The only way I would advocate for less taxes is if military spending would be the first on the chopping block. My future, specifically, has been greatly impeded by Republican tax cuts to education (in favor of increase military spending), which has just put me $60,000 in debt .. as tuition costs in my state have increased some 3,000% over the past few decades.

But so many people go to school and study nonsense sociology or political science. Many of these people never land jobs in their field because their degrees are worthless but yet they have college debt. Not saying that college is not worthwhile out side of landing a job. @cowboyjim8 - I also would agree to a lowering in taxes if we were able to re-structure our society so that we had more self-sufficient (read:collaborative) communities so that we are not all at the mercy of the influence of the marriage between corporations and government. But I don't think blanket tax cuts are the answer now, when there are no military cuts proposed, and the wealth gap is worse than it's been since the 20's or 30's.

So I think there is a paradox: when we live in a society where multi-national corporations have so much power [increasing in size/corruption], we need more government regulation of these corporations ... but in practice the government often furthers corporate power. There is no easy answer. Wealth gap = mostly financial industry & its lack of govt regulation.

That's why I went into debt: to get an education in power & resistance I would not have been able to get on my own.

The only way I would advocate for less taxes is if military spending would be the first on the chopping block. So I think there is a paradox: when we live in a society where multi-national corporations have so much power [increasing in size/corruption], we need more government regulation of these corporations ... but in practice the government often furthers corporate power.
