  • She's bloody Shakespeare.

  • "Chips of plutonium, twink-a-ling in every lung" - best couplet ever written!

  • Fuck the skies.. There is not much more wonderful than this...

  • thanks for this posting - kate bush is a genius. wish I could watch her live one day.

  • @neosweelin In 30 years she only did 1 tour.

  • KATE?

    She is a GODDESS!

  • When she begins with the Corus "Breathing...." it fills my eyes with tons of tears!!

In the beginning only voice and piano then the BASS and then "Breathing..........."

Voice, lyrics, melody and the BASS in the background....it´s too much for me....

A MAN don´t have to cry?? Shit!

  • There's so much humanity in that voice I could cry.

  • Ah I love these sort of jackets they had back then. lol

personaly I can't listen to Kate Bush's music too much especially this one as to me she's like a siren and i'm a boat captain in a huge tempest at sea. if I continue listening to it i'll crash. her music put me in a trance. lol

  • @skinwalkerxxx Brilliant analogy. she is a Siren to so many of us lost in the crashing of the waves and rock(s).

  • @kennywowie may her songs be immortal

  • one of my favorite ....

  • Beautifully simple version of a great song.

  • She's a queen!!!!

  • Oh Kate, why did you stop performing live? :(

  • I love her voice.

  • does anyone know where i could download this version? thanks in advance if anyone can help.

  • The horror of breathing in the ashes of everyone killed by the blast...!

  • For the love of Laurent.

  • Ella Fitzgerald, Marianne Faithful and Kate Bush are the most unique and for me best female singers in the 20th century. Catie is outstanding, never get tired to listen and watch(!) this fabulous artist and woman !!!!!!!

  • excellent performance!! I love this.

  • simply amazing

  • i wish she would have sung live more often... but im insatiable with kate.

  • Splendid performance from Kate!

  • A-M-A-Z-I-N-G

  • Kate defines GREATNESS!

  • She is fantastic, the way she swings and thrills on notes, and the passages from low to stars.... she is a dream!!

  • incredible.

  • This is from Gaffa.org: "A live solo performance of the song for the Comic Relief benefit shows, April 1986; from the home video. An economical and very powerful live performance of the song, which Kate sings alone on stage, accompanying herself on electric piano."

  • Why does she seem sort of "reserved" vocally in live performances (except for ther lives in 1979)?

  • Comment removed

  • @Grotomode I love Kate but I agree with you that Kate has often seemed somewhat reserved when singing live. I know those songs must be very difficult to sing - the high pitch etc, but I actually thought the '79 tour live vocals were a bit tame - particularly Wuthering Heights. Of-course she's dancing as well and allowances must be made, but I do hear nerves in her live vocals. Perhaps that's one reason why she prefers the studio. I'll still take an album every 10 years though.

  • Wow I think I like this better than the album version! Gotta learn it on piano :)

  • there is simply no other musician, even if I listen to their songs more often, who can move me as much as Kate Bush

  • 2:35 that's the time I start crying!

  • Do you know if this was at the same time as she sang Do Bears, her duet with Rowan Atkinson, she wears the same.

  • Totally magnificent, and live?!??!? Wowo! that's a treat :-)!

  • THE ONE AND ONLY KATE BUSH !

    Such a talented artist (L)

  • goo goo ga ga

  • Amazing!

  • ...1:40 is the time... She makes you cry...

  • I can't stop watching this! Loveliest performance of all time topped with that adorable smile at the end. :)

  • Hey, look, It's not a competition between this two brilliant musician.Point and finish

  • i wish she liked to perform live like tori amos... imagine how brilliant her live shows would be?! what a shame.

  • she is an angel!!! send from godfather himself!!

  • phenomenal!

I would give anything to see her live

  • me too! I feel like seeing her live would be such a transcendent experience...too bad it will prob never happen

  • oh no, don't say that. can't lose my hope

  • what a beautiful song... she's so great

  • I love Kate when she's live, considering we only usually hear her album version.

  • This is better than her official video.

  • Fine version.

  • This song makes me cry.

  • Has anyone got an mp3 of this?

  • I have. Do you want it?

