This raider is a nice looking bike. I recently sold my V Star custom. I really enjoyed this bike and can only image the raider giving the same or better experience. I would like to own one but still high priced. I would prob go with a HD Rocker-C instead.

@HarleyDavidsonRockz Definitely I will buy a bike with a fuel line issue that could explode, or the 111569 bikes they recalled for the fuel tank issues. Everyone has problems with production sometimes. Less than 1% of Raiders suffered a lifter issue and that was limited to a small batch of 09's. Some people don't like the looks and well that's personal.

For all you claiming that the Japanese are making "fake Harleys" or copying HD, you might want to learn some history when HD was making singles and copied Indian's V Twin design. Everyone copies everyone, it's marketing 101. Harley is no more original than Star, Honda, Victory etc...
Yeh...remember in the 70s and 80s, when the japanese companys were saying that the V-Twin configuration was inferior, But HD held true, now the japanese companies do what they do best...sit back watch..let someone else do it and verify what is tried and true, then jump on the band wagon.
@matrox The v-twins they made back then were inferior, too much vibration, severe piston damage, overheating, oil pumps constantly having to be replaced... the list goes on.
Don't get me wrong, HD has the best built bikes out there, its just too bad the engines were complete shit up until they copied the japs a few years back.

I own the '08 Tommy Blue Raider S. It's a great bike and I highly recommend it. I have had no trouble with cooling on even the hottest Texas days. Its a great looking biking and handles well.

Had one for a few months , got rid of it , slow 1 mph traffic in 40 degree temps reaked havic on them . Seen a couple of them in Sturgis shut down , the fuel line swells up as the gas vaporizes causing flooding and excessive oil consumption .

ive got a blue with ghost flames 08 harley rocker c its awesome, it never over heats in traffic, i live in littlerock ark.but i did ride a raider s and it is a very powerful bike, i hope it doesnt really have an overheating problem its a very well made metric bike.
Good ride , lot's of power , but has a overheating problem in hot slow traffic and so does the v-star . Seen a couple of them over heat on Sturgis main street and shut down .

I have 23 years of riding experience , from little 400s to 1100ninjas to Harleys and many v-twins . I lost count after 30 or so motorcycles and many sleds , and has been building engines since I was 14 . Not only did I have trouble with my Raider so did several others that Iv'e noticed in Sturgis from overheating in hot traffic , and the 1700 Star has the same problem . Like I said , just stating the facts , If your buying a metric v-twin go Honda .
Good choice , M109s are tough , but like I said , the Star and Raider get so hot in slow hot traffic it shuts of . Seen 2 of them in Sturgis cooling of .
Just stating the facts , I sold my raider 2 months ago for that reason . I do a lot of riding in hot traffic down south , don't need a bike shutting of in a down town . It's easy to talk tough behind a computer .
Nice bikes , but they need to refine their air cooled engines . I have a couple buddies with a Raider and a 1700 v-star that get so hot in traffic they shut of , for eg. in Sturgis Main st. My Dyna just keep on going .
I just got my raider and lovin it. I can understand both points of view; just made up my mind that I'm goin to get a Harley too. Can't wait to have both. I believe there's something to both worlds, if you can afford it, why not both?
I could not agree more HD-USA. Shut up and ride. My wife and I both started riding (a "fly" of a bike) Ninja 250's. All the Harley people have been very supportive and tell us ride em till the wheels fall off then come get a real bike and we all laugh. Two wheels- open road- rubber side down- ride what makes you happy.
I just bought my raider three days ago and love it!!! I also have two other friends that bought Harleys(Dyna Series) and they can't keep up. I do have to admit...when we pull up any where all the looks go to the Raider.
Saving the dollars now for when people start getting over the "got to be first to have the new thing", and start selling these bikes for the next new thing, I will be first in line to pick up one nice machine. The new Raider looks like a winner to me!
my vs1400 has over 28thousand miles on it..(bought new in 05) and runs like a new one .... proved itself to be a good bike so I threw about 3 thousnd bucks on it ...LOVE it better than any harley and it's stock motor will eat the HELL outta any stock harley of comparable size ....don't leak a drop or use a drop ...and don't have to stay in the shop or spend money on rinky dink overpriced parts!

I've had them all(American-Jap-European)! I prefer my 2000 Nightrain. I'll probably never buy another new Harley because they are all Fuel Injection. I realize that all big bikes are now FI, so from now on I'll have to settle for an older Hog that I can fit late model improvements to.
PS...FI can leave you stranded (Fuel Pump-sensors-etc.) and cost more to repair, even when doing it yourself! I have had six bikes go over 100k, Yea....I ride!!!

