After listening to you advocating exposing those around us with the most beautiful forms of every genre, e.g. Music and Beethoven. I'm wondering who the artist is who composed the ring tone on your mobile phone? :-)

David, I agree that education is a must, as I value it very highly. Yet, I think you should rethink whether it will actually remedy most ills or our society- the sickness is in the heart, and much deeper than having knowledge. Many smart people have turned wicked, and a nation that has hearts that care not for God's ways is a nation that could become even worse if they gain more knowledge- they'd be "wise" on how to go about strengthening their sick worldview
I remember hearing someone ask why we Orthodox commune infants without first allowing them to grow and teaching them why it's important to commune. The priest they asked responded by saying "why do you feed your infants without first allowing them to grow and teaching them why it's important to eat? If Holy Communion is 'real food and real drink' then it is essential to their growth and development and they should partake even as they learn it's importance."
getting a job is such a hard thing that yes primary purpose is that. Unsure about importance of plato but critical thinking is useful.
