i like it but you should get some more rocks in there and more plants, they are rainforest frogs and that means you have to look after them alot and dont touch them
@manuewiko17 they do excrete toxins than can get into your system, but it normally doesn't effect people too muchYour greatest danger concerning the toxin is the health of the tank. the toads do not stop excreting this toxin and it could build up in their enclosure. The key to keeping everyone safe is to regularly clean their enclosure and a water filter with charcoal will help break down the toxin and increase the time between cleanings.
This is an attractive looking set-up however just so you know, you should never use fish tank gravel as a substrate, they can accidentally injest a stone while trying to catch prey. The best substrate (what I use) is Coconut Husk Mulch topped w/ Spagnum Moss.
I have my tank divided w/ a peice of plexi-glass syliconed down the middle effectively containing the water to one side the tank. I have the same Repto Filter you have in the water side and my land side is thick w/ live plants and moss.
Wow i love the way you have your tank set up im trying to figure out how to set mine up and yours is pretty much the best ive seen for our small tanks ty so much.
That is one awesome tank! I wonder how the frogs felt when you put the camera in the tank? If you don't mind me asking, what filter do you use, how big is your tank, and where did you get that awesome little bridge in the front? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm doing research before setting up my first fire-bellied toad abode.
My frog's dont seem to mind me poking around in the tank, heck they eat right out of my hands for dinner time. My large rock in the far left corner is a water fall filter, its called tetra fauna reptofilter & you can get it at petsmart. I just change the cartridges every other month and that keeps the water clean. The tank is a 25gl. As for that bridge I picked that up at petsmarts too ;)
I think it's awesome : )