Ok,Just to avert any confusion, I own a very nic 05 HD heritage softtail. That being said I have also owned in the past 2 v star 1100. I also currently own a yamaha fazer fzx 700. My harley only has 2300 mi on it. and it already leaks oil. Not saying they all do, but this does seem to be the theme. I recently rode the new raider and I can honestly say that I will be selling my HD to purchase the raider.
I am amazed at the pettiness of all of your comments. I am a woman who is 40 who has been riding motorcycles since I was 15. I have ridden hondas, yamahas, suzukis, and Harleys, though I have never owned a HD yet. That is my goal within the next 5 years after getting out of anesthesia school. The only thing I never liked or understood about HD riders was that they would never wave to other riders if they weren't on a Harley too. How elitist! We're all bikers & should remember that! PEACE!

Guys, I need a technical advice please.
I am from Egypt & the temperature in the summer sometimes reaches over 45c (113F), the average is about 40c (104F).
So...Is the air cooled Raider engine capable to run normally in such weather ?? and not overheating ??
I ride a V-star 1300 water cooled & it is running well in the hot summer till now :)
Willing to receive advises from you guys...please.

I own the '08 Tommy Blue Raider S. It's a great bike and I highly recommend it. I have had no trouble with cooling on even the hottest Texas days. Its a great looking biking and handles well.

Had one for a few months , got rid of it , slow 1 mph traffic in 40 degree temps reaked havic on them . Seen a couple of them in Sturgis shut down , the fuel line swells up as the gas vaporizes causing flooding and excessive oil consumption .

ive got a blue with ghost flames 08 harley rocker c its awesome, it never over heats in traffic, i live in littlerock ark.but i did ride a raider s and it is a very powerful bike, i hope it doesnt really have an overheating problem its a very well made metric bike.

Good ride , lot's of power , but has a overheating problem in hot slow traffic and so does the v-star . Seen a couple of them over heat on Sturgis main street and shut down .

I have 23 years of riding experience , from little 400s to 1100ninjas to Harleys and many v-twins . I lost count after 30 or so motorcycles and many sleds , and has been building engines since I was 14 . Not only did I have trouble with my Raider so did several others that Iv'e noticed in Sturgis from overheating in hot traffic , and the 1700 Star has the same problem . Like I said , just stating the facts , If your buying a metric v-twin go Honda .

I could not agree more HD-USA. Shut up and ride. My wife and I both started riding (a "fly" of a bike) Ninja 250's. All the Harley people have been very supportive and tell us ride em till the wheels fall off then come get a real bike and we all laugh. Two wheels- open road- rubber side down- ride what makes you happy.

my vs1400 has over 28thousand miles on it..(bought new in 05) and runs like a new one .... proved itself to be a good bike so I threw about 3 thousnd bucks on it ...LOVE it better than any harley and it's stock motor will eat the HELL outta any stock harley of comparable size ....don't leak a drop or use a drop ...and don't have to stay in the shop or spend money on rinky dink overpriced parts!

I've had them all(American-Jap-European)! I prefer my 2000 Nightrain. I'll probably never buy another new Harley because they are all Fuel Injection. I realize that all big bikes are now FI, so from now on I'll have to settle for an older Hog that I can fit late model improvements to.
PS...FI can leave you stranded (Fuel Pump-sensors-etc.) and cost more to repair, even when doing it yourself! I have had six bikes go over 100k, Yea....I ride!!!

With that said I have riden Harleys in peticular the Road King, Very nice bike but I do believe that the Harley is a status symbol. there are harley snobs and I dont know why we all ride just because I ride a Star instead of a Harley big flippin deal you know I wave to those on croch rockets even though I ride a cruiser, lets get over the "I got a Harley and you dont" Thing. Cuz when its all said and done we just want to ride.enjoy the summer

Ok,Just to avert any confusion, I own a very nic 05 HD heritage softtail. That being said I have also owned in the past 2 v star 1100. I also currently own a yamaha fazer fzx 700. My harley only has 2300 mi on it. and it already leaks oil. Not saying they all do, but this does seem to be the theme. I recently rode the new raider and I can honestly say that I will be selling my HD to purchase the raider.

I am amazed at the pettiness of all of your comments. I am a woman who is 40 who has been riding motorcycles since I was 15. I have ridden hondas, yamahas, suzukis, and Harleys, though I have never owned a HD yet. That is my goal within the next 5 years after getting out of anesthesia school. The only thing I never liked or understood about HD riders was that they would never wave to other riders if they weren't on a Harley too. How elitist! We're all bikers & should remember that! PEACE!

I don't know of any Harley riders in Fl that wouldn't give the courtesy wave, no matter if it's a person on a scooter or a person on a yamaha crotch rocket. It's just centralised to where u live, I think. You need to venture outside the circle before type casting every harley owner as a "bike snob", as you're talking about people you do not even know (me).
