  • Montgomery Ward...wow. Memories!

  • Jerry Jensen was the man. I really miss him.

  • Folks, this was how ABC rolled back in the day with their local stations. They rolled hard. and Ruled!

  • I believe that electronic music used in the news open was used by WXYZ Detroit as bumper music on their 11pm newscast for many years.

  • I miss living in the Bay Area and watching Channel 7. The set was a good one.

  • I dig that set!!

  • Look at the 20/20 clip they were 30 years ahead of their time on Pot

  • The short Family Feud promo looks like the WABC 1980 promo for match game.

  • @recto89 - The graphics may well have been the same; the only question is, did the other three ABC O&O's of the time also use that layout?

  • The other Question is Where is VanAmburg at? Did he have the night off on this one or did VanAmburg only did the 6pm News. Since this is the 11pm news.

  • @recto89 - From what I've gathered, Van Amburg only anchored the 5 and 6 P.M. editions at that point.

  • The news lady Jan Carson in this video used to work both KTRK (KGO's ABC O&O sister station) and KPRC in Houston! And Jerry Jensen sorta reminds me of the late KPIX news anchor Dave MacElhatton!

  • This would have been a year after KGO's "News Scene" ceased to use a dub of the WABC-made "Cool Hand Luke" theme, instead fashioning their own edit (from the original "Tar Sequence" cut based on WABC's.

Also . . . wasn't that TV Guide ad one of the last to use that three-note spacey music dating to c.1968? (Philadelphia broadcaster Taylor Grant, heard on this ad, lasted a few months more.)
