@IDonateLife ever seen a Hemi slick? obviously not, or you'd know that this beautiful example is a 440 magnum. Jesus! Crawl back under your rock (no, not YOU Jesus, I was talking to IDon'tHaveALife).
@IDonateLife Uh, "Genius" a Barchetta is a genre of italian sportscar, not a marque. Think of a big Austin Healey (see sportscars, british, 1950s/1960s), except with a badge that says Maserati, Ferrari, Fiat, or Alfa Romeo. Quit donating life and buy a fucking vowel you automotive know-nothing dweefus. That Bee is North American Muscle with BICEPS, pure POWER. not a dainty little twist and turner, long live the 440 Magnum!
@IDonateLife , while your correct that Ferrari did have a model called a Barchetta, the term as far as car design goes it much more ambiguous. It is an italian term referring a small "open style" 2 seater generally made for racing. In the spirit of liberal translation, I think this video does a fine job relaying the idea by which Neil Peart wrote the song, which was inspired by a short story that appeared in 1973 issue of Road and Track. @Probinson, take your meds and settle down already!
I agree 100% RUSH is the once in a dozen lifetimes chance of 3 genius level musicians actually meeting and becoming a pricesless asset to music fans the world over. They will never be equaled or replaced.I play several instruments and none of their music is easy to play let alone write. I was born in the early 60s so I was able to watch them grow from the beginning.I have every album and a witnessed many shows.I can only shake my head in disbelief when I see copycat idiots like lady dudu
When I was a 12 year old kid Rush Moving Pictures was the first album I ever owned. My Mom bought it for me. I listened to it over and over again hundreds of times.I still have it. I once asked her how she came to pick that album and she had no recollection of getting it for me.
@bj50123 Well , lets look at who has " NO CLUE"! Please, by all means, feel free to share your opinion, without reading any other posts, or God forbid you read the description of the video..... I know what a Barchetta is (cars are my life) I just didn't care to use one
what a moron, sure we know its a damn forien piece of expensive crap. I like this author like Mopars and AMERICAN MUSCLE cars ! I own 3 1971 Dodge Challengers and respect his LOVE of Mopars and this song. This song and video catches the spirt of the love and lust of driving a performance car.
THANK YOU, from a NON idiot poster ~ Thanks for "getting the love of cars" ~
@bj50123 Well, I must admit that I would never of had the image of this car in my head. I find the "lines" of 60's & 70's American vehicles to be less than pleasing and otherwise "blocky". To me they are just large engines & drive trains placed inside giant square vessels with wheels. A gleaming Red 166MM comes to mind when I here this song. However, to each his own...
not news to most rush fans, but the song was allegedly based on a 70's short story called something a like 'a quiet sunday drive' about a man drving an old MG Midget
my excuse for saying this - I've finally got one!! I played this over and over as i drove it home, a small dream fulfilled - (Its in bits now being restored but come summer...)
Try playing Lee's bass lines (and singing) simultaneously, Lifeson's guitar riffs/arpeggios and solos, and finally Peart's syncopated drum rhythms. None of the above is easy to perform.
The "musicians" in many of the so-called bands of today would be completely and utterly out of their depth i.e. bands like say McFly or U2. Rush's complicated awesome music could well be described as being on a "timeless wavelength"!!
Agree wholeheartedly - I play bass myself and that symultanous work of Geddy Lee is a masterpiece. Most of the contemporary popular band musicians are far behind what these thrree can stiil do :-)
BTW: On the side pannel just under the doors was the "crest" or the "F" for the Fiat line. Next to it was the word: "barchetta"
Dreams do come true, and some never die.
The car is long gone now and at 51, I still remember it like an old friend. Maybe one day I'll buy another, paint it red and get the interior done up in black. Put the top down, put the shades on and see what she can do...AGAIN!
It was back in the summer of 1979 when I bought my first car (with my own money), I was living in Tucson, AZ., 20 years old and stationed at Davis Monthan Air Force Base. My car?
A 1974, Fiat 124 Spyder, 5 speed convertable... RED with black interior.
Top down, sunglasses (shades) on with the wind in my hair....imortal.
In 1981, I drove it solo to my home town of Greenwich, CT and later shipped the car to West Germany as I was to be stationed at Ramstein AB. The Autoban was SWEET! THNX
I dont know what it is about this one song, it WILL be played at my funeral a long time from now!
it brings out such a gratifying feeling man, cool vid, and I am happy to see others enjoy the shit out of the song as well....should start a Red Barchetta club.
I will do it, dont think I wont, if interested hit me up!
Nice car really makes me miss my 70 Chevelle crusin' and jamming Rush in my new Alpine cassette deck and blasting my Jensen Quads. What a GLORIOUS time. A time when our musical hero's actually played instruments. Not this modern day ZERO talent beat box BULLSHIT!! C'mon folks Lady UGH UGH,Skittles,10 cent, Lil Bow Wow are FCKN serious? Talentless ZERO'S.. These posers can't even tune an instrument. Saw Rush 5 times live Peart,Lee,Alex simply AMAZING. Thank you CANADA!!