  • @badwolf1234

    Yes! :D

  • what must it be like for someone who hadn't performed live in so long (this was 1987 at the Secret Policeman's Ball) to do this in front of a pretty big crowd (there for the mixed comedy line-up too, not necessarily for Kate)? She's let's the song do it...

  • No, this is from Comic Relief in 1986, the same show where she sang "Do Bears...?" with Rowan Atkinson. Just check Gaffaweb.

  • I stand corrected. I was going by the album release (I think). Either way my point still stands.

  • kate takes such a complicated piece of music-simplifies it and still is perfect!!!!!! love ya kate!!!!!!!

  • Very beautiful! Love you Kate!

  • I may be biased as I've always been a fan. I really like this vid. Particularly as the sincerity in Kate's voice carries it better than it was done in the original 7". Well done Kate. (and a don't mean to patrononise in that). x

  • Happy birthday Kate!!

  • i love her forever, she is awesome

  • i love kate, she is fkin awesome

  • this kate is one of my favorites...........a great song

  • such beautiful and unusual chord changes, and played in such pretty key. i love this live version.

  • 2:30

'Oh quick, breathe in deep!' (Hair stands on end!!!)

Could you imagine - Wuthering Heights, Hammer Horror, Breathing, There Goes a Tenner, Cloudbusting, Sensual World, And So Is Love, King of the Mountain - all played with just a piano.

We should storm Westminster to demand that she does!

  • Easily the most magical thing i have ever heard; gives me chills. Such divinity, Kate Bush.

  • A superbly beautiful number

Kate in many ways I love you

and when your songs sing to me

I hold my hand out and can almost

    feel yours next to me

  • drives me to tears

  • me to, so intimate, with only piano..

  • Absolutely brilliant, a song that I thought could not be done live, but this is even better far better than the album cversion and that bril, this is stunning thanks for posting it.

  • God, I wish she would just do a tour of no major proportion, just sitting at a keyboard playing her songs. She does this song so incredibly considering how produced it is on NEVER FOREVER. I deeply respect her choice not to tour, not to perform live often, but this just reminds me that even a little bit, a little "simplified" Kate is just so special. Thanks for posting.

  • this song is so dark, but great

  • how bout air

  • La più grande di tutte, l'unica, insuperabile, favolosa, da inchinarsi, solo e sempre lei, la NUMERO 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GRAZIE DI ESISTERE!!!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful.

  • Exemplary, unrivalled Kate.

  • Fantastic live performance. Love it!

  • A wonderful live performance. :)

  • Is that a Yamaha CP-80 that she's playing?

  • what year was this?

  • I believe, 1986.

    Regards

  • tanx

  • Are you sure? I thought this was an older Kate because she is not looking so thin anymore here, more like how she looks now? Or wasn't she always that skinny? I love her music, but did not see much of her videos yet. I love Youtube. Such a discovery!

  • I'm pretty sure that this is a 1986 performance. She did start to swing in weight around this time, this was just after the release of The Whole Story. She put only two new songs together for the ablum.

  • I think its the camera angle. At the end as soon as she smiles, you can tell its the beautiful young Kate :) Love her the way she is now too of course - she's still the most beautiful woman in the world to me (in a non weird way) and she produces the most beautiful music. one of my faveourite performances.

  • @bethhartweblog Are you kidding? How shallow are you? who cares how fat or thin she is. She is a genius, beutiful and brilliant. No wonder there are so many anorexics. Get real!

  • @bethhartweblog Is this post for real? How shallow are you? Who cares about how thin she is? She is a genius, talented brilliant creative. Get real. The look you see in magazines are not real and in most case unhealthy. No wonder there are so many anorexics!

  • @AmesEla Yes, Kate was very thin in her twenties, but that's normal, lots of people change when they turn 35 or 40, that's normal, and not relevant here.

  • @CHFCooper yup.. tis the comic relief video version,

  • @skinwalkerxxx yep 86, it's the performance on the comic relief video.

  • Stunning performance. Breath-taking song. Absolute class..

  • You can tell a real artist when they sing live, Kate Bush is amazing:)

  • beautifull acoustic performance!!
