  • Thank you SO much for your lesson! You are a beautiful person...and have a natural friendly style of teaching! You have given me hope!!

  • When you play thre scale you don't show us how to get the higher octave. Is it just a case of blowing harder in order to get certain notes?

  • you will need 12 for all the keys lol

  • @Bassman: Breathing is mostly posture and practice. If you're still having trouble after a month or so, you can try gluing matchsticks on either side of the windway, but you shouldn't have to.

@Surfdigby: Squeaking is usually not getting the holes completely covered, or trying to blow one note when your fingers are playing a different one.

  • Is it bad that I bought a E flat? Should I be returning it and getting a D?

  • @CelineCascanettesing I have a Lord of the Rings - shire song that I posted on YouTube last year. I performed that on an E flat tin whistle. It's not bad at all. You should consider buying a D whistle too because the most popular key for tin whistle is D - but not always

  • Okay. I got a tin whistle for Christmas and I've strated on the scales but I'm having difficulty with the breathing. How do I maintain a steady blow without running out breath myself? Also, is it necessary to touch the mouthpiece with your tongue.

  • Thank you!!!!

  • thanks congratulation, you are amazing.....

  • this is really useful. and you have nice boobs. great video!

  • Just bought myself a Waltons whistle in D, but it's really prone to squeakage. Could it be that the mouthpiece isn't tight?

  • Love this. I'm going to buy a tin whislel

  • I have a whistle in the key of C...i just got my whistle today it was a gift...so will it be harder to play if it is in the key of C? I already play the Trumpet so do you think i will learn a little faster? Please give me some info.

  • @ conse 01

    Try on martindardis' website.

You just need to print the sheet music, without downloading it.

    'T is great!

  • Also, where can we find sheet music for the Tin Whistle??

  • @conse01 you can find free sheet music to download from flutetunes [dot] com, thesession [dot] org and abcnotation The piece I played at the beginning of this video I downloaded from abcnotation It is called "Jimmy Batty"

  • @conse01 With the flutetunes site, you can search by many categories mate. By key (eg D whistle, C etc), song/tune name, genre (eg Traditional, Amerian Civil War etc). I recommend searching flutetunes as a starting point due to the high quality lists and clarity of sheet music. If in doubt, search google images. Abcnotation(dot)com is good too due to they have a recorded file that can be played for each song. Good work on the videos Inspirationflute.

  • Thanks for the information...very nice!

What is a good Tin Whistle (Key of G) that isn't too expensive but doesnt sound tinny or cheap??

  • @conse01 I bought all my whistles from "The Whistle Shop" online. I got the Generation brand - they are all very good and inexpensive.

  • Thank You very much for the tutorial! This WAS helpfull. I live in Dublin, already almost 10 years and Ive always wanted to play the tin whistle, but never managed to get the time,or effort to start. Bought myself one today in town, and told myself I will learn to play it. Thank you for this :3

  • funny i bout the same whistle just to play the shire

  • is it possible to improvise with the D Whistle on a E minor guitar chords?

  • @Hwitwulf try G minor guitar chord

  • If I've bought a pennywhistle in the key of C, is it going to be any more difficult to play songs, or is it just going to take a little more playing by ear? Also, I see you're using your tongue and playing more out of the side of your mouth than the center... Is there an advantage, or is it just the way you learned?

  • @Uchihagurl2121 The key of C isn't more difficult to play then the D. Remember, the C pennywhistle begins on the note C. As for playing to the side, I think most players play slightly off to the side, however there are some performers who play a little more centered) Remember, we all have different size and shape lips, mouth, etc. It is a matter of what works for the player and what gives you the most rounded tone. It takes practice to get a nice sound just like on any other instrument!!!

  • It's also very much like a Clarinet. With fingering, I mean. :P

  • Thanks! I just ordered a tin whistle and can't wait for it to arrive. Great tutorial.

  • @jtyner6 Thanks! I hope this Tutorial has helped you somewhat. Let me know if you have any other questions. Have fun :)

  • So, I've been fittling with this pennywhistle for a week now, and it's going quite well. Been playing some slower songs like Lord of the rings and Titanic while adding some personal touches to them as well, real fun I tell you :)

I can year that you use some sort of vibrato in almost every video you make, and I really love the sound of it! I can't seem to get anywhere near a vibrato - so I thought you might wanna take this up for a tutorial-Tuesday some time? How to use the vibrato, I mean :]

  • @Superappo So funny you should mention vibrato! I had several emails last week regarding the use of vibrato so I am already planning on doing a Vibrato lesson for next week!! I'm working hard on it so hopefully, it will help you.

  • Very nicely done! I am so glad you decided to start a penny whistle tutorial series of videos! Many thanks!

  • Thanks a lot¡¡¡ it´s a great tutorial for begginers like me.

  • @carlosaeiou I'm Glad you like it!
