@WABBITS8 This is the 16:51 service to blackpool north calling at Bramley, New Pudsey, Bradford Interchange, Halifax, Sowerby Bridge etc etc. Bloody hell's bells he gets around dunnee ?? lol lol
I'm sure they used to use this voiceover at Edinburgh Haymerket up until a few years ago, and always found the announcements clear and easy to understand back then. Not any more, now they use the station staff who always shout way too loud and too fast to be understood.
Yes, her name is Celia Drummond. As for pronouncing the station names, she is given the same direction as Mr Sayer at the time of recording - which are wrongly pronounced?
It always cracks me up when I'm waiting for my *Lichfield Trent Valley! :-D* train, and everyone hears that "ding-ding-dong-dong" noise, hoping it's our train on it's way, but it's him going "May I have your attention please?" - as if anyone is going to say no?!?!
@trowpiks Phil has done very well for himself. He started out as a slot machine repair guy and was then one of the original DJ's on Picadilly Radio in 1974. He's totally down to earth and is most likely one of the clearest voices in the business.
100 times better than that monotone woman announcer.

Trouble is it is John Mundy doing the announcements!!
trowpiks 1 year ago
@trowpiks That is not John Mundy doing the anouncement. It's Phil Sayer 100%, I should know he lives a few doors down from me in North Bolton
priceshagger 1 year ago
@priceshagger On second thoughts you are most probably right. I found both gents on the net. They sound very similar.

@gm66power The voice is a series of recordings of real human being, but the system itself is computerised.

Good announcer- professional and clear.
I don't like tanoys that have people mumbling at the other end- not only is it frustrating its potentially dangerous.
Mr Sayer should give them practise.
WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 2 years ago
he does all the announcements at my local station, chippenham. prefer the posh lady that does them at bristol temple meads.
