blue

  • im reading a book about this very thing haha

  • brave bootnecks for climbing on outside of the apache, and brave pilots for pushing the limits on the fuel load, nearly went bingo boys!!!! helmand province, get our troops out, give the locals 36 hrs to clear out, then drop some instant sunshine on them, no more talib in that region!!! too simplistic i know, but didnt the americans drop their bomb in 1945 to save lives?

  • @paddyrathmines Don't be a fool. There's s no way to compare Afghanistan with Japan.

  • @jawehawk i wasnt compareing the stan to japan, i was just making the comment that the americans dropped the 2 bombs in 1945 because they believed that in doing so the loss of life on the american side would be reduced, we assume, because the japanese sued for peace, that it worked. sorry but my comment was meant only as my opinion, sorry if it offended you

  • @paddyrathmines NP mate. Sorry for being so offensive. But the Atomic bombs dropped in Japan did save more than 2 million lives. Japan wasn't really a country to give up easily, not to mention that just 1 more month of bombing Japan, would have surpassed the casualties of the first A-bomb.

  • Brave guys doing a great job! I have lost 2 mates there and I will allways support our brilliant British forces.

  • read the book written by the pilot flying the apache, a wo1 named ed macey, it really is the most compelling of reads, landing below the apaches illegal fuel load by a long way.

  • I just read about this in the book Andy McNab Spoken From The Front, one of the marines on the side of the Apache tells the story.

  • TRUE HEROISM!!!! Well done lads!!

  • American, British who cares? U.S.A and Great britain fight together, as an unstopable force

  • Well said friend

  • brothers in arms

  • what happens when a unstoppable force meets a unmovable obstacle?

  • then it would appear we would have a problem

  • then my friend we shove a nuclear missile dick down its throat :)

  • BLOW THE SHIT OUT OF IT!

  • @tek5828 Get out of here, friggin Batman quote user.

  • and Canada!

  • aha lol

  • oops sorry!

  • @parcourkid and it will stay that way

  • @parcourkid WELL SAID MATE !

  • @parcourkid Thank you if youre american or british you think together we can win the war

  • @parcourkid Indeed we will just forget the War of independence and the one 1812

  • your right especially since 99% of these ppl arn't in the forces and havn't served. Americans and British alike respect each other and fight together, they have banter but don't broadcast it over you tube

  • We're 22nd population due to foreigners and muslims who do not wish to fight people of their own religion.

And second, Britain are not getting enough money through due to a recession. Soldiers are not getting the right equipment in and Generals and Ex-Sas servicemen are making a stand.

  • Enough with the cock measuring guys....US and Britain are unstoppable together!

  • It just goes to show that Britain as such a small country contains such great people willing to put there lives on the line, to protect the fate of others!

Respect to all servicemen and women!

  • Britain is not a small country come on...22nd in the world by pop. Plus you've the money.

  • @TheHardGainer WELL SAID MATE !

  • who cares. America and Britain are allies. We give you our stuff, you add to it, vice versa.

  • Read the book written by one of the apache guys who took part in the fort rescue - incredible! Fords body showed up on the FLIR cams with a strong heat signature leading them to believe he was still alive. x4 volunteers were gathered and strapped to the side of the apaches. 1 of the guys didn't even have a strap! Fords body was recovered - but he had received a blue on blue headshot. His heat signature was strong as his body was still functioning despite the fatal wound. RIP. God bless our guys!

  • bad ass

  • Royal Maureens at their best. Good one lads

  • @PCoyBloke at least spell it right, Marines* -.-

  • these guys have balls. the group had just assaulted the fort with vikings and wmks and had to go back to rescue lcpl ford who sadly didnt make it. he was dead when they got there.

  • They're Royal Marines...

...they have an extra set ;)

  • aye, hoofing chaps to a man!

  • This is britain at its best when it comes to rescue missions.this is what alot of people dont see how clever us brits are when it comes to ideas!

they did a good job and im dam proud!

  • the gunner of one of the Apache's - Ed Macy wrote a book about it which i am reading... 3/4 finished...

Its titled Apache and i can greatly Reccomend it.

was very suprised to find a video of it here...

  • Also the book 3 Commando Brigade opens with a chapter about Jugroom fort and the attempt to rescue L/cpl Mat Ford. i'd reccomend that book too.

  • British Ingenuity ;-)

  • Ok you little fuck tard. One it is a WAH-64, British. Two It is better than the American Version and Three if it is great? Why did you get defeated in Helmand?

  • read the book apache by Ed Macy (it's a good book) you'll find ours our heavily modified and are actually better than the american ones

  • american helicopter with british engines, british drive system, british gunsights. its 100 times better

  • because the british engine, drive system and gunsights are better than the american ones. this is not a case of national pride its fact!

  • Please, don't forget the USA, could always restart the RAH-66, PROGRAM, at any time, mate!! " Never bet against the house " Old son!!!

  • we're talking about apaches here, not comanche

  • All right mate!! , well said, but,..... if the USN, had gone ahead with the proposal to introduce the "SEA-APACHES", (naval variant) a couple of years back, the upgrades would have been about the same as your WAH-64 !!!! This is not a case of national pride, but "military" fact. cheers!!!

  • you're very strange

  • I'd do get that a lot, from the UK viewers, when, a bloody yank!!! comes across with a little "know-how"&"what-for",(again, not trying to sound like, a arrogant-ass, yank!!!)
