When someone commits suicide, they are influenced by irrational thoughts; they are mentally unstable... which over rule the loving feelings he had for the people around him. I'm actually quite surprised - not just by some of the delightfully mental conservative religious sentiment in this comment thread, but by the way he's been left alone by the tabloids. I thought he would have been demonized by all and sundry by now, but Fleet Street did it right for once - they acknowledged his drug problem, as is their duty as journalists, but focused mainly on the tragedy of his death instead of deriding him as some sort of child corruptor.

He is not in hell. Bringing smiles to millions of childrens faces, he was a very bright and happy man but he DID get involved in drugs with his girlfirend. And seeing his girlfriend like that knowing that it was partly his fault messed him up thats y he commited suicide. As I've said on many comments b4, we don't know wat Marks last thoughts were and God is a "just" God, who judges fairly. God WAS there wen Mark died, but he chose NOT 2 interfere I DON'T know why he chose not 2 interfere, but whatever God does or doesn't do is 4 a purporse. We will find out what Gods purpose 4 NOT interfering is on the day that Jesus returns 2 the eath.

You can't accuse someone of being inconsiderate when their mental state is very much out of the ordinary! It's not like he just went through an absolutely harrowing loss (made even more harrowing by feelings of partial responsibility) and shouldn't be hounded like scum now that he's tragically died - you're right, he did drugs one time so let's oil up the corpse, dip him in cocaine and parade him around the streets of London like a sadistic Sherbert Fountain to teach everybody what happens when you do drugs. Having read the above comments I feel somewhat neutral- some people are being very sheepish in pretending theres nothing wrong with doing drugs. When someone in public life dies tragically silly little sheep endorse a sort of slavish voyeuristic people worship; its a sort of martyrism. I know you wrote this ages ago, but I think it needs to be pointed out that Mark wasn't "a naive drug user", it was his fiance Natasha that was the drug user and overdosed, Mark was so distraught over her death that he hanged himself, there is no evidence that he (or she) was a regular drug user, she may even have intended suicide.

Granted they may have been exagerated; I can't really remember but unless every media outlet was completely wrong drugs were involved at some point. Yes, drugs WERE involved at some point, but HE wasn't "a naive drug user", you impled he was responsible for his death because he was mixed up in drugs, when in fact he wasn't at all- Natasha was involved in drugs, he was trying to get her off them, and when she died he killed himself because he felt responsible for not helping her sooner.

I can tell you have never done drugs, which isn't a criticism, but it also means you need to STFU because you don't know any of the circumstances. I remember watching him on SMart when I was a kid. He always seemed, and according to everyone who knew him, was a thoroughly nice, down-to-earth bloke.