@sandro28grizz I met a woman who just saw Rush in the TD Garden in Boston. She was a total Rush fan. I would have married her but.........I'm already married.
We're just a band that likes this kind of music and relates more to the 60's, 70's and 90's than today's music. We're just looking to be heard, if you would actually take the time to listen one of our songs on our channel and comment, we would really appreciated it. Thanks Peace.
2 r2chargers Thanx for taking the time to entertain us. Great job, Really. Beautiful car. I like the snyncronicity of the video with the music. Truly, great job. You know there really such a car as a Barchetta, it's British Early sixties.
If you feel the need to point out the difference between a Ferrari and a Dodge this song is not for you. This song is about freedom. That's it. Ever really felt it? Mine was in a bad ass hemi, too.
This video depicts what Americana used to be...a time capsule..
Now we have drug gangs running wild, electric cars, the gov't intruding more and more on your rights, and illegals camping out while you pay the bills..
here we are...2009...how far are we from our own MOTOR LAW...this is the best car song of all time....keep the old cars like they were meant to be, don't let the government legislate them into extinction
cool video. check out mine please. type in " red barchetta videonew" and let me know what you think thanks. PS. im a mussician for 20 years and this is the beast song ever.
My favourite Rush song! Your vid captures the essence really well. I can smell that hot metal and oil, the scented country air. The willing engine responding with a roar! A very nice job and a very nice car!!
@TripodOfFury its about a 1960's Ferrari or Fiat type from that era, its got nothing to do with an american car! But its a great story of an escape from a futuristic opressive police society, RUSH Rock On!!!
@TripodOfFury ; its not about an american car, its about a 1960s type Ferrari or Fiat convertable, barchetta meaning "small boat" in Italian. Its also about a futuristic police controlled society which is taking place today, RUSH was way ahead of their time, RUSH Rock on!!!
@mdigro I didn't mention anything about an american car. I am aware of the word barchetta. r2chargers kindly informs us all, below the screen, that the slide show features a 1969 Super Bee. I understand the context of the narrative. Rush WERE ahead of their time. I've been a serious fan of Rush since the late 70's. Rush do rock.. Enjoy your day.
Man! I'm an old Rush Fan and Musclehead, so you had me before it started, but this is awesome! Excellent photography and creativity. 2:45 is cool. The 100mph+ shot, and the new cop car. So funny, plays right with the story. Great Job. Makes me wish my 69 Mach I was running. You have a beautiful car. Peace
I guess this song is based off a sci-fi short story Neil Peart read that takes place "[after] the Motor Law." Who knows, maybe this generation will see a "motor law" happen. Can't burn fossil fuels forever.
This is a great video! I love the song and NEVER thought to have set it to a red Super Bee instead of a red Barchetta...WOW! My first car was a 72 Plymouth Satellite and even though it wasn't a Super Bee at least it was kind of close :)! You did a great job with the pictures of the farm and the "uncle". Thank you for taking the spirit of the song and the car and putting them together!!
Listen to this song with Obamas new Cap & Trade laws as a backdrop. Gasoline cars will become illegal under Obama. Rush was very prophetic to the future of the gasoline car !! How fitting !!
any old red car will do I suppose..lol it's pretty
cherry :)

That last star trek movie tipped it's hat to this song.
Unfortunately it wasn't a happy ending.

2 r2chargers Thanx for taking the time to entertain us. Great job, Really. Beautiful car. I like the snyncronicity of the video with the music. Truly, great job. You know there really such a car as a Barchetta, it's British Early sixties.

NO it's a Ferrari, barchetta means small boat in Italian

If you feel the need to point out the difference between a Ferrari and a Dodge this song is not for you. This song is about freedom. That's it. Ever really felt it? Mine was in a bad ass hemi, too.

great song. wrong car. the Barchetta was a Ferrari

Barchette was made by Ferrari. Which makes perfect since that it was red.

My favourite Rush song! Your vid captures the essence really well. I can smell that hot metal and oil, the scented country air. The willing engine responding with a roar! A very nice job and a very nice car!!

@TripodOfFury I agree completely, this is my favorite Rush song of all time. i have been lucky enough to see them play it live. Rush is the best.
cyrenaprincess2112 1 year ago
@TripodOfFury its about a 1960's Ferrari or Fiat type from that era, its got nothing to do with an american car! But its a great story of an escape from a futuristic opressive police society, RUSH Rock On!!!
mdigro 1 year ago
@mdigro I can see it being misunderstood though, the fact that the car in the video is a Dodge.
horkguy16 1 year ago
@TripodOfFury ; its not about an american car, its about a 1960s type Ferrari or Fiat convertable, barchetta meaning "small boat" in Italian. Its also about a futuristic police controlled society which is taking place today, RUSH was way ahead of their time, RUSH Rock on!!!
mdigro 1 year ago

Peace

Think Italian 2 seat sports car, not American muscle car. ;-)
